·__34__ Each interview that you get on the street shouldn't be longer than ten minutes. As soon as you get the answer you need, move on to the next person. Make sure that as you go from interview to interview, you are getting a variety of answers. If everyone is giving you the same answer, you won't be able to use it. A safe number of interviews to conduct is about six to ten. 35_(F._That_number_of_interviews_should_give_you_all_the_answers_you_need.)
A.Limit your time.
E.To get good and useful results, ask them the same question.
根据后面的“Each interview that you get on the street shouldn't be longer than ten minutes.”
解题时注意在选项中查找表示结果、结论、总结等的关联词,如:therefore, as a result, thus, in short, to sum up, to conclude, in a word等。
39(C.Women_are_also_helped_by_their_female_genes.) Scientists are still not exactly sure how genes influence aging, but they believe that they do. Some think that a woman's body cells have a tendency (倾向) to age more slowly than a man's. Others think that a man's body cells have a tendency to age more quickly. __40__
E.Recent research seems to support both of these possibilities.
F.Therefore, women are more healthy than men and can live a better life.
Everyone wants to succeed in their life, don't they? Even as a teenager, you can achieve success in your life; it really isn't that hard. __31__
·Do well in school ...
·Do good in your community (社区) ...
E.It will help you pass time and develop your personality.
F.Here are some important points that you may find helpful.
If you have a door to your office, make good use of it. __40__. If someone knocks and it's not an important matter, excuse yourself and let the person know you're busy so they can get the hint (暗示) that when the door is closed, you're not to be disturbed.
F.It might seem unkind to cut people short when they interrupt you
G.Leave it open when you're available to talk and close it when you're not
根据“If you have a door to your office, make good use of it.”
...If you'd like to build a powerful bond with your garden, start by taking some time to recall the gardens of your youth. __40__.Then go outside and work out a plan to translate your childhood memories into your grownup garden. Have fun.
B.Find a good place for your own garden
G.For each of those gardens, write down the strongest memory you have
空格后一句中的“translate your childhood memories into”与G项中的memory相呼应,故选G。
表示并列关系的词有:first(ly), second(ly) ...; first, then/next ...; in the first place, in the second place ...; for one thing, for another (thing) ...; to begin with, to conclude 等标志性词语,则表明前后两句是逻辑上的并列关系,空格处很有可能是个并列的句子。
One is the establishment (制定) of broad basic policies with respect to production; sales; the purchase of equipment, materials and supplies; and accounting. __74__ The third relates to the establishment of standards of work in all departments.
E.The second aspect relates to the application of these policies by departments.
F.In the theory of business management organization has two main aspects.
表示递进关系的词有:too, also, besides, further, furthermore, moreover, what's more, in addition, as well, to make matters worse, not ...but ..., not only ...but also等。
First, understand that some opportunities (机会) for daydreaming are better than others.Feeling safe and relaxed will help you to slip into daydreams.__73__ And if you want to improve your chances of having a creative idea while you're daydreaming, try to do it while you are involved in another task — preferably something simple, like taking a shower or walking, or even making meaningless drawings.
A.Having interesting things to think about also helps.
D.At one time, daydreaming was thought to be a cause of some mental illnesses.
表示因果关系的词有:so/therefore, thus, consequently (结果), as a result (of), so/such ...that ...,so that ...
Unfortunately, we've all been victims of betrayal. Whether we've been stolen from, lied to, misled, or cheated on, there are different levels of losing trust. Sometimes people simply can't trust anymore. __37__ It's understandable, but if you're willing to build trust in a relationship again, we have some steps you can take to get you there.
D.Remember that you can expect the best in return.
E.They've been too badly hurt and they can't bear to let it happen again.
表示转折或对比关系的词有:but, however, yet, while/though, or/otherwise, on the contrary, instead, nevertheless (然而), still, yet, on the contrary, in contrast/comparison 等。
We slept in a tent, cooked over an open fire, and walked a long distance to take the shower and use the bathroom. This brief visit with Mother Nature cost me two days off from work, recovering from a bad case of sunburn and the doctor's bill for my son's food poisoning.
I was, nevertheless, talked into going on another funfilled holiday in the wilderness. __38__ Instead, we had a popup camper with comfortable beds and an air conditioner. My natureloving friends had remembered to bring all the necessities of life.
A.This time there was no tent.
B.Things are going to be improved.
根据前文“We slept in a tent ... and use the bathroom.” 而下文中“Instead, we had a popup camper with comfortable beds and an air conditioner.”

