Teaching procedures Step 1 Warming up & Revision 1. Greet the class. 2. Sing the song An apple a Day. 3. Say the chant on P49. Step 2 Presentation & Practice 1. Play the guessing game to guess what’s in the bag. Show a bag with some fruit and lead the Ss say the fruit out. 2. Pair work: Do you like …?/ Yes, I do./ No, I don’t. 3. Present the dialogue between Sarah and Wu Yifan to talk about the fruit, then lead out the word watermelon and play the chain game to practice. Show the pictures of watermelon juice, watermelon cake and watermelon ice cream, then lead the Ss to use the sentence they’ve learnt to talk with their partner. 4. Express the likes and dislikes with the sentence patterns I like watermelons. / I don’t like watermelons./Me, neither. 5. Show a picture of strawberry, and teach the word strawberry. Then show some strawberries and lead out the word strawberries. Practice the word by playing the golden finger game. Tell the plural form of strawberry - strawberries. 6. Show some pictures of berry, lead out the word blueberries and waxberries. Guide the Ss to express the likes and dislikes with the sentence patterns I like strawberries./ I don’t like strawberries. 7. Present the pictures of grapes and word grape. Play the hide and seek game to practice the word grape. 8. Express the likes and dislikes with the sentence patterns I like grapes./ I don’t like grapes. 9. Play the missing game to consolidate the words about fruit. First, present the pictures. Then, present the words. 10. Show the pictures of some fruit on the screen about the apples, pears, watermelons, oranges, grapes,bananas and strawberries. Then ask and answer Do you like…?/ Yes, I do./ No, I don’t. Step 3 Consolidation & Extension 1. Watch the video of Let’s chant and repeat them one by one. Then lead the Ss to read the chant and practice in groups. 3. Do exercises. A. Look and match. B. Read and choose. Step 4 Summary & Homework 1. Summarize the key words and sentences. 2. Do homework. Find out more fruit. |
