The family has changed

    How many people are there in your family? Do you have brothers or sisters? Have you asked the similar questions to your parents or grandparents?

    The Chinese family has changed a lot. Many years ago, a family with three or even four generations living together was quite common. But now, there are only parents and their only child in a family.

In the past, women had no work. They used to cook, look after the old and the young children at home. The older child had to help take care of the little brothers and sisters, as well as do housework. It was men’s duty to work outside to support the family. The grandpa was usually the head of the family, who made important decisions in the family. Now, women are no longer housewives. They have their own work.

The husband and wife in a family are both busy so that they don’t want to have children, or they only want one child. Therefore, the child can be taken better care of. They do housework and make decisions together. They spend more and more time enjoying their life. The family with four generations has hardly been found.