I was attending a party one night.During the dinner, the man sitting next to me told a humorous story and he spoke of a quotation.
The storyteller mentioned that the quotation was from the Bible. He was wrong.I knew that.I knew it for sure.__1__ And so, to get a feeling of importance and display my superiority, I tried to correct him.He stuck to his guns. What? From Shakespeare? Impossible! Absurd! It was from the Bible. And he knew it.
The storyteller was sitting on my right; and Frank Gammond, an old friend of mine, was seated on my left.Mr.Gammond had devoted years to the study of Shakespeare, so we asked him.He listened, kicked me under the table, and then said: “Dale, you are wrong. The gentleman is right.__2__”
On our way home that night, I said to Mr.Gammond: “Frank, you knew that quotation was from Shakespeare.”
“Yes, of course,” he replied, “Hamlet, Act Five, Scene Two.__3__ Why prove to a man that he is wrong? Is that going to make him like you? Why not let him save his face? Why argue with him?”
__4__ I not only had made the storyteller uncomfortable, but had put my friend in an embarrassing situation. How much better it would have been had I not started the argument.
Nine times out of ten, an argument ends with each side more firmly convinced than ever that he is absolutely right.__5__ You can't because if you lose it, you lose it; and if you win it, you lose it.

This might be the reason why we all sometimes think “What happens next?”, or “Why can't I think?”
__2__ Why reading but not watching TV? It is because reading has been the most educative tool used by us right from childhood. Since it develops other aspects of our life, we have to take help from reading.
When you read a book, of course you run your eyes through the lines and your mind tries to explain something to you. __3__ Now this seed is unknowingly used by you to develop new ideas. Alone But Not Lonely
In today's fastpaced society, we've become uncomfortable with silence. We try to find different types of activities that can help us escape feelings of laziness or boredom. __1__ Solitude (独处) does not have to be uncomfortable or lonely. In fact, solitude and loneliness are very different things.
The death of a loved one or the inability to find people who understand you can leave you feeling lonely. Even if you are surrounded by other people, it's natural to experience an emptiness while longing for love or acceptance. __2__
Geoffrey F. Fisher once said, “In cities, no one is quiet but many are lonely. __3__”
We often fill loneliness with all types of unsatisfying activities. Young people would rather spend a Friday night out with strangers, than spend the night alone. They're looking for a way to kill time while they await true friendship. Then there are young adults in gangs where they don't really like their companions. __4___ Why does being alone scare us?
Do not be afraid of silence. __5__ It teaches you how to truly listen. It teaches you to pay attention to what's going on inside of you. Only when we are alone can we have the space and peace we need to think without being outwardly influenced. It therefore becomes easier to make important decisions as well as to reflect on how we are feeling.
A.Loneliness is therefore a feeling that can be experienced whether or not one is physically alone.
B.They would rather feel accepted on a shallow level than risk feeling alone.
C.The problem of loneliness can be easily solved in a modern world.

(2017·浙江温州联考)She'd been a stray (走失的) cat in the warehouse where I worked and was different from other cats we owned. Minx was happy as long as we were around — she would even go sailing with us. If she accidentally scratched us when playing, she would lick (舔) us as if to apologize.
There was an old stray cat in our neighborhood and Minx always left some of her dinner for him. Her best friend was a cocker spaniel, and she would wait for the dog each day outside our front gate. When the owner walked the dog, he would wait while they rolled around, played a bit and cleaned each other. At night, she was always happy to wait for her dinner as long as we gave her a touch and a hug.
As Minx's delivery due date drew closer she began looking for places to give birth. I cleaned out the bottom of my cupboard, put some rags down and showed her the little bed for her. After a short inspection, Minx purred, rubbed my leg and continued on her way. I thought there would be little chance of its being suitable but I always left the door slightly open like in case.
One night soon afterwards, my husband and I had been out late and were chatting in the kitchen when she came in, meowed and ran out again. We thought it strange, but kept talking. Once more she came in, meowed and left. After a third time, we realized she wanted us to follow her. She led us to my cupboard where, with a lot of loud purring, she presented two tiny new kittens. She brought the pair out of the wardrobe and placed them at our feet. She was a very good mother.

