2022年中考英语话题 阅读理解题 学校与学习(2021·北京市·期中) Feb. 17 should have been the start of the spring semester for many middle and primary schools in China. However, to prevent the novel coronavirus from spreading, many schools have delayed (延迟) the start of the semester, following instructions from the Ministry of Education (MOE). But students in China are still studying. Instead of having classes at school, many students in Beijing and Guangzhou began their first day of online classes on Feb. 17. Students in Shanghai will start online classes on March 2, 2020. "In the morning, I have an English class, followed by Chinese and math," Liu Bo, a junior 3 student from Beijing, told Xinhua."I have also learned about epidemic prevention (流行病预防)." According to the MOE, students are mainly taking classes to review previous knowledge rather than taking new classes during the online study period. Online courses are required to include contents (内容) about epidemic prevention, psychological (心理的) health and educational activities. "Online courses are only temporary measures (暂时的措施) taken during the epidemic, so when the new semester begins, schools should not replace (替换) classroom teaching with online classes," Lyu Yugang, from the ministry, told China Daily. The ministry also called on schools not to increase their students' schoolwork burden (负担). Schools should not ask students to study online for long periods of time or study things beyond (超出) their curriculum (课程). Students must have enough time to rest, the ministry added. Also, it stressed (强调) that protecting students' eyesight must be a priority (首要事情).(1) Why have many schools put off starting the semester in China? (2) Did many students begin their first day's classes in China in 2020 at school or on the Internet? (3) How many kinds of contents do online courses include? (4) Can online classes take the place of classroom teaching for a long time? (5) What must be considered at first for the students when they study online in the ministry's opinion? Most schools are going to start a program (课程) called B.Y.O.T. (bring your own technology). This program allows (允许) students to bring iPads, cell phones or other things to school for study. One aim (目标) for this program is that the students don't need to carry textbooks any more. They can download math, science, social studies, and read textbooks on their iPads. Another one is that they can get free educational subjects to play in their free time! Schools have set up a free Wi-Fi system (系统) just for the B.Y.O.T. program. Thank teachers for all their hard work to set this program up. I really think this program will go well in most schools and I also think the learning will be better than ever. However, maybe some schools will not allow this because they think that it will make kids waste too much time and they might break their iPads. This program will let students have fun and learn at the same time. If you like your iPads and you like to read, school is getting started with reading with iPads. Many high schools and middle schools have already started and so have some primary schools. But most primary schools are coming along! Let's tell them: Hurry! In almost every big university in the USA, football is a favorite sport. American football is not like soccer. Players sometimes kick the ball, but they also throw the ball and run with it. This is called a touchdown. It is difficult to move the ball. Eleven men on the team try to stop the man with the ball. If the man does not move the ball ten yards, his team kicks the ball to the other team. Each university wants its team to win. Thousands of people come to watch. They all yell for their favorite team. Young men and women from the cheer team dance and jump when they yell. Each team plays ten or eleven games each season. Most of us enjoy listening to our mothers speak. Scientists have found that compared to other people's voices, our brains greatly prefer the voices of our own mothers. Scientists at Stanford University, US, recently studied this. They scanned (扫描) children's brains while they were listening to different sounds, including their mother's voices. They found that 97 percent of the time, children could recognize (识别) their mother's voices at once. Hearing their mothers' voices makes children's brains more active. We usually just use one part of our brain to deal with sounds when we hear something. But when we hear our mothers' voices, many parts of the brain, including those in charge of (负责) reward and emotion, start to work as well. Why do we respond so strongly to our mothers' voices? It starts even before we're born. When children are still in the womb or have just been born, they hear their mothers talking. This makes babies feel comfortable and teaches them language and social skills, even though they are still very young. The babies learn to recognize their mothers' voices as a rewarding sound. Later, when this sound is heard again, more attention is paid to it. Some sounds are necessary for our survival (生存) or bring us pleasure.
