A dog has received an award for picking up a number of beer cans, coffee cups, and other pieces of trash, helping clean up her neighborhood in the process. It’s unclear if Daisy is aware of her service, but her help has not gone unnoticed, by any means.
In fact, it is reported that the nine-year-old dog has picked up more than 5,000 pieces of rubbish.Daisy has been collecting rubbish for the last eight years, at least two times a day.Coming from the city of Worcester in the United Kingdom, Daisy has become the first dog to receive an honor from the mayor (市长).Unlike other dogs, Daisy prefers sniffing around for beer cans, amongst other things. She carries them back home to her owner, Judy Owens, who then takes her pet’s offerings and recycles them.
“I wish Daisy understood how special she was and the award just marks what a special little dog she is,” Judy said.“She started picking up rubbish when she was around one and I think she discovered it by accident.”
“One day she just sniffed out a beer can and then it just carried on from there to the coffee cup and plastic bottles,” she continued.“She gets very attached to rubbish, she must think it’s some kind of treasure.”
Daisy has become something of a celebrity in her town, often known as the dog who helps get rid of all the rubbish. Then, the mayor of Worcester, Jabba Riaz, invited Judy and Daisy to come to his office.“When we arrived he told us that Daisy would be receiving the award because he wanted to make people more conscious of looking after the environment and to thank her for her contribution over the years,” Judy said.
“It was such a surprise…Daisy thought this was great and went to sit on the mayor’s chair with a beer can in her mouth.Everyone thought she was funny and started laughing.”

In recent times, becoming vegetarian or vegan has become more popular, but is still not the best option for many.If you may be contemplating removing meat from your diet but do not want to go completely meat-free, perhaps try going meat-free for just one day a week.
Sharon Palmer, a registered dietician and author of Plant-Powered for Life, discusses how “Research consistently shows that plant-based diets are linked with a lower risk of obesity, hypertension, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer.”
She continues, “Even going meatless one day a week can make a difference, as you increase all of those whole plant foods—beans, whole grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits—and decrease more animal foods, in particular red and processed meat.High intakes of these foods have been linked with increased disease risk.”
Deciding to have a more plant-based diet also increases your intake of fiber, vitamins, healthy fats and minerals. To help to do, stocking your fridge with a variety of beans, seasonal veggies, whole grains, herbs, nuts, and seeds is Palmer’s secret to eating more plant-based meals.
Palmer’s other recommendation is “plantifying” your favorite dishes.“Just make your favorite entrees or meals plant-based, with a few swaps. If you love taco Tuesday, make your tacos veggie by skipping the meat and serving black beans or a vegetarian mushroom tofu filling. If you love Indian food, skip the chicken masala and have chickpea masala instead. These will be foods you already love and are familiar with.”
Her biggest advice is to pick one day a week to follow through with this and mark it on your calendar.“I love the Meatless Monday idea because people often start their best behaviors at the beginning of the week.… However, there may be a better day of the week for you, so just plan it,” Palmer said.
28.In the first paragraph, the underlined word “contemplating” most probably means “ ”.

C.use vegetable fillings, not meat for jiaozi D.plan a meatless day of the week as you like
31.From the text we can conclude that Palmer’s advice is .
    A.theoretical B.practical C.boring D.unrealistic
    D
Technological advancements in society have certainly helped in many ways, but when it comes to finding the right job, is machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) reducing our opportunities, as well as the recruitment (招聘) process?
After applying for over 55 jobs, a graduate from Cardiff University named Peter Lane, felt that the interview process was not at all as he was expecting.Hoping to get into business consulting, Lane found that “They were all video-based screening interviews—I didn’t even meet my potential employers. There was no way to tell if I’d impressed them with my answers or experience as there was no human interaction.”
Not only are interviews done online, but the automated rejection letters are another issue for the young graduate.“Only 10% of potential employers have given me detailed feedback,” he says.“As jobseekers, we need to know where and how we can improve—whether that’s with our resumes, job experience or even personality.”
The reality, however, is this is the new world of tech-driven recruitment and something we are going to have to get used to.Employers do not have the time for hiring and firing, so to automate as much as possible, will work mostly in their favor.
As for AI, it is the answer to many corporate recruitments prayers.“AI helps reduce those unconscious and conscious biases (偏见) in recruitment practices by removing common tendencies, like hiring those similar to you and first impressions,” highlights Elle Robinson from management consultancy Kiddy & Partners.
“By observing speech, tone and facial movements in filmed interviews, well-programmed steps can both speed up the recruitment process and more objectively determine suitable candidates based on the core criteria for a role.” Furthermore, computers work much faster at checking resumes and can point out the better applicants amongst the long list of keywords associated with the job role. The system creates a digital profile of not just data from their resume, but their responses via assessments and video interviews.
32.The first paragraph mainly wants to .
A.tell readers the writer’s main idea B.introduce the topic of the text
C.show the writer’s personal doubt D.ask for an immediate answer
33.Some jobseekers don’t like machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) because .
A.it can’t give them necessary feedback B.it can’t give an objective judgment
C.it affects their interview performance D.it dissatisfies their potential employers
34.In employers’ view, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) can .
A.stop hiring employees of personalities B.reject many badly written resumes
C.bring much technology advancement D.be more effective and objective
35.We can infer that machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) .
A.has left out a great number of excellent applicants
B.is really perfect for both jobseekers and employers
C.will continue to be used though jobseekers dislike it
D.will soon greatly satisfy both employees and employers

