Califrnia and Vermnt have statewide laws abut recycling fd waste that apply t businesses and hmes. The prcess f recycling fd waste and turning it int usable sil is called cmpsting(堆制肥料).
    Fd waste that can be cmpsted includes fruit and vegetable peels, cffee grunds, tea bags, and eggshells. Garden waste such as stems and leaves can als be cmpsted. Meat, fish, and dairy fd waste cannt be recycled.
    Accrding t envirnmental grups, cmpsting reduces the amunt f trash ging int landfills(垃圾填埋池), and cmpsted waste hlds a wide range f nutrients. When cmpst is added t the sil in gardens and fields, it helps crps grw.
    Reducing the amunt f waste that ges int landfills is ne reasn why cities and states are passing fd-waste recycling laws. “Our landfills are far frm enugh fr the creatin f new nes is shrinking.” Renee Crwley, a prject manager said.
    Officials in Seattle, Washingtn, say that fd waste makes up 30% f the trash ging int landfills, and they are lking t reduce that percentage. That city has a law requiring peple t recycle fd waste. It is banned frm all garbage. There is a fine fr peple wh put it int regular garbage.
