Reporting on Internet use

Teaching Aims

By the end of this section, students will be able to:

1. describe the development of the Internet;

2. analyze and summarize the changes of Internet use;

3. write a report on Internet use.

Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Lead-in

Have students answer the following questions.

1. Do you often use the Internet? How about your parents?

2. In which way do you usually access the Internet, using a mobile device or other devices?

3. What do you often do on the Internet? 

Step 2 Listening

Have students listen to the talk for the first time and find the answers to the questions in A1 on Page 36. 

Have students listen to the talk again and finish A2 on Page 36. After listening, students check the answers in groups.

Step 3 Reading

The teacher guides students to view some charts about Internet use in Part B on Page 37 and answer the questions.

1. According to the first chart, which use of the Internet has increased the most during the last five years?

2. What change can you see from the two pie charts?

3. In the last chart, what change do you notice in the Internet users above 59?

Step 4 Description

 Have students describe each chart.
