    Scientists have lng lked fr the surce f this pwerful sting. Nw researchers have discvered what makes the tree's sting s bad.     吴王寿梦有四个儿子:长子叫谒;次子叫余祭;三子叫夷昧;少子叫季札,被称为延陵季子,在兄弟中数他最贤能,三个兄长都知道这一点。于是吴王寿梦死后,长子谒要将王位让给季子,季子始终不肯接受。谒便作誓约说:“季子贤能,如果君位传给季子,那么吴国就能兴盛。(我们)就按照兄弟次序继承王位。”(他)每当吃饭时便祈祷说:“但愿我能早死,把君位传给季子。”谒死后,余祭继位;余祭死后,夷昧继位;夷昧死后,轮到季子继位。这时季子出使在外,不在国内。他的庶兄僚说:“我也是兄长。”就自立为吴王。季子出使回国,侍奉吴王僚跟侍奉从前的吴王一样。谒的儿子公子光说:“按照我父亲的意愿,王位应当归于季子;按照继承王位的礼法,那么我是嫡子,应当代替他继承王位。僚凭什么(做吴王)!”于是派专诸刺杀吴王僚,行刺成功后,将王位让给季子。季子说:“你杀死我的国君,我再接受你的国家,那么我就是和你一同篡位的人了。”(他)最终离开吴国去到延陵,终身不再进入吴国。君子认为他不行杀戳是仁慈,不要王位是道义。不将国家作为自身的私产,抛弃诸侯之位不觉得遗憾,放弃尊贵地位没有愤恨,可以说接近“至公”的境界了。
    秦始皇吞并了天下之后,便召集群臣商议说:“古代五帝传位让贤,夏、商、周三代之君世袭,哪一种做法对?我将采用对的做法。”七十个博士官没有一人回答。鲍白令之回答说:“天下公有,那么禅让贤人就对;天下私有,那么世袭就对。所以五帝是以天下为公有,三王是以天下为私有。”秦始皇仰天长叹说:“我的国运出自五帝(秦统一中国之后,依照‘五德终始说’,宣扬秦代周是‘水德’代替‘火德’),我将以天下为公有,谁可以在我之后接替君位呢?”鲍白令之回答说:“陛下做的是桀纣那样的事,却想模仿五帝禅让王位,这不是陛下所能做到的。”秦始皇大怒说:“令之上前来!你凭什么说我做的是桀纣那样的事?赶快说清楚,说不出道理就处死你。”鲍白令之回答说:“请允许我说一说。陛下修筑楼台上接云霄,建造宫殿连亘五里,造重达千石的大钟,铸重达万石的钟鼓架(‘簴’音jù,本指挂钟磬的架子上的立柱)。嫔妃数百,艺人上千。兴建骊山宫室到(咸阳的)雍门,接连不断。为了一己的享乐,耗尽天下的资财,竭尽全国的民力。这样自私自利,而不顾及他人。陛下是所说的只为自己谋利的君主,哪能与五帝的德行相比,(竟然)想要以天下为公有呢?”秦始皇默不作声,无言以对,脸上有羞惭的神色。于是放弃了这个打算,再也没有禅让天下的意思了。

    诗人虽则早年并不如东汉时定远侯班超初为佣书吏(在官府中抄写公文),后来投笔从戎,定西域三十六国,可是见此三边壮气,却也雄心勃勃,要学西汉时济南书生终军,向皇帝请发长缨,缚番王来朝,立一下奇功了。尾联连用了两个典故。第一个是“投笔从戎”:东汉班超原在官府抄公文,一日,感叹说,大丈夫应该“立功异域”,后来果然在处理边事上立了大功。第二个是“终军请缨”:终军向皇帝请求出使南越说服归附,为表现自己有足够的信心,他请皇帝赐给长带子,说是在捆南越王时要用它。祖咏用了这两个典故,意思很明白,更有豪气顿生之感。
