Over 40 students with lw visin study at a schl in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It was designed by Anand Snecha, funder f an architecture cmpany.
Featuring a bright yellw entrance dr, which stands ut against the white walls, the schl is decrated with a variety f sweet-smelling plants
everywhere. Inside the classrms, the walls feel smth in cntrast t the rugh utside f the building. These all help students familiarize themselves
with the area straightfrwardly, withut any truble.
The schl prvides an pen space serving as a platfrm fr the visually-challenged students t play, perfrm, r celebrate festivals and the students
are easy t rient themselves accrding t the sund, smell, sight and tuch. “The idea behind the design was t make the schl mre accessible t
the students,” Snecha says, “They cme frm remte villages and twns in Gujarat, and I am eager t help them.”
During the cnstructin, Snecha used cntrasting clrs s that students culd easily distinguish between the elements. Blue was used fr all
classrm drs, yellw fr the entrance gate, black fr switch buttns, and yellw and green fr the furniture. All these clrs cntrasted with the white
walls f the schl, helping the students lcate different elements. Different areas are f different height and width, which makes the sunds and nises
change accrding t the ech (回音) prduced in these spaces. Furthermre, he cperated with fellw landscape architect Lkendra Balasaria t plant
mre than 1, 000 plants f 37 species. These sweet plants have been grwn nt nly t lead the children t mve in the schl thrugh smell but als t
attract butterflies and birds, and prvide shade.
“The structure f the building is designed similarly t any ther schl building, nly with a few clever elements. My intentin was t avid making
it lk distinct frm ther schls,” Snecha explains, “I hpe that there are n different schls fr such students. Instead, all these elements shuld
be added t public spaces fr them. And my fllw-up effrts may be there.”

When we recall a memry, we bring back specific details abut it. But we ften als experience a vivid feeling f remembering the event. Memry
researchers call these prcesses bjective and subjective memry. A new study shws they can functin independently and invlve different parts f the
brain.
“The study distinguishes between hw well we remember and hw well we think we remember, and shws that decisin making depends primarily
n the subjective evaluatin f memry evidence,” says psychlgist Denis Guetta.
The researchers tested bjective and subjective memry. After shwing vlunteers a series f images f cmmn bjects, the researchers shwed
them pairs f images and asked them t determine which f the tw they had seen befre. They were asked t rate the memry as “recllected” (vivid
and detailed), r “familiar” (lacking detail). Sme tests shwed similar image pairs, thers unrelated pairs. This setup measured bjective memry
based n recgnitin and subjective memry based n vividness.
The researchers als used fMRI (功能性磁共振成像) t measure brain activity during this task. The results shwed higher levels f bjective memry
with pairs f similar images, but participants claimed vivid memries mre with dissimilar pairs. They were mre likely t base their decisin abut
whether t keep r clear an image n memry feeling rather than accuracy. Fr example, a persn culd have a vivid memry f ging t an event with
friends. Sme f the actual details f that memry might be a bit ff, but they may feel it is a vivid memry, s they might decide t g ut with the
same peple again.
The fMRI data shwed that bjective and subjective memry engaged varied regins f the brain. The regins invlved in subjective experiences
were als invlved in decisin making, supprting the cnnectin between the tw prcesses.
“By understanding hw ur brains give rise t vivid subjective memries and memry decisins, we are mving a step clser t understanding hw
we learn t evaluate memry evidence t make effective decisins in the future,” says researcher Analiz William.
【小题1】Hw des the authr intrduce the tpic f the text?
A.By analyzing prblems.

【小题2】What were the vlunteers asked t d during the study?
A.T draw the images they had previusly seen.
B.T cmpare details f bjects they had been shwn.
C.T categrize their memry as recllected r familiar.
D.T recall specific emtins related t the images shwn.
【小题3】What des the research find ut abut decisin making?
A.Bth types f memry have great influence n it.
B.Our vivid memry helps us make wise decisins.
C.It mainly relies n subjective memry evaluatin.
D.It’s decided by the accuracy f bjective memry.
【小题4】What is Analiz William’s attitude twards the study?

Many flwering plants can self-pllinate (自花传粉), r transfer pllen between their wn blssms fr seed generatin and reprductin, but mst
f these plants have relied n pllinatrs such as butterflies and bees t reprduce. Nw — during declines reprted in many pllinatr ppulatins — a
new study n the evlutin f ne flwer species’ mating system has revealed a remarkable change that culd wrsen the challenges faced by the
plants’ insect partners.
The flwers reprductive evlutin may be linked t envirnmental changes such as habitat destructin and rapid nging decreases in pllinatr
bidiversity, accrding t Samsn Acca-Pidlle, wh led the study published December 19 in the jurnal New Phytlgist.
Cmparing seeds f wild field pansies (三色堇) cllected decades ag in France with the plants’ mdern descendants. Acca-Pidlle and his
clleagues discvered that tday’s flwers are smaller and prduce less nectar (花蜜) as a result f increased self-pllinatin, which has direct impacts
n pllinatr behavir. The pansies f the past self-fertilized less and attracted far mre pllinatrs than thse f the present, accrding t the study.
“It seems that it’s nly traits (特性) that are invlved in plant-pllinatr interactin that are evlving, ” said Acca-Pidlle. The changes culd
restrict the plants’ ability t adapt t future envirnmental changes and have implicatins fr “all f flral bidiversity” — ptentially decreasing
flwering plants’ genetic, species and ecsystem variatin.
“This may increase the pllinatr decline and cause a negative feedback cycle,” study cauthr Pierre-Olivier Cheptu tld CNN.” If plants
prduce less nectar, there will be less fd available t pllinatrs, which will in turn accelerate the rate at which the animals’ numbers decrease“, he
explained.
“The majr message is that we are currently seeing the evlutinary breakdwn f plant pllinatrs in the wild,” said Cheptu, an evlutinary
eclgist at the French Natinal Centre fr Scientific Research and prfessr at the University f Mntpellier.
【小题1】Which f the fllwing may cntribute t the flwers’ reprductive evlutin?
A.Changed behaviur f pllinatrs.
B.Severe pllutin t the habitats.
C.Cntinuing decline in pllinatr bidiversity.
【小题2】Why were pansies in the past larger and prduced mre nectar?
A.They self-pllinated less.
D.Increased plant-pllinatr interactin.
B.They had a better mating system.
D.They were fertilized by themselves.
C.They attracted less pllinatrs.
【小题3】What is the result f the changes in the flwers’ reprductive evlutin?
A.The flwering plants may have mre variatins.
B.The evlutin f wild plant pllinatrs is cllapsing.
C.The numbers f the animals will increase mre rapidly.
D.The plants will adapt t the envirnmental changes better.
【小题4】Which is the best title fr the text?
A.Pllinatr Ppulatins: Declining.
B.Flwering Plants: Selfing.
D.Flral Diversity: Increasing.
C.Interdependent Relatinship: Maintaining.
