    Ecobee3 Smarter WiFi Thermostat
Smart thermostats have become the face of smart home technology for most, but depending on what your home is like, it's possible to say the ecobee3 in superior.
Most of the smart thermostats carry the same benefits, including the ecobee3. They can learn your preferences and schedules, and then adjust the temperature accordingly. They're better-looking and more enjoyable to use than the basic pieces of plastic that occupy most households. Their very presence will probably make you more conscious about saving energy. And once you're able to heat up or cool down your house from your phone, without having to get out of bed, you won't want to go back.
If you live in a larger household, the ecobee3 can be much more convenient-- provided you pick up a couple more remote sensors. Yes, it gets pretty expensive at that point, but having those gives you effective control over the temperature in different rooms around your house. In comparison, other thermostats’ measurements are largely limited to the area in which they're installed (安装).
If you live in a smaller place, that's no big deal; the ecobee3 still has distinct advantages. It is touch-enabled and more spacious, making it less annoying when you want to enter a WiFi password, see weather information, and so on.
Still, all the smart thermostats are pretty great. Which one is best just depends on whether you need a whole-home solution or a more straightforward one. For now, if it's the former, go with the ecobee3.
Ecobee3 Smarter WiFi Thermostat with Remote Sensor, available at all shopping websites.
21.What is the function of the ecobee3?
    A.Planning schedules. B.Making decoration.
    C.Adjusting temperatures. D.Storing information.
    22.What makes the ecobee3 superior?
A.It can be operated easily by phone. B.It is a product without using energy.
C.It is much more convenient in a larger area. D.It may work without access to WiFi networks.
23.Where can you probably find the passage?
A.An official report. B.A science book. C.A popular magazine. D.A public advertisement.
    B
In today’s global world, more and more people travel to foreign countries. Cross cultural awareness and an understanding of foreign etiquette is important if you want to succeed as an international business person. Behaviour that is polite at home may be considered rude in another country. In particular, by learning about dining etiquette and table manners, you can avoid offending people and this can directly influence your business success.
John Smith’s book The Perfect Guest is a goldmine of information for the globe - trotting business person. There are chapters dedicated to all the main problem areas of dining etiquette and entertaining in different countries and tips on how to cope with embarrassing situations.
These are some of the areas which are covered in the book.
        Seating arrangements
Whether you are eating at a restaurant or at someone’s home, there may be a fixed protocol of who sits where. Do men and women sit together? Is there a hierarchy according to age or status? Rules vary greatly. For example, inKorea, it is customary to offer the best seat to the most senior person; in theUS, there are no specific seating rules. If you don’t know where to sit, wait until your host shows you.
        Conversation
Is the dining table the right place to have a conversation or is the meal taken in silence? In France, for instance, the meal is a social affair with loud animated conversations and most topics are acceptable, including business. In Japanor Vietnam, on the other hand, only quiet conversation is acceptable and business is never conducted at the dinner table.
        Food
What type of food is popular? Is it polite to remark on the food? Should you eat everything or leave some food on your plate? Is it polite to ask for the salt and pepper if it isn’t on the table? And how can you deal with a food delicacy that you find disgusting? In Europe, it is polite to eat everything on your plate whereas this would be considered rude in Egypt. If you clean your plate, it will be filled up again immediately.
24.Who is most likely to find the information useful?
    A.A business person. B.A scientist. C.A student. D.A soldier.
25.When you are a guest in the US, where should you sit?
A.In the best seat. B.Where your host shows you to sit.
C.Wherever you like. D.Next to the senior.
26.You leave food on your plate in Egypt ________.

C.to show that you don’t like the food D.but it is considered rude
27.The passage mainly tells us _______.
A.cross cultural dining etiquette B.cultural differences around the world
C.how to improve cultural awareness D.why the book is worth buying
    C
This week, a mammoth (猛犸象) possibly killed by humans 10,000 to 15,000 years ago was found in soy fields about 50 miles west of Detroit.
It was found by farmer James Bristle and his neighbor Trent Satterthwaite, who were reportedly digging in the field. At first, they couldn’t figure out what they were seeing.“It was probably a rib bone that came up,” Bristle tells Ann Arbor News. “We thought it was a bent fence post.” Upon closer inspection, however, it became clear even to untrained eyes this was no fence post. “We knew it was something special.” Then they sped up the dig.
