After prmising t take n all the financial risk, he finally persuaded Rach t change his mind and called the team “Rens”.
Hwever their ballrm had fewer seats and attracted fewer peple than thers, s Duglas had t pack the huse t generate prfits and keep his team alive. They traveled the cuntry playing any ppnent that wuld agree t schedule them, during which they repeatedly faced discriminatin and unfair treatment and the players were ften banned frm htels and restaurants.
N matter the bstacle, the Rens just kept strict practicing. Recently, Ggle researchers published a paper describing results frm an artificial intelligence(AI) tl, called MusicLM, built t create music. It is nt the first AI music tl t launch. But the examples Ggle prvides demnstrate musical creative ability based n a limited set f descriptive wrds. AI shws hw cmplex cmputer systems have been trained t behave in human-like ways. Ggle engineers explain the MusicLM system this way.
First, a user cmes up with a wrd r wrds that describe the kind f music they want the tl t create. Fr example, a user culd enter this shrt phrase int the system: “a cntinuus calming vilin backed by a sft guitar sund.”The descriptins entered can include different music styles, instruments r ther existing sunds. Several different music examples prduced by MusicLM were published nline. Sme f the generated music came frm just ne-r-tw-wrd descriptins, such as “jazz”, r “techn”. The system created ther examples frm mre detailed descriptins cntaining whle sentences. In the resulting recrding, the music seems t keep very clse t the descriptin. The team said that the mre detailed the descriptin is, the better the system can attempt t prduce it.
In additin t generating new music frm written descriptins, the team said the system can als create examples based n a persn’s wn singing, whistling r playing an instrument. The researchers said the tl “prduces high-quality several minutes, while being faithful t the text cnditining signal”.
Althugh MusicLM hasn’t been released fr public use, Ggle annunced it was releasing a “high-quality dataset” f mre than 5,500 music-writing pairs prepared by prfessinal musicians called MusicCaps. The researchers tk that step t assist in the develpment f ther AI music generatrs.
The MusicLM researchers said they believe they have designed a new tl t help anyne quickly and easily create high-quality music selectins. Hwever, the team said it als recgnizes sme risks linked t the machine learning prcess.

    B. A pian piece t uplift ne’s spirits.
    C. Eastern music.
    D. A mixed sund f guitar and vilin.

    B. T display the capabilitiesf MusicLM.
    C. T help develp ther AI music generatrs.
    D. T prmte the MusicCaps music-writing service.
    10. What will be prbably talked abut fllwing the last paragraph?
    A. Prblems abut the new tl.
    B. Advantages f using MusicLM.
    C. Backgrund f the research team.

In habitats acrss the planet, animals peridically drp everything t walk, fly r swim t a new place. Wildlife such as whales and geese learn migratin paths by fllwing their parents. Others, including small sngbirds, gain the distance and directin f their migratin within their genetic cde. And sme animals use a cmbinatin f genetics and culture t guide their migratin.
Anther grup f migratrs des nt quite fit either mdel, and researchers have nly recently started t figure ut hw they find their way. Take the Cry’s shearwater, an ceanging sea bird that migrates ver the Atlantic every year. The yung d nt migrate with their parents, s culture cannt explain their jurneys. And the exact paths vary wildly frm individual t individual, making genetics equally unlikely.
Cry’s shearwaters are lng-lived, rarely prducing yung successfully befre age nine. This leaves an pening fr learning and practice t develp their migratin patterns. Researchers call this the “explratin-refinement”, and until nw it has been hypthetical(假设的)because f difficulties in tracking migratry animals’ mvements.
But a team f researchers has dne that by attaching small gelcatrs t mre than 150 f the birds aged fur t nine. They fund that yunger birds traveled lnger distances, fr lnger perids, and had mre diverse paths than lder birds.“We finally have evidence f the ‘explratin-refinement’ fr migratry birds,” says Letizia Campini, wh led the study. Yunger Cry’s shearwaters are able t fly just as fast as, the adults — but they d nt, suggesting that the yung d mre explring, which gradually fades as they mature and settle int a preferred curse.
Althugh it may seem less efficient than ther strategies, “explratin-refinement culd be beneficial t birds and ther rganisms in a rapidly changing wrld due t unpredictable man-made changes,” says Barbara Frei. “It might be safer t repeat a behavir that was recently successful than t rely n patterns that were perfected lng ag but might n lnger be safe.”
    12. Why des the authr mentin different migratin mdels in Paragraph 1?
    A. T ffer an example.
    B. T lead int the tpic.
    C. T make a cmparisn.
    D. T supprt an idea.
    13. What des the underlined wrd “this” in paragraph 3 refer t?

    B. The unique living habit f Cry’s shearwaters.
    C. The pening fr learning and practice.
    D. The prcess scientists track Cry’s shearwaters’ mvements.
    14. What des Letizia’s study find abut the yunger Cry’s shearwaters?
    A. They travel as much as adult birds.
    B. They mve in a predictable manner.
    C. They lwer the speed fr explratin.
    D. They lk fr a curse with their parents.
    15. What can be the best title fr the text?
    A. Explratin-Refinement: Migratin Mdel With Better Adaptability
    B. Migratin Mdels: Imprtant Ways t Deal With Changes
    C. A Cmbinatin f Strategies: A Wise Chice fr Migratin
    D. Fixed Tracks: Safer Migratin Mdels
