One day, the mother horse asks the little horse to carry a bag to the mill.“Can you do this work for me?” asks his mum. “Sure, Mum,” says the little horse. “你能为我做这个工作吗？”他的妈妈问道。“当然可以，妈妈，”小马说。On the way, there is a river. The little horse stops and thinks, “Is the river deep? Can I cross it?” 在路上，有一条河。小马停下来想，“这条河深吗？我能渡过吗？”A cow comes along. The little horse asks the cow, “Excuse me, can I cross the river?” “Yes, you can. The water is not deepat all,” says the cow. The little horse begins to cross the river. 一头奶牛走了过来。小马便问这头奶牛，“打扰一下，我能渡过这条河吗?”“是的，你可以。这水一点也不深，”奶牛说道。小马开始过河了。“Don’t cross the river, little horse!” A squirrel jumps down from a tree and cries. “It’s very deep. Yesterday, one of my friends was lost in this river.” The little horse doesn’t know what to do next. He goes home and asks his mother. “不要过河，小马!”一只松鼠从树上跳下来喊道。“它很深。昨天，我的一个朋友在这条河里不见了。”小马不知道接下来该怎么办。他回家问妈妈去了。“Why do you come back, my child?” the mother horse asks. “The cow says the river is not deep, Mum. But the squirrel says it is very deep. What can I do?” “你为什么回来了，我的孩子?”马妈妈问道。“妈妈，奶牛说河水不深。但是松鼠却说它很深。我该怎么做呢？”“My child, go and try yourself. Then you’ll know what to do.” “我的孩子，你亲自去试试。然后你就知道该怎么做了。”The little horse comes back to the river and crosses it. Now he knows how deep the river is.So don’ t always listen to others.
