The travel jurnal might talk abut the thughts peple have when they lk at ne f an artist’s wrks fr the first time. It gives a different impressin every time ne lks at it. Accrding t the text, sme f the best-knwn paintings frm the Impressinist mvement as well as the wrks f Vincent van Ggh and Paul Gauguin, Pst-Impressinist painters are kept in the Musée d’Orsay.
The authr was impressed by the fact that Mnet painted arund 250 paintings f the same lily pnd, all in different clurs and styles. It als amazed him that every time Mnet studied the simple scene, he brught the pnd’s beauty t the canvas in a unique way.

The authr was impressed by Renir’s masterpiece Dance at Le Mulin de la Galette.
The main fcus f the Impressinists’ wrks was everyday subject matter. They emplyed free brushwrk and used clurs t shw the effect f light n things, creating paintings that were far less realistic than the wrks that came befre.

    Pst-reading
    1. Which f the fllwing d yu think is mst likely t be an impressinist painting? Give yur reasns.2. If yu were a tur guide f the Musée d’Orsay, hw wuld yu intrduce the museum t the visitrs?3. What d yu think f the title f this travel jurnal? Why?
    1. Which f the fllwing d yu think is mst likely t be an impressinist painting? Give yur reasns.
I think the painting in the middle is mst likely an Impressinist painting because it is prbably a nrmal everyday scene fr the painter. The bat and its surrunding scene are just an impressin f what the painter saw s they are nt painted in clear detail—the sft edges f the bats, factry chimneys, sea and sky seem t mix tgether. This tells me that the painter used the Impressinist free brushwrk technique. The painter als used light and vivid clurs t express his r her feelings.
    2. If yu were a tur guide f the Musee d’Orsay, hw wuld yu intrduce the museum t the visitrs?
The Musée d’Orsay is a wrld-famus art museum in Paris, France. It is unusual because it was previusly used as a railway statin. This museum is famus fr its large cllectin f paintings frm the Impressinist and Pst-Impressinist mvements f the 19th century. It als displays masterpieces frm masters such as Claude Mnet, Pierre-Auguste Renir, Vincent van Ggh and Paul Gauguin. A visit t the Musée d’Orsay allws visitrs t lk at and cmpare the different styles between the tw art mvements. They can enjy lking at the wrld frm an entirely new pint f view.
    3. What d yu think f the title f this travel jurnal? Why?
The title f the travel jurnal is First impressins. I think it is a gd title. It is a gd summary f the artistic features f the Impressinists. The Impressinist artists did nt try t paint every detail in a scene. Instead, they tried t paint a brief “impressin” f the feeling they had, burning with vivid clurs and light, befre it disappeared. What was painted n a canvas was exactly the impressin in their mind at that very mment. In additin, the title als indicates that this was the first time the writer had laid eyes n real Impressinist wrks in a museum, since she had previusly nly admired them n her cmputer screen.
    1. Write a passage t intrduce the Musée d’Orsay.2. Finish the exercise in the wrkbk.