People refuse to change the things they hate because they’re afraid.Once you let go of your fears, you’ll realize that whatever happens, you’ll be OK and be able to create a better, happier life for yourself. 36
Make a list of the things you hate about your life.Be specific.Don’t say “I hate my job” but instead list the things you hate about it, such as your schedule, the pay or your coworkers.Do the same with other areas of your life. 37 If you hate your body, your lack of self-respect or the way you act with others, include that in your list as well.
38 For example, you can ask for a raise, start looking for a new job or work on a better relationship with your coworkers. If you feel overwhelmed, start with smaller steps, such as listing the positive things about the things you hate. You might hate your job, but you also have a firm monthly salary and medical benefits.
Let go of the past. You might not be able to forgive your parents, your ex or that friend that hurt you, but you don’t need to let the pain rule your life either.Katie Byron, author of “Loving What Is”, emphasizes the importance of accepting that certain things cannot be changed. 39
Keep a Thank You journal. 40 Every day, try to find a few things you’re grateful for.It can be something as simple as having somebody give you his seat in the bus or opening the door for you.Or it can be a compliment or an email from a friend.Focusing on the positive will make it easier to see that good things are also part of your life.
A.Don’t look only outside your life.
B.A good change is as good as a rest.
C.But how can you stop hating your life?
D.List positive things you can do to change.
E.Never trouble trouble until trouble troubles you.
F.This will help you focus on the positive in your life.

    62.as。come as no surprise:
    63.reported。
    64.likely。be likely to do sth
    65.watching。这是with +n.+-ing结构。
    66.is called。
    67.that。
    68.actively。
    69.stories。
    70.to attract。
    71.and—or。dumplings和jiaozi指的是同一物,所以将and改为or。
    72.dated—dates。
    73.Although—As/Since/Because。
    74.lucks—luck。luck
    75.Traditional—Traditionally。
    76.the New—New。New Year或New Year’s Eve前面不用冠词。
    77.Make—Making。-ing
    78.place—from place。from place to place
    79.other—others。some…others…
    80.very—well。

Indonesian university student Tyas Sisianindita spends about eight hours a day on her phone. That time includes watching videos, chatting with friends and using social media.
“I realize that I am addicted,” she said, noting she checks her phone countless times from morning until night. She even checks it while in class.
“At night, when I can’t sleep, I can use my phone for up to five hours,” she said.
Tyas goes to the University of Indonesia, where a team of students recently developed an object meant to fight phone addiction.
The object is called “Nettox”, which combines the words “internet” and “detox”. “Detox” means a treatment to stop one from being addicted.Users wear it on their arm.The object has a sensor that measures hemoglobin oxygen levels and changes to the heart rate called HRV.
Studies have found that using a mobile phone for long hours can lower HRV levels. The Nettox object makes a sound when HRV and blood oxygen levels fall, which reminds wearers to stop using their phones.
For people between the ages of 18 and 25, the HRV should stay above 60.
At a recent trial, Tyas’s HRV reading was 44.
The team is working to improve Nettox’s accuracy.
    I’m Alice Bryant.(停20秒)
