    It was twards the beginning f last year that I had made a discvery in my thrat. It seemed like a lump and I didn’t give it much attentin althugh smetimes it did bther me. But it wasn’t until March that I came t knw I was suffering frm thyrid cancer.
    The wrd cancer has always scared me. It always made me think abut death but I had always thught that cancer was nly fr peple aged 40 and up; yung kids like me didn’t get cancer! Needless t say, the news was shcking. I culdn’t believe it. I thught, “This is wrng; it can’t be!” But the reality was that I had thyrid cancer and had t fight and succeed in the end.
    My parents came hme with the devastating news and they were heartbrken. That was when it all started-- ne bld test after anther, a painful bipsy, many ther scans and X-rays.
    Unfrtunately the dctrs were never able t find the cause f this disease ccurring amng yung kids. All they said was that “we need t take her thyrid ut befre it’s t late.”
    On August 2nd, 2007, arund 10 am the surgery was dne and the dctrs were able t remve my thyrid gland. I wke up and saw all these tubes attached t my thrat and nse. The next cuple f days were t painful filled with just mre bld tests. Success as I achieved, I still bear the scar n my neck, a reminder f what I have been thrugh. I am nt saying this fr any srt f sympathy but it is the incident that has truly changed my life.