Sevenyearold artist Kieron Williamson has sold his 16 watercolours for £17,000 in just 14 minutes, setting the world record for the youngest successful painter.
His latest paintings of landscapes (风景), seascapes and churches were supposed to be on display for a month at the Picturecraft gallery in Holt. They went on sale at 9 am but were bought by 9:14 am, some by telephone from abroad.
Kieron is red_hot. People are saying that he could become an alltime great artist. They want his paintings as investments (投资) because they think the price will go up.
The last child artist was Picasso. And Kieron is getting better and better. The pace at which he learns is quite amazing. He has a very mature mind and has mastered certain techniques at an early stage which some artists would take years to perfect. His work has been very unusual and impressive. His use of tone, colour and light is wonderful. The way he gets his paintings to do the talking is extremely good. He just paints when he wants. He still likes playing football and playing computer games like any other sevenyearolds.
Inspired to start painting on a family holiday in Devon and Cornwall, Kieron was just six when he asked his parents for paper to draw a boat and swiftly developed a mature and confident talent for seascapes and countryside scenes that has been described as close to the “young Picasso”.
The talented boy described his show's sellout success as “brilliant”. “Painting is my favourite hobby but I like football as well,” said Kieron, who is so absorbed in painting that he is always drawing from getting up to going to school.

Once, at a party, I was introduced to a friend of a friend. We shook hands, I told her my name, she told me hers. Then she did something that I was ever so grateful for. “Hang on,” she said. “Can you say your name again? I wasn't really listening.” She saved me from having to admit that I, too, had already forgotten her name. This is something that happens to even the most kind and cautious among us. No sooner does someone introduce themselves than the name flees our brains forever. There are a few reasons why this occurs:
When you meet a group of strangers with outstretched hands, your mind turns into a scared 9yearold at the school talent show. You're not watching the other shows; you're practicing your own movement. The process of both preparing to take in the others' names and to say your own is so tiring that you don't devote any brain power to actually learning the new names.
There are two types of memories in the brain: longterm and shortterm. The shortterm memory is called “working memory”, and it functions like a bottle with a crack. It doesn't hold much and it spills water out all the time. “You can hold just a little bit of information there and if you don't focus on it, it fades away rapidly,” Paul Reber, a psychology professor at Northwestern University, told me in an email,“Information like a name needs to be transferred to a different brain system that creates longterm memories that exist over time.”
Your level of interest can affect how well you remember something. “Some people, perhaps who are just more interested in people or more interested in relationships, would be more motivated to remember somebody's name,” Richard Harris, professor of psychology at Kansas State University said.

(2017·安徽黄山二次质检)When I was young, I wished for a good car and a big house. That was my idea of success. I took all the advanced classes and tried to do well in the exams with my mind set on going to a key school. I just knew that I would somehow become famous and be able to afford the car and the dream house. All the way through junior years, my mind was planning this beautiful future.
Then in the eleventh grade, many losses changed my mind. First, one of my friends died at 16. Soon after, my greatgrandmother passed away, followed by my beloved fourthgrade teacher. These events left me not knowing what to do or where to go. Death had never touched me so closely.
After a long period of emptiness, it finally struck me: Life is not promised and neither is future success. Though I was attempting to achieve material success, I was not enjoying my daily life. I realized that finding inner peace, purpose and happiness will stick with me forever and that is real success.
Enjoying life's precious quirks (偶发事件) makes an ordinary person more successful than a wealthy person who isn't content and takes everything for granted. The summer before senior years, my attitude changed greatly. Instead of memorizing facts, I began learning skills. Instead of focusing on the future, I focused on today and many blessings and successes that came with it.
I still get excellent grades, but now I devote weeks to studying instead of struggling for exams, and I think about the future with a deeper sense of meaning. For me, being successful means truly living life each day.

