T explre thse remains, the UCSD team wiped the surface f each vlunteer's phne with a cttn swab(药棉签). The scientists als swabbed each persn's right hand.
Then the researchers cmpared the chemicals fund n each cell phne. The scientists discvered as many f the mlecules as they culd. They then cmpared these t a database f chemicals. Pieter Drrestein. a UCSD pharmaceutical chemist, had helped set up that database a few years earlier, which cntains varius substances, including spices, caffeine and medicines.
Traces f anywhere frm hundreds t thusands f different mlecules turned up n each phne. The mlecules reflected what had been in the bdy, and what each persn had handled befre tuching the phne. Frm all these mlecules, Buslimani says, "We culd tell if a persn is likely female, uses high-end csmetics(化妆品), dyes her hair, drinks cffee, prefers beer ver wine r likes spicy fd."
Plice already use mlecular analyses t lk fr traces f explsives r illegal drugs. T date, Drrestein says he's never heard f plice using phne remains t narrw dwn behaviral clues t search fr a suspect. Is bredm a thing f the past, like black-and-white televisin? And, if s, is that a gd thing? Julie Rbinsn, a frmer teacher wh nw represents the Independent Assciatin f Prep Schls, thinks that bredm is regarded as an enemy f tday's children, and they are lsing the ability t becme thughtful and reflective(沉思的).
"We shuld nt fear bredm." said Julie Rbinsn. "Bredm is valuable t children. Quiet, reflective time is just as imprtant as purpseful activity, " she added.
Her pinin is that cnstant(连续不断的)activity fr a child, ften the result f the dreams f parents, will lead t cncerned and wrrying adult. The traditinal ideas that children shuld be cnstantly active culd prevent the develpment f their imaginatin. S anything that imprves a greater thughtfulness is t be warmly welcmed.
Parents nw feel a sense f failure when they hear their children cmplain abut being bred. They seek an electrnic devices(设备)t play games at nce. And we didn't feel bred during lng car jurneys anymre by the impatient "Are we there yet?" because all kinds f electrnic devices have been taken alng t avid even a minute f bredm. S what chance d children have t allw their thughts t wander?
But it's nt just children wh need lessns in reflectin. Adults need that, t. On my train jurney t wrk this mrning, I culdn't see a single persn wh wasn't using an electrnic device. N ne was simply lking ut f the windw at the beautiful views f the cunty side. Nt time fr quiet thinking, even in the quiet library. There were emails t send, texts t read, and games t play. The wider wrld, seemingly, didn't exist. The mbile phne has changed many things abut ur lives, and has develped an inability—amng adults as well as children—t live in the present. What Julie Rbinsn regards is a crss-generatinal phenmenn: the fear f "inactivity". And she is right.
    28. Julie Rbinsn thinks bredm is useful because it makes children____________.
    A. find effective slutins t scial prblems
    B. imprve the ability t learn knwledge
    C. have time t think and have their imaginatin develped
    D. cmmunicate mre with their parents and friends
    29. Which f the fllwing is seen as "inactivity" accrding t the last paragraph?

This year, peple arund the wrld are lining up t buy electric vehicles even as prices increase. Electric vehicle, EV, demand has stayed strng even as the average cst f lithiumin(锂离子)battery cells increased t an estimated $160 per kilwatt-hur in the first quarter frm $105 last year. Csts rse due t supply issues, restrictins n Russian metals and investr speculatin(投机).
Fr a smaller vehicle like the Hngguang Mini, the best-selling EV in China, the higher battery csts added almst $1, 500, equal t 30 percent f the listed price. But gasline and diesel fuel csts have als increased since the cnflict between Russia and Ukraine, and experts nted that envirnmental cncerns are als pushing mre buyers t chse EVs.
Manufacturers frm Tesla t SAIC-GM-Wuling, which makes the Hngguang Mini, have passed higher csts n t cnsumers with price increases fr EVs. Mre may be cming. This increase in battery csts culd be an unusual shrt-term change in a situatin in which imprving technlgy and grwing prductin have pushed csts dwn fr almst 30 years. Industry data shwed that the $105 per kilwatt hur average cst in 2021 was dwn nearly 99 percent frm ver $7,500 in 1991.
Experts say battery csts culd stay high fr the next year r s, but then anther large drp is likely as big investments by autmakers and suppliers change the balance frm shrtage t surplus(过剩). "It's like a bubble and fr that bubble t settle dwn, it's ging t be at least the end f 2024," said Prabhakar Patil, a frmer LG Chem executive.
The industry has lng been awaiting the battery cell cst f $100 per kilwatt-hur, as a signal EVs were reaching a similar cst t fssil-fuel vehicles. But with gasline prices high and cnsumer preferences changing, such cst cnsideratins may n lnger matter as much, experts say.
    32. Why des the authr mentin Hngguang Mini?
    A. T present a fact. C. T intrduce a tpic.
    B. T give an example. D. T make an assumptin.
    33. What will pssibly lead t the drp in battery csts in the future?
    A. Mre EV shps. B. Prductin grwth.
    C. Enugh supplies. D. Technlgy imprvement.
    34. What des the authr think f the future f EVs?
    A. Prmising. B. Unclear. C. Dubtful. D. Cnfusing.
    35. What can be inferred frm the text?
    A. At present demands fr EVs beat supplies. B. Peple prefer EVs mainly because f cst.
    C. EVs sell much better than fssil-fuel vehicles. D. Peple cncern price mre when buying cars.
