Jayce Crowder began noticing in kindergarten that he looked different from his classmates. They had two hands. He had one. "It started when one boy teased him," says his mother, Cortney Lewis. He'd return home with questions: Why am I different? Why me? Why? ”He actually said he was mad at God for making him that way,"  his mother says, "That was a huge dagger to the heart.”

Lewis admits she didn't know what to do at that point. A few weeks later, Lewis came across a news story about Trashaun Willis, then 14, who had become an Internet sensation网络热门after posting videos of his slam dunks扣篮,and he was missing most of his left arm. Lewis called Jayce in. At the time, it seemed that watching Trashaun would merely be an inspiring moment for Jayce.

Had it stayed just that, Lewis would have been happy. But little did she know that her sister had already asked the newspaper to help set up a meeting with Trashaun to build Jayce's confidence.

The boys met at Washington Middle School and instantly bonded. They rode bikes around the school's hallways and shot baskets. At one point, Trashaun did get serious with Jayce. He talked about their left arms. He told Jayce he was perfect the way God made him. He said not to let anyone drag him down and that words don't need to shake his confidence.

“It made me relieved," says Lewis. Since that meeting, Lewis has seen a pronounced difference in her son. He recently started wrestling and loves it. “Meeting him", she said, "made Jayce understand that there are others like him.” As for Trashaun, his relationship with Jayce made him look forward to helping more kids. "It means a lot to know that I changed Jayce's life,"  Trashaun said.

At this very moment around the world, athletes are stepping into freezing cold chambers. Why on earth are they doing this? Because it's supposed to help them feel better. The treatment is called Whole-body Cryotherapy

Athletes such as basketball star LeBron James, soccer great Cristiano Ronaldo have all tried it. The therapy works like this. You take off everything except underwears. Then you put on warm socks and gloves and step into a chamber that looks sort of like a shower. Once you're locked in, air cooled to below - 200F -129°Cfills the chamber and you stay in for two to three minutes.

Supporters believe the freezing air helps muscles recover faster and reduces body pain. After his first cryotherapy sessions, Phil MacKenzie, a professional rugby player, felt noticeably better. He told Scientific American, I felt refreshed right away. My sleep was better." Soon, he was using the chamber four times a week. Those who promote cryotherapy make all sorts of wild claims about its effects, such as increasing focus, improving skin tone肤色),slowing aging and much more.

Is there any evidence to back up these incredible claims? No. Several small scientific studies have looked at whether the therapy can improve muscle recovery after exercise, with encouraging results. But there just isn't enough evidence to show that the therapy works. The benefits some people experience may just be the placebo安慰剂effect. That's when a patient's expectation that a treatment will work leads to an improvement.

The US Food & Drug Administration has actually issued a warning about whole-body cryotherapy. It cautions that the liquid nitrogen N2used to cool the chamber may make it difficult to breathe. Frostbite is another potential risk, which is why participants wear gloves and socks,

    31. What is the author's attitude towards whole-body cryotherapy?

    A. Critical. B. Disapproving.

Basically, a phone interview is the first step in the hiring process, as it gives the employer a glance of your background, personality, and overall fit for the position. 36

    1. Tell Me About Yourself

More often than not, an interviewer will begin with “tell me about yourself?’ 37    You don't want to sound too rehearsed排练好的, but putting down a few notes on your background can help make this a much easier question to respond to.

    2. Prepare for Behavioral Questions

38  While they aren't always asked on a phone interview, they can tell the interviewer a bit more about your personality without having to meet you in person.

These questions, such as “tell me about a time you demonstrated leadership" are fairly common, and also easy to prepare for in advance. Take a few minutes to write down bullet points on a time you were a leader or overcame a difficulty.

39 Therefore, writing down a few ideas in advance can only help get those creative juices flowing for when some unexpected questions are asked.

    3. Prepare to Explain Employment Gaps

Some individuals have employment gaps in their resume简历j For most, this relates to college and school breaks, etc. 40    Thinking about these gaps beforehand gives you the advantage in terms of being prepared for the line of questioning.

Remember that a phone interview may be the most important part, as it's going to solidify巩固a good first impression that will help carry you throughout the rest of the process.

    A. Behavioral questions are huge,

    B. However, these gaps should be avoided if possible.

    C. You never know what type of question will be asked.

    D. These questions need you to describe your preparation for the target job.

    E. But sometimes this means explaining them to avoid making you look bad.

    F. Preparing for it requires you to describe your goals that match the position.

    G. With that in mind, you can prepare some well-thought-out answers for the commonly asked questions.