After finding the bones Monday night, Bristle called the University of Michigan Tuesday morning to report his find. Scientist Daniel Fisher arrived to inspect it Wednesday, and by Thursday morning he had confirmed it’s a woolly mammoth. He concludes the animal was about 40 years old when it died. It was hunted by humans, he says, who killed it arid stored the remains in a pond as a way of preserving the meat for future use. It’s still too early to tell exactly how it died, Fisher tells Detroit’s WWJ-TV, “but the skeleton showed signs of human’s butchering.”
The bones are being temporarily stored nearby, according to the Free Press, and it remains unclear where they’ll eventually end up. Their research value will be determined once they’ve been cleaned and dried.
Woolly mammoths once lived in Eurasia and North America, and most disappeared by 10,000 years ago—a demise (终止) that has been linked not only to humans, but also to changing climate. It’s now believed that warming weather weakened their populations before humans dealt the final blows.
28.How did James Bristle and his neighbor find what they found at first?
    A.It’s delicate. B.It’s old. C.It’s unique. D.It’s worthless.
29.What can we know about the mammoth according to the text?
A.It might die in its 40s. B.It was native to Eurasia.
C.It preferred walking in the fields. D.It mainly died from climate change.
    30.Which is Daniel Fisher’s opinion?
A.The bones are well worth studying.
B.The mammoth was killed by a butcher.
C.The newfound site has evidence of human activity.
D.It’s unclear whether the bones were a mammoth’s.
31.What does the underlined part in the last paragraph mean?
A.Dried their bones. B.Took their lives. C.Destroyed their home. D.Preserved their meat.
    D
In a time where power-banks and solar-power devices(设备) have become mainstream, a device that lets you charge gadgets(小物件)as you wish doesn’t sound very special. But while power-banks have to be charged the old way, and solar batteries need the sun to store energy, HandEnergy just needs a hand.
The working principle behind HandEnergy is that of a two-axis rotor gyroscope(双轴转子陀螺仪). “You may be familiar with the wrist-training device called the Powerball, which is a powerful handheld gyroscope,”HandEnergy co-founder Alex Novik told Digital Trends. “We came up with the idea of putting a battery, metal coil(线圈)and magnets(磁铁)inside a similar device for making electricity. We spent a year developing it, and finally arrived at one we were happy with.”
To use HandEnergy, users start by winding a starter ring. This sends a signal to drive the rotor, at which point they can start rotating(旋转)their wrists to keep the rotor spinning. The rotor inside HandEnergy spins at an average speed of 5, 000 rotations per minute, conveying mechanical power to create electricity, and charging the built-in batteries. To charge a device, just hook it up to HandEnergy using a USB data line.
“We don’t necessarily think this will be something you use every day, because it takes around one hour to reach full charge’’,Novik says. “But it’s small enough to fit in your pocket, and you can use it anywhere.”
Actually, HandEnergy charges smartphones at the same speed as a power outlet(插座). The battery only has a capacity of 1, 000 mAh, so it won’t charge your phone completely at a time, but it can surely keep it running for a while longer when you really need it. Plus, it uses clean, unlimited energy.
HandEnergy will be available for the masses soon, at a price of 99 Euros. One thing is for sure—it beats paying thousands of dollars on a solar-powered battery-charging coat.
32.Why is HandEnergy considered to be special?
A.It’s able to charge a gadget anytime anywhere.
B.It produces clean energy on an unlimited basis.
C.It charges a gadget with users’ personal energy.
D.It’s so small that you can carry it with yourself.
33.The Powerball is mentioned in Paragraph 2 just in order to show .
A.how HandEnergy is produced B.what HandEnergy looks like
C.what HandEnergy can do D.how HandEnergy works
34.What is the disadvantage of HandEnergy?
A.It is difficult to create it. B.It takes longer to charge it.
C.It can be used only once. D.It produces too little energy.
35.What is the author’s attitude towards HandEnergy?
    A.Supportive. B.Opposed. C.Doubtful. D.Unconcerned.

I konw you are fond of traditional Chinese culture, too , especially Tang poetry , which is quite popular in and out of China.
Holding this party just aims  to appreciate and promote Tang poetry.
I believe it will offer you a good chance to learn and experience it more in another way. Remem ber : 8:00pm, Saturdy our school hall! Look forward to your attendance on time and enjoy yourself.
    Best wishes,
    Li Hua
