Lynn Clwell is an artist in Redmnd, Washingtn. In grade schl, a teacher tld her she had n artistic talent and Lynn believed her. Until 2015, that is, when she retired. She started painting striking pictures f wmen’s faces, cmbined with shrt messages f hpe. In five years, she’s cmpleted abut 1,000 paintings. Then she read abut a mvement called Art Abandnment, which encurages artists t leave their art in public places fr anyne t pick up. That gave her the idea f putting her wrk int the hands f strangers thrugh Facebk.
Lynn wanted t feel she was making a difference in the wrld. She was interested in living simply, prtecting the envirnment and giving back. She wndered if her paintings culd inspire thers. What if she asked peple t dnate t their favrite nnprfit in exchange fr ne f her wrks? Five years later, her paintings have raised mre than $57,000 fr nnprfits such as animal rescue centers, hmeless shelters and fr peple wh have lst their jbs r been struggling with medical bills. Lynn spends mst f her time in her art studi – there’s painting t be dne. “I wake up every day and can’t wait t get started,” she says.
