As is the case with dgs, a twitching (抽动) tail can mean a little anger while a tail held high suggests cnfidence. Nuclear expert Peng Shilu nce said that he nly did tw things in his entire life: ne was t build nuclear submarines(核潜艇), and the ther t build nuclear pwer plants. At that time, the central gvernment decided t select a grup f utstanding students studying abrad t transfer t the atmic energy majr. Peng willingly agreed, marking the beginning f his lifelng cmmitment t develping China's nuclear pwer.
In 1958, China started t independently develp its wn nuclear submarines, and Peng was appinted t take charge f the research and design f the nuclear prpulsin system. In the 1980s, China decided t build a cmmercial nuclear pwer plant. Appinted as the directr-in-chief, Peng nce again devted himself t its preparatin and cnstructin.
During his career, Peng held a variety f high-ranking titles. In 1994, he was elected as an academician f the Chinese Academy f Engineering, ne f the tp academic bdies in China.
Peng passed away in Beijing n March 22, 2021 at the age f 96. The Publicity Department f the Cmmunist Party f China Central Cmmittee awarded the title "Rle Mdel f the Times" t Peng fr his cntributins.
