    Hwever, by piecing tgether suggestins frm the text, the scientists were able t determine that the dye was made frm the bluish-green berries f the chrzphra tinctria plant. After an extensive search, the team fund a few varieties f the plant grwing alng the radside near the twn f Mnsaraz in suth Prtugal.
    The detailed instructins gave the researchers critical clues, including the best time t pick the berries. “Yu need t squeeze the fruits, being careful nt t break the seeds, and then t put them n linen (亚麻).” The scientist says the detail was imprtant since brken seeds plluted the pigment, prducing an inferir quality ink. The dyed linen, which was left t dry, was an efficient way t stre and transprt the pigment during ancient times.
