本节课在学习四年级上册Unit 4 When do you have classes? 和Unit 8 Boys like to play ball的基础上,继续学习有关动作及活动类的词汇。本单元主要学习各种动作及日常活动的表达,进一步学习进行某项动作或活动的能力进行问答并学习功能结构What can…do? Can you…? No, I can’t. But I can…通过对本课的学习,学生能够就有关日常活动进行表述,并能就自己及他人在某项动作或活动方面表现出的能力进行回答,以提高学生的综合语言运用能力。

陕旅版小学英语第四册Unit 8 What Can You Do?第二课时,以Part A中Let’s talk部分的对话为主,在复习词汇的基础上重点学习孩子们会做什么,以及小动物们会做什么来展开。

Step1 Warming-up and leading in

Sing a song about “What can you do?”
Prepare some questions for them to attract their attention and close the distance with the students by free talking.
I can cook the meal for my mom. Can you cook?
Can you take photos? Let them answer the questions one by one.
(Offer the students more chances to speak English)
设计意图:轻松愉悦的歌曲可以使学生迅速进入英语课堂。课前的free talk可以提供更多的机会让孩子们说英语。
2. Revision
Play a touch game. Let the students touch the body.
Touch your ears / eyes / nose….
设计意图:游戏的选用可以更好地巩固学生上节课所学内容,起到承上启下的作用。
Step 2 Presentation
1. Show the picture about Helen Keller, and tell the students that Helen is a disabled person. She can’t see and hear. She can’t see the trees and flowers.
She can’t hear the music and she can’t speak before ten years old. But some years later, she can speak five languages. She becomes a great writer. She can write many books.
Boys and girls, what can you do?
Let the students practice these sentence structures.
设计意图:以海伦·凯勒的励志故事为学习背景,阐述她在看不见,听不见,甚至有语言障碍的情况下掌握了五种语言,并且成为了伟大的作家。本节课中用海伦的故事来温习旧知,同时导入了本节课的重点句型,这不但降低了学习的难度,而且让本节课情感得到了升华。
2. Show some interesting pictures about animals. Let the students guess what they can do. At first, the teacher shows a picture about a rabbit and tries to ask what the rabbit can do. After that, show the pictures about the dogs, the cat and the fish.

设计意图:动物图片的出示可以很好的为本课的重难点知识做好铺垫。由海伦凯勒导出句型What can you do? 再由动物图片过渡到如何询问动物们会做哪些事情来展开,这为课本的学习与巩固打下了基础,这也证明“万变不离其宗”这句话,课本知识的学习是为了更好地贴近生活,进而提高学生的综合语言运用能力。

设计意图:总结本节课所学知识的同时,再次以海伦的事迹来引导孩子尽自己所能来做每一件事情,成功就在眼前,将本节课的情感升华。

Use the sentence structures to make up a new dialogue with their friends, and then write it down.
