1.T: Do you still remember Millie, Sandy, Simon and Daniel? Who likes sports?
(Simon) What about Amy? What sport is Amy good at? (Help the Ss answer: She is good at swimming. )
2.Show the first picture on P19 and say: Look at Sandy and Millie. What sport are they good at? They are good at playing volleyball. They can play volleyball very well.
3.Show the second picture and say: Look at Kitty. She likes tennis very much.
4.Show a football and say: Look at the ball in my hand. What’s it?(Ss: It’s a football.)
( Write the underlined words on the Bb and read them .)
5.Ask: Can you play volleyball? Do you like volleyball? Are you good at playing tennis? Do you enjoy playing tennis? (Encourage the Ss to give their own answers.)
Step 2 Practice
1.Say: I think sports are very interesting. As students, do you like sports? Please look at the pictures in Part A . Do you know what sports the students like?
2.Guide the Ss look at the pictures and complete the sentences.
3.Make conversations with the Ss like this:

1.Say: Sports are good for us. But sometimes we are busy and have no time. I think walking is also good. I like walking in the park after supper. I walk many times a week.
2.Ask a student: Do you like walking? Do you often walk to school? …(Oh, really?)
3.Look at the comic strip on P18 and say: Look, Hobo has a football in his hand. I think he likes football very much. But what about Eddie? What’s his favourite sport? Now, let’s listen to Eddie and Hobo’s dialogue and answer: What sport does Eddie like?
4.After listening to the tape of the first two pictures, ask another question: Does Eddie really like walking?

T: Today we’ll learn reading of Unit 2—My favourite football player. Boys and girls, do you like doing sports? Here are some pictures of sports. Can you tell me what sports they are?
2. Free talk.
T: I like football best. What is your favourite sport? Who is your favourite player? Do you know anything about him? Now, work in pairs to make a dialogue with your classmate to talk about something about sports.
3. A guessing game: Who is Miss Shan’s favourite football player?
T: Now, let’s watch videos about football stars. Who is he? Yes, he is Messi, and he can play football very well. Who is teaching the children to play football? He is an English football star, Beckham. The last one is Neymar. They are all popular football players. Let’s play a game. Can you guess who is Miss Shan’s favourite football player? You can have a guess like this, “I think Miss Shan’s favourite football player is …, because …”
My favourite football player is Messi. I like him very much, because he plays football very well. Do you know something about him? Let me introduce him to you. Messi is a good football player. Read the passage quickly, and answer the questions.
T: Simon also likes playing football. Who is his favourite football player? Now let’s read a passage about his favourite football player and answer the following questions.

2. Detail reading.
(1) Read Paragraph 2 and find out the information about Li Hua.
(2) Role-play.
Read paragraph 2 again and finish the dialogue between Millie and Simon. Then read the dialogue between Mille and Simon with your partner.
(3) Read Paragraph 3and 4 and answer the following questions.

(4) Read the whole passage and help Millie complete Li Hua’s information.

T: Look at Part B1 on P21. There are the main ideas of different paragraphs. Can you write the correct paragraph numbers in the blanks? What is Paragraph 1 about?