(2017·湖南衡阳第二次联考)For visitors, Teller Lake in Colorado looks like a fishbowl filled with thousands of gorgeous goldfish. However, to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Department they are a group of dangerous species that could end up destroying the lake's ecosystem.
The problem is that these fish aren't native to the lake, which means they have no predators (捕食者). This allows them to multiply in large numbers. Park officials believe that most of them are a result of a few unwanted pet goldfish that were thrown into the lake.
While that may appear to be a kind thing to do, it is extremely dangerous, not to mention illegal. That's because as this nonnative species grow in numbers, they compete with the existing fish for food sources like small insects. Given that there is only a limited supply of resources, this could result in the goldfish overpowering the native fish species. In the case of Teller Lake, the officials are particularly worried that the goldfish will move downstream and affect the population of some of the endangered native species that live there. Another major cause for concern is the diseases the goldfish may be carrying.
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife biologists, therefore, have no option but to remove the fish from the lake in the most efficient manner. The fish will then be fed to injured birds like eagles and osprey.
Experts say that most owners believe they are doing the “right thing” by returning their pet to the wilderness. However, saving one pet often results in destroying the area's ecosystem and hurting other animals. According to experts, the best way to dispose_of unwanted fish or any other animal is to get advice from the people that sold the pet.

A new generation addiction is quickly spreading all over the world. Webaholism, a twentieth century disease, affects people from different ages. They surf the Net, use email and speak in chat rooms. They spend many hours on the computer, and it becomes a compulsive habit. They cannot stop, and it affects their lives.
Decades ago, no one thought that using computers could become compulsive behavior that could affect the social and physical life of computer users. This obsessional behavior has affected teenagers and college students. They are likely to log on computers and spend long hours at different websites.
They become hooked on computers and gradually their social and school life is affected by this situation. They spend all free time surfing and don't concentrate on homework, so this addiction influences their grades and success at school. Because they can find everything on the websites, they hang out there. Moreover, this addiction to websites influences their social life.
They spend more time in front of computers than with their friends. The relation with their friends changes. The virtual life becomes more important than their real life. They have a new language that they speak in the chat rooms and it causes cultural changes in society.
Because of the change in their behavior, they begin to isolate themselves from the society and live with their virtual friends. They share their emotions and feelings with friends who they have never met in their life. Although they feel confident on the computer, they are not confident with real live friends they have known all their life. It is a problem for the future. Vacations are important. We need to take time out from work to relax, and just be ourselves. __11__ We should all be allowed to leave our jobs behind us — at least for a few weeks each year — and just have fun. This might be something as simple as reading a good book in front of a warm fireplace through to travelling to the most interesting places on our planet. Whatever we fancy doing is worth taking time out for.
Workplace stress is on the rise. __12__ These include disease, depression and even death. We all seem to be running from one place to the next, never finding out where we want to go in the first place. I intend to break that trend in the coming days.
__13__ I will sleep late, write, watch movies, drink the occasional glass of wine, and eat to my heart's content ignoring calorie counting. My plan is to just enjoy the fleeting moments of being alive.
__14__ Spend your next vacation the way you want. Do what will restore your mental health. You're very valuable to the people who are close to you, and to those who depend on it. Like it or not, we are all interdependent in this great life of ours.
You are valuable. Just remember that the next time you look at the mirror and take a deep breath. Remind yourself that there will never be anyone like you ever on this earth again. __15__ All you have to do is just ask yourself what you want to do.

B.When you finally get home you'll be greatly refreshed.

(2017·福建福州质检)Jack was born without eyes. He was very lucky as he grew up having other kittens (young cats) to socialize with, and was used to people from the moment he was born. However, when it came time to find the kittens' homes, no one knew where Jack would end up.
That's when I got an email from my friend. All she asked was “Do you still want one of the kittens? There's one here with no eyes and no one would like to take him.” Without thinking, I told her that I did want the kitten.
When we first brought him home, Jack stayed mostly in my room. After about a day he had no issues running around and climbing on everything. At times he gets lost in the house, he'll stop. But we just call him and talk to him and it isn't long before he finds his way back to us.
A few weeks after getting Jack, we got a new farm cat named Bear. Jack and Bear have become best friends. It doesn't matter that he can't see. He always knows when Bear is around. He'll run across the yard straight to Bear and wrap his front legs around his neck in a big hug. They run after each other around and wrestle. They'll lie down in the grass together when tired.
Jack is truly an inspiration. I've owned lots of kittens in my life, but Jack is the happiest and most playful. He doesn't feel sorry for himself. He doesn't need pity. I think Jean, owner of Gumbo, another eyeless cat, said it best when she told me that cats don't have disability, they have adaptability.

