Astrnaut Neill Armstrng, the first man n the mn, passed away at 82. He cmmanded the Apll 11spacecraft that landed n the mn n July 20, 1969, and has been best remembered by saying “That’s ne small step fr man, ne giant leap fr mankind”.
Armstrng was brn Aug 5, 1930, n a farm in western Ohi. He tk his first airplane ride at the age f 6 and develped an interest in aviatin (航空) that pushed him t build mdel airplanes and cnduct experiments in a hmemade wind tunnel. As a by, he tk flying lessns and was licensed t fly at 16, befre he gt his driver’s license.
Armstrng enrlled in Purdue University t study aircraft engineering but was called t wrk with the US Navy in 1949 and flew 78 fight tasks. Armstrng was accepted int NASA’s astrnaut class in 1962. He was a supprt cmmander fr the Apll 8 task in 1968. In that flight, Cmmander Frank Brman, Jim Lvell and BiIIAnders circled the mn 10 times, and gt ready fr the mn landing seven mnths later.
On July 20, 1969, an estimated 600 millin peple—a fifth f the wrld’s ppulatin watched and listened t the landing, the largest audience fr any single event in histry.

This year, a dance drama titled Petic Dance: The Jurney f a Legendary Landscape Painting (《只此青绿》) was staged n CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala and became a hit.
