The Shenzhu-12 astrnauts make heric trip hme“神舟十二号”航天员英勇返航
On June 17th, 2021, the Shenzhu-12 manned spacecraft went int space. It tk three Chinese astrnauts Nie Haisheng, Liu Bming and Tang Hngb t China’s Tiangng space statin. On September 17th, the astrnauts came back t the earth. The return capsule (返回舱) tuched dwn at the Dngfeng landing site in Inner Mnglia.
Befre heading hme, the astrnauts first prepared their bdies. They did exercises t train their muscles, bnes and hearts t prepare fr cming int the atmsphere (大气层) and hitting the grund.
During the jurney, the astrnauts experienced radi blackuts after getting int the atmsphere because f t much heat. This means the astrnauts culd nt talk with the grund fr several minutes. But thanks t the radar, scientists n the grund still knew where the spacecraft was.
When the spacecraft was abut 10 kilmetres abve the grund, it still travelled at 200 metres per secnd. That’s twice the speed f high-speed trains! Their parachutes (降落伞) helped the spacecraft in its return. It slwed the speed dwn t 7 t 8 metres per secnd. These special parachutes were made in China.
The three astrnauts carried ut tw spacewalks and set up equipment (设备) utside the statin. They als did a number f scientific experiments and tests. They had vide calls with China’s leaders and hundreds f researchers, teachers and students in Hng Kng as well. Befre leaving, they sent data back t the grund and rganized the statin.

    中国成功发射 “神舟十二号” 载人飞船
China plans t send three astrnauts t its new space statin this mnth. The plans were cnfirmed t state televisin by Yang Liwei, a chief designer fr China’s manned space prgram. Yang was the cuntry’s first astrnaut t launch (发射) int rbit in 2003. Three astrnauts are t cmplete a three-mnth missin n the new space statin, called Tianhe. It is the third and largest space statin China has built. Its main mdule (舱) was launched int rbit n April 29.
On May 30, a self-pilted spacecraft arrived at the space statin carrying supplies. Chinese fficials said the Tianzhu-2 spacecraft reached the statin eight hurs after launching frm Hainan, an island in the Suth China Sea. The spacecraft was carrying space suits, living supplies, equipment and fuel (燃料). The astrnauts will be carried t space abard the cuntry’s Shenzhu-12 spacecraft. It will launch frm China’s Jiuquan base in the nrthwest.
Yang did nt prvide the identities (身份) f the astrnauts r give a flight date in his cmments t China Central Televisin. But he said the astrnauts were expected t practise spacewalks, cmplete repairs and carry ut sme scientific peratins.
When asked whether any wmen were in the crew (机务人员) , Yang said nne wuld be jining the upcming missin. “But missins after that will have them,” he added.
The Chinese space agency plans a ttal f 11 launches thrugh the end f next year. The missins will transprt the remaining mdules fr the 70-tn space statin and transprt mre supplies and crew.
China has sent 11 astrnauts— including tw wmen—int space, beginning with Yang’s flight in Octber 2003. The first female astrnaut was Liu Yang in 2012.
Yang said the astrnauts will practise making spacewalks with tw peple utside the statin at ne time. China’s first spacewalk was made in 2008 by astrnaut Zhai Zhigang utside the Shenzhu-7 spacecraft.

    Civilian manned airship 民用载人飞艇
Have yu ever seen an airship befre? It’s like a submarine (潜水艇) flying in the sky. This year, yu might see ne here in China!
Chinese researchers designed the airship AS700, accrding t Science and Technlgy Daily. It will g n its first flight in the secnd half f 2021. It can carry up t nine peple and travel 700 kilmetres within 10 hurs.
“Airships have sightseeing services. They can als transprt (运输) peple and gds,” said Zhang Jinhua, senir designer f the AS700.
Different frm airplanes, airships can take ff withut a runway. They dn’t need wings (机翼), either. Like a balln, they are filled with gas that is lighter than air. The gas can lift the airship int the sky. This als makes airships safer than planes.
“The airship can land n the grund safely even if its engines and peratin system (操作系统) fail,” Zhang said.
The AS700 has very large windws. Peple can get a gd view f the scenery utside. It can als carry high definitin cameras (高清才目机) t take pictures and d research.
    ( ) 1. What is the airship AS700 like?
    A. It is like a submarine but can fly in the sky.
    B. It lks like a balln that can flat in the sky.
    C. It is like a plane with high-definitin cameras.
    D. It is like a large windw with high-definitin cameras.
( ) 2. What are the differences between airships and airplanes?
① Airships can take ff withut a runway. ② Airships dn’t need wings t fly.
③ Airships are filled with lighter gas. ④ Airships are as safe as airplanes.
    A. ①②④ B. ①②③ C. ②③④ D. ①②④
( ) 3. Which f the fllwing abut the airship is TRUE accrding t the passage?
    A. It’s like an airplane that takes ff n a runway and fly high in the sky.
    B. The airship can carry mre than nine peple at a time and travels fast.
    C. Airships can nly have sightseeing services but can’t transprt gds.
    D. Yu can take pictures f the beautiful scenery thrugh the windws.
    ( ) 4. What’s the main idea f the passage?
    A. A new airship was made in China. B. Researchers call n peple t buy an airship.
    C. Peple can take a sightseeing tur by airship.