As Charlotte arrived at the big living room, her mother Sarah and her new stepfather (继父) Robert Graham turned from the window and faced her. We shall never have mom to ourselves again, Charlotte thought. If only she were just a kid, and could cry wildly in anger on the floor!
Instead, she forced a smile. She rushed forward and threw her arms round Sarah and kissed her wildly, knocking her hat crooked (歪的) and making her cry out.
“Darling! You'll knock me down!”
“You look great, Mom!” Charlotte cried and knew she was shouting. She was hot again, red and untidy and looking like the last kind of girl any man would want to have as a stepdaughter.
Her brother Nicholas, however, went to the other extreme. He was so calm that he was positively rude, and Charlotte knew before he started it that he was going to act like a bad schoolboy.
“Oh Nicholas, do behave!” Sarah cried. “Robert, they're showing off!”
Although she was laughing, they both heard the little ring of disappointment in her voice, and both knew that they were letting her down. They had surely never had such a difficult moment.
It was Robert Graham who saved the situation. He came forward holding out both hands.
“I am deeply grateful to you two young people. You've had Sarah to yourselves for a long time. Thank you for agreeing to share her with me. I know it can't be easy.”
And although this was just the sort of words they would call dull, the sincerity (真诚) gave it a guarantee. They knew he meant what he said. He was indeed thanking them. And by doing so he pulled them back to reality and made them themselves again.

No woman can be too rich or too thin. This saying often attributed to the late Duchess (公爵夫人) of Windsor embodies much of the odd spirit of our times. Being thin is deemed as such a virtue.
The problem with such a view is that some people actually attempt to live by it. I myself have fantasies of slipping into narrow designer clothes. Consequently, I have been on a diet for the better — or worse — part of my life. Being rich wouldn't be bad either, but that won't happen unless an unknown relative dies suddenly in some distant land, leaving me millions of dollars.
Where did we go off the track? When did eating butter become a sin, and a little bit of extra flesh unappealing, if not repellent? All religions have certain days when people refrain from eating and excessive eating is one of Christianity's seven deadly sins. However, until quite recently, most people had a problem getting enough to eat. In some religious groups, wealth was a symbol of probable salvation and high morals, and fatness a sign of wealth and wellbeing.
Today the opposite is true. We have shifted to thinness as our new mark of virtue. The result is that being fat — or even only somewhat overweight — is bad because it implies a lack of moral strength.
Our obsession with thinness is also fueled by health concerns. It is true that in this country we have more overweight people than ever before, and that in many cases, being overweight correlates with an increased risk of heart and blood vessel disease. These diseases, however, may have as much to do with our way of life and our highfat diets as with excess weight. And the associated risk of cancer in the digestive system may be more of a dietary problem — too much fat and a lack of fiber — than a weight problem.
The real concern, then, is not that we weigh too much, but that we neither exercise enough nor eat well. Exercise is necessary for strong bones and both heart and lung health. A balanced diet without a lot of fat can also help the body avoid many diseases. We should surely stop paying so much attention to weight. Simply being thin is not enough. It is actually hazardous if those who get (or already are) thin think they are automatically healthy and thus free from paying attention to their overall lifestyle. Thinness can be pure vain glory.

Setting aside for a rainy day
It's a common regret in life that we spend more than we save — money that could go into a savings account or into a pension.Whatever age you are, it's never too late to start thinking about saving for your future. Here are several ways to get you going.
__11__
It's hard to know what you can afford to save if you don't have an accurate budget, so doing this is a key first step.Once you've made a record of everything you spend each month and everything you earn, you'll be able to see how much money you have left.
Get into a regular habit
__12__. Payday is great as you won't be tempted (诱惑) to spend the cash. You can also set up a standing order to move money automatically into a savings account each month, so you won't forget.
__13__
There are different places you can put your savings, from taxfree ISAs (Individual Saving Accounts) to highinterest current accounts.Wherever you choose, keep an eye on the interest rate. Many have high rates for the first year and drop down afterwards.__14__.
Set yourself a goal
If you know exactly what you're saving for, it's far more likely you'll keep putting money away.__15__.It's also worth thinking about building an emergency fund for unexpected expenditures.
A.The earlier the better
B.Earn as much interest as you can
C.Find out what you can afford to save
D.If that happens, look to move your money elsewhere
E.Choose a fixed day each month to put money into savings
F.If you don't have much left after bills and essentials, you can use your budget to find ways to cut back
G.It could be to make sure you're comfortable in the future and have a relatively high standard of living

12.选E 由本段标题“Get into a regular habit”及下一句中的“Payday is great”可知,这里是说“每月选择固定的时间存钱”。
15.选G 设空处与下一句“It's also worth thinking about ...”

