(2022·湖南湘潭)Recently, a study (研究), published in BMC Medicine, found that sitting in front of the TV for a long time was a risk for people’s health.
After scientists used data (数据) on 370, 000 people, covering 12 years, they found about 9, 000 developed heart disease. They found people with genes (基因) of heart problems were more likely to develop heart disease. However, they found that people without such genes watching more than four hours of TV every day were also at the greatest risk of heart disease. People spending 2 to 3 hours a day watching TV had a 6% lower risk. And those who watched less than an hour had a 16% lower risk. The scientists of the research team finally found cutting TV watching time to less than an hour a day could prevent 10% of heart disease.
In life, people who want “one more episode (剧集)” might be the group at a higher risk, for they are easy to spend more time watching TV. If they have more snacks while watching TV, it might add the risk of putting their hearts in danger. So, if people want to watch TV longer, standing up and moving the body, or hanging out will work. 18.Which best explains “limiting” underlined in paragraph 3?
    A.限制 B.记录 C.花费
19.Where is this text probably from?
A.A tour guide. B.A story book. C.A newspaper.
20.What is the main idea of the text?
A.We’d better not watch TV more than one hour a day.
B.Hanging out after dinner is good for our heart health.

(2021·湖南湘潭)A zero-waste life is a lifestyle that hardly creates any rubbish.
“Zero waste” was first suggested by a French woman called Bea Johnson. Her idea is: live a life and try not to create any rubbish; use different kinds of ways to save the environment, such as stopping the use of one-off objects; giving unwanted things to others or donating these things to organizations like the Red Cross.
A zero-waste life follows the 6R rule—Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle and Rot. Chen Yuan, 27, is deeply interested in this idea. She and her boyfriend Joe have lived in Beijing for many years. Over August-October when Chen followed the rule of zero waste 6R, she and her boyfriend both produced only two cans of rubbish. Now the couple have opened a small shop in Beijing, where they use wood products to take the place of plastic ones and cloth bags printed with environmental logos. The store also has second-hand books and CDs to make the best of the used things.

    A.her friends like her lifestyle
B.the zero-waste lifestyle is not hard to live
C.lots of people have lived the zero-waste lifestyle
30.The passage is most probably from ________.

(2021·湖南湘潭)When autumn arrives in the United States and Canada, you can see one of nature’s greatest scenes—the yearly migration(迁徙) of the monarch butterflies(帝王蝶).
No other butterfly in the world migrates like the orange and black monarch of North America. They can not live for long periods in cold weather. So each autumn around October, the butterflies travel up to 3,000 kilometers south to spend winter. Some even fly to the mountains of Mexico.
It usually takes the butterflies two months to reach Mexico. When it is warm, they start to back north in the spring. But not one butterfly finishes the whole trip. They lay eggs along the way and die. It might take the monarchs as many as four to five generations(代) to complete the journey all the way back up to Canada, says Sarina Jepsen, who directs the endangered species program for the Xerces Society.
The most amazing thing about these butterflies is that they return to the very same trees in Mexico that their great-great-grandparents used the winter before.
However, the number of these colorful butterflies has dropped in recent years. The US Fish and Wildlife Sen ice said that nearly a billion monarchs have disappeared from overwintering sites(越冬地点) since 1990, the Washington Post reported, one of the main reasons, experts say, is that farmers have used herbicides(除草剂) on the milkweed(马利筋) plants that these butterflies feed on.

31.What color are the monarch butterflies?
A.Orange and black. B.Pink and black. C.Orange and white.
32.How long does it take the monarch butterflies to reach Mexico?
A.One month. B.Two months. C.Four to five generations.
33.What is the most amazing thing about the monarch butterflies?
A.They migrate to visit their friends.
B.They are protected by their family members.
C.They can return to the same trees that their ancestors lived in.
34.From the passage, we know that the number of the monarchs has dropped mainly because of ________.
    A.less food B.bad weather C.air pollution
35.What might the writer talk about next after the passage?
    A.How to plant more trees.
    B.How to research these butterflies.
C.What we can do to protect these butterflies.

The Forbidden City in Beijing was the emperors’ palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is also called “zijincheng (the Purple Forbidden City)”. Though its walls are red and its roofs are yellow, the palace’s name mentions the color purple. How did it get this name?
The character zi refers to the “ziwei star(Polaris,北极星)”. According to ancient Chinese astronomy (天文学), the ziwei star was surrounded by 28 other stars, meaning it was the heart of the sky. People believed that the palace of the God Emperor, which is called ziweigong, or ziwei palace, was located on this star. Chinese emperors were believed to be the sons of the God Emperor. It was believed that their palace on Earth should be just like the ziweigong in the sky. That’s how the Forbidden City got its name.
In Chinese culture, many people believe that the color purple stands for good luck. This belief began with Laozi, the ancient philosopher(哲学家) and founder of Taoism(道教) who lived around 2,500 years ago. One day, when Laozi was traveling through the Hangu Pass(函谷关) in Henan from the east, a purple mist(薄雾) suddenly appeared in the air. It is believed that this mist was connected to Laozi in some way. This “purple air from the east” story made people believe the color was a symbol of great saints from that point on.
36.The Forbidden City has another two names EXCEPT ________.
    A.zijincheng B.ziweigong C.the Purple Forbidden City
37.Ancient Chinese believed that ziwei star was ________.
A.the heart of the sky B.the name of the emperor C.the palace of the God Emperor
38.In Chinese culture, many people believe that the color purple stands for ________.
    A.Laozi B.the emperor C.good luck
39.What is the main idea of the last paragraph?
    A.Where Laozi liked traveling.
B.Why Laozi was the founder of Taoism.
C.What “purple air from the east” means.
40.What is the best title of the passage?
    A.China’s “purple” palace.
B.The role of Taoism in China.
    C.Development of the Forbidden City.

