If yu’d have asked me a year ag if I culd see myself running at 5:15 n a winter mrning, I’d have laughed. Mrning just wasn’t my thing and running in the mrning was smething I didn’t even cnsider. “I prefer t wrk ut in the middle f the mrning r in the afternn,” I’d say t my friends wh g t the gym befre wrk.
Then, last fall I recnnected with an ld neighbrhd friend. She’d been running in the mrning and taken ff frty punds that year. When I lked in the mirrr, I knew I culd benefit frm the same kind f weight lss. I asked if I culd jin her. I knew I needed t change smething if I was ging t get back in shape.
The first tw mnths were especially hard, because we ran twice a week at 5:15 am and I slept till 7:00 the ther mrnings. But as I’ve adjusted t the rutine f running, I’ve discvered great jys that make it even mre wrthwhile than a little weight lss.
While I haven’t lst frty punds yet, it’s amazing hw much mre energy I have and hw much strnger I feel. Because f the mrning run, the rest f my day is mre prductive. I wuldn’t say I’ve becme a mrning persn, but I wuld say mrning running is nw my thing.

In life, nce n a path, we tend t fllw it, fr better r wrse. What's sad is that even if it's the latter, we ften accept it anyway because we are s used t the way things are that we dn't even recgnize that they culd be different. This is a phenmenn psychlgist call functinal fixedness.
This classic experiment will give yu an idea f hw it wrks and a sense f whether yu may have fallen int the same trap: Peple are given a bx f tacks (大头钉) and sme matches and asked t find a way t attach a candle t a wall s that it burns prperly.
Typically, the subjects try tacking the candle t the wall r lighting it t fix it with melted wax. The psychlgists had, f curse, arranged it s that neither f these bvius appraches wuld wrk. The tacks are t shrt, and the paraffin (石蜡) desn't stick t the wall. S hw can yu cmplete the task? The successful technique is t use the tack bx as a candle-hlder. Yu empty it, tack it t the wall. and stand the candle inside it. T think f that, yu have t lk beynd the bx's usual rle as a receptacle just fr tacks and re-imagine it serving an entirely new purpse. That is difficult because we all suffer t ne degree r anther frm functinal fixedness.
The inability t think in new ways affects peple in every crner f sciety. The plitical therist Hannah Arendt cined the phrase“frzen thughts”t describe deeply held ideas that we n lnger questin but shuld. In Arendt's eyes, the self- cntent reliance n such accepted “truths” als made peple blind t ideas that didn't fit their wrldview, even when there was plenty f evidence fr them.
Frzen thinking has nthing t d with intelligence. She said,“It can be fund in highly intelligent peple.”

    30. Which f the fllwing statements will Hannah Arendt agree with?
    A. Peple shuld questin.
    B. We shuld be used t the way things are.
    C. Peple shuldn't accept the idea that desn't fit their wrldview.
    D. The smarter peple are,the mre pen t the new things they are.
    31. What's the passage mainly abut?
    A. An interesting experiment B. The pinin f Hannah Arendt.
    C. A thery t be prved. D. A psychlgical phenmenn.

T hear peple talk abut Internet friendships, yu wuld think it was ne giant web f cat-fishing and e-crime. While we all undubtedly have t take measures t remain safe nline, assuming every friendship r cnnectin made n Instagram, Twitter r Facebk is cheating r insincere wuld be a mistake.
As a wman wh wrks in the creative industry, I have fund real jy in seeking ut a cmmunity I culdn't find elsewhere, and making sme great friends alng the way. My first nline friendship was n Twitter with my(nw) best friend, during the university exam perid. We exchanged study ntes in dzens f direct messages, set a study date, and haven't lked back since.
Drawn t each ther by similar circumstances, friendships nline are similar t ffline in that they tend t begin because f shared interest r cmmn grund-maybe they've read the pst n Instagram. Maybe they have the same taste in fd r plitics. Or maybe they just lve memes t. If nline friendships start similar t friendships ffline, they grw in the same way, t. Often thrugh mutual supprt: apart frm calling a friend t cngratulate him n that new jb, yu als re-tweet his jkes and praise his Instagram stry.
Despite my psitive experiences when I tell peple, mst are still suspicius. Eyebrws are raised higher when I explain nt nly have I fund a cmmunity nline but have made friendships with peple I meet face-t-face t. Actually, these are just as valid as ther friendships, accrding t behaviural psychlgist J Hemmings, wh says nline friendships can be real.
S hw d yu knw if peple are there fr the real yu r just because yu're ppular n Instagram? Hemmings has simple rules. She tells me, “Yu have t equally feel cmfrtable that yu're getting smething f each ther instead f being used t enable smething that isn't friendship.”
Therefre, if all a “friend” nline is asking yu t d is t prmte their wrk r persnal brand and rarely takes an interest in yu, then there may be rm t questin the basis f the friendship. On that nte it is wrth remembering that just because smene has a lt f fllwers, it desn't necessarily mean they have lts f friends.
    32. What is mst peple's attitude twards nline friendship?
    A. Negative. B. Psitive. C. Objective. D. Neutral.
    33. Why des the writer share her wn experience in paragraph 2?
    A. T intrduce the backgrund infrmatin f the text.
    B. T cnvey the writer's attitude and give the related example.
    C. T prve the likely risk fr peple t develp friendship nline.
    D. T remind peple f the varius benefits f making friends nline.
    34. Hw can nline and ffline friendships be deepened?
    A. They require supprt frm each ther. B. They need t have cmmn grund.
    C. They shuld be based n shared interest. D. They can't live withut scial media.
    35. Accrding t the authr, what's the glden rule t make friends nline?
    A. A friend t all is a friend t nne.
    B. Friendship cannt stand always n ne side.
    C. A friend withut faults will never be fund.
    D. Withut cnfidence there is n friendship.