(2018届高三·金华十校调研)For many Chinese young people, a routine Spring Festival Eve means a big meal with the whole family, an occasional glimpse of the Spring Festival Gala on TV, and most importantly, talking to friends on your cellphone. But Su Hanting, a 16yearold boy, spent last year's Spring Festival Eve at a desk, translating a classic work of English literature.
Su started translating The Story of King Arthur and His Knights (1903), a 120, 000word by an American author, Howard Pyle, during his winter vacation. He didn't take a break during the biggest festival of the year. “Every second counts,” Su said.
Like many teenagers of his age, Su enjoys reading both Chinese and English classics. But the idea of translating only occurred to him by chance — he was just helping his classmates to figure out some of the medieval (中世纪的) place names in this book. But once he started, he couldn't stop. For the ancient place names and the titles of the Knights, he searched online, looked for maps in the library and read historical documents related to King Arthur. Meanwhile, he also read the original novel over and over again to make sure of the thoughts and emotions as well as possible.
His preparation paid_off. It only took him three months, mostly during his winter vacation, to translate the book. And that includes the time he lost after finishing 80,000 words that were gone because of a computer bug. The translated version came out on November 15th and has won high praise from experts.

“I have nothing to wear!” You might have said to yourself, feeling slightly distressed, wardrobe door wide open, hours before going to a party or important event. Casual or formal? Is this too fancy? Should I be more neatly dressed?
How strictly should we follow fashion rules? “Never mix patterns” is one of them. “It's unnecessary,” says Martine Alexander, adviser to British TV actresses. “Matching everything makes you look like you've tried too hard. Style should look effortless.”
Well, just be careful not to make people's eyes go funny when they look at you, I say.
Men have the issue of white socks. “Unless you're exercising there is absolutely no appropriate moment to wear white socks,” says Alex Bilmes, editor of the men's magazine Esquire. And he adds,“These types of rules exist to make sure fashion innocents don't make such a bad mistake.”
We all know that white socks are usually bulky and may look cheap. But there's a long British tradition of men wearing socks with sandals (凉鞋). So ... Maybe critics should just let us wear what we are comfortable with.
When you look a particular way, you are sending a message about yourself. It's not a good idea to go to a job interview wearing shorts or going to the market in your pajamas. But, whatever you wear, do it with confidence.
“I don't do fashion. I am fashion,” said Coco Chanel. And designer Gianni Versace said it all, “Don't be into trends. Don't make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, and what you want to express, by the way you dress and the way you live.”

Can dogs and cats live in perfect harmony in the same home? People who are thinking about adopting a dog as a friend for their cats are worried that they will fight. A recent research has found a new recipe of success. According to the study, if the cat is adopted before the dog, and if they are introduced when still young (less than 6 months for cats, a year for dogs), it is highly probable that the two pets will get along swimmingly. Twothirds of the homes interviewed reported a positive relationship between their cat and dog.
However, it wasn't all sweetness and light. There was a reported coldness between the cat and dog in 25% of the homes, while aggression and fighting were observed in 10% of the homes. One reason for this is probably that some of their body signals were just opposite. For example, when a cat turns its head away it signals aggression, while a dog doing the same signals submission (服从).
In homes with cats and dogs living peacefully, researchers observed a surprising behavior. They are learning how to talk each other's language. It is a surprise that cats can learn how to talk “dog”, and dogs can learn how to talk “cat”.
What's interesting is that both cats and dogs have appeared to develop their intelligence. They can learn how to read each other's body signals, suggesting that the two may have more in common than we previously suspected. Once familiar with each other's presence and body language, cats and dogs can play together, greet each other nose to nose, and enjoy sleeping together on the sofa. They can easily share the same water bowl and in some cases groom (梳理) each other.
The significance of the research on cats and dogs may go beyond pets — to people who don't get along, including neighbors, colleagues at work, and even world superpowers. If cats and dogs can learn to get along, surely people have a good chance.