(2020·湖南湘潭)You may have already forgotten the days when you had to learn how to use chopsticks. Every Chinese kid manages to use them for some time. But chopsticks are not just simple tools to pick up food. They come with their own special rules and traditions.
Generally, people should not make noise with chopsticks. Playing with chopsticks is seen as bad manners, just as playing with forks and knives in a Western country would be rude.
There are also some superstitions(迷信)related to chopsticks. For example, some people believe that chopsticks should not be left standing upright in a bowl. It looks like the incense (香)that Chinese use to honor the dead. Doing it at the dinner table is believed to bring bad luck.
You should not tap(敲)chopsticks on the edge of the bowl either, as beggars (乞丐)do this to ask for food. Parents might get angry if children do this as they don’t want their children to be as poor as beggars in the future.
Besides, chopsticks can also be a great gift. In Chinese, “chopsticks” are known as “kuaizi”, so newlyweds (新婚夫妇) feel happy to receive chopsticks as a wedding gift. Skilled craftsmen (手艺人)paint beautiful pictures on chopsticks to make them look like fine artwork. Today, even people from western countries are learning to use chopsticks and like to collect them as souvenirs(纪念品).

    C.表达敬意
59.Chinese parents might get angry when their children tap chopsticks on the edge of the bowl because they don’t want their children to .

(2020·湖南湘潭)There’s an old saying: “Laughter is the best medicine,” and modern research certainly shows that laughing is good for you. When you have a good laugh, you exercise your muscles (肌肉), strengthen your heart and balance your body chemistry. However, these are the results of having laugh, not the explanations(解释)of why we do it.
Until recently, scientists believed that laughter was a human behaviour only. They argued that people find jokes funny because we can put ourselves in another person’s shoes, and that animals can’t do that. People don’t all have the same sense of humour. Sometimes there isn’t any joke, or we may not have heard it but we laugh because the people around us are laughing. How long and how loud we would laugh are also shared. We just go on following the example with one another until the laughter fades away(消失).
Many pet owners insist that animals have a sense of humor ,too. For example, pet dogs often run away with a slipper(拖鞋)and then stop, inviting their owners to run after them. Dogs even seem to smile when their owners join in the game. As the game continues, our pets make noises that are very like laughter. You can compare this behaviour to the laughter of a baby, who continually throws a toy down, waits for the adult to pick it up and throws it down again.
Perhaps laughter is just a sign that we are having fun. Fun, like laughter, is best when we share it with friends.

    (2022·湖南湘潭)阅读下面的短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
More than fifty years has passed since the first satellite (人造卫星) in China was sent into space in 1970. From then on, many such inspiring moments were left in our memories.
The latest encouraging moment happened on June 5th, 2022. Shenzhou-14. China’s ninth manned spaceflight (载人宇宙飞行), successfully sent Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe into the Tiangong Space Station, where they will work and live for 6 months. More research work will be completed and great challenges are ahead waiting for them.
Years of preparations were made for the moment. For example, enough knowledge and skills helped deal with problems: physical and mental (心理的) training helped to keep the best condition. Although it’s the second time for Chen Dong and Liu Yang to fly into space, they again with Cai Xuzhe received hard training. As for Liu Yang, now a mother of two young kids, she believes it’s her duty to do that for our country and set a good example for her children.
The success also belongs to the team. Hundreds of engineers and workers are behind them, offering all kinds of supports to help them finish more tasks.
81.In China, when was the first satellite sent into space?

What does taking the train mean to you? Perhaps it’s just a way of getting to your destination(目的地). In fact, the train itself can be part of the fun.
On March 28th, China’s first panda-themed tourist train left Chengdu in Sichuan for Zunyi in Guizhou. It soon became the talk of China with its special design and comfortable service.
It’s inside and outside are decorated with giant panda pictures. Attendants(乘务员) carry panda toys and passengers can try panda-shaped food and Sichuan snacks. Some people call it a mobile star hotel because it has a bar, karaoke room, dance hall, and mahjong(麻将) room.
This luxury(高档的) service is one aspect that has attracted travelers. But train travel interests people for other reasons.
In the fast-paced times we live in, train travel is a good way to slow down. It gives you time and space to read, sleep, chat with friends, or simply do nothing but watch the changing scenery outside.
One surprising thing is that you might meet new people. Sheng Yawei, 26, once took the longest railway in the world—the Trans-Siberian Railway in the world. Sheng met a Russian student and they became friends. “I also met a cute boy who gave me melon seeds(瓜子). Though we didn’t understand each other’s language, it made me feel nice.”

Maybe it’s normal for you to feel lonely and nervous because of the bad relations between you and your family. 1. Here is some advice that may help.
If the relations between your parents become difficult, they might argue. When it happens, it’s like a big, black cloud hanging over your home. At that time, you’d better learn to offer help. 2.你可以帮忙做更多的家务, so that your parents have more time to communicate with each other.
Sometimes, it may trouble you that your parents care more about your study. Why not try to understand them and 3. tell them that you are studying hard to become better.
Also, fight between you and your bother are common. For example, he always refuses to let you watch your favorite programs. Instead he may watch whatever he likes until late at night. Of course, it’s unfair. However, remember not to be angry because it’s useless. Sit down to have a talk with him. 4.这是一个与他相处的好办法。
