Members f China’s 40th Antarctic scientific team set ff n Nvember 1, 2023. The team is expected t arrive arund December. They plan t finish the task in fur mnths and return in April, 2024. Members f China’s 40th Antarctic scientific team set ff n Nvember 1, 2023. The team is expected t arrive arund December. They plan t finish the task in fur mnths and return in April, 2024. This is the first time the cuntry’s Antarctic research task will be carried ut by three ships. While tw icebreakers with mre than 460 researchers started frm Shanghai, the ther ship with materials fr the new research statin left frm Zhangjiang.
The team’s key task is building a new research statin within 60 days in Antarctica. The new statin will be built near the Rss Sea in the east Antarctic. It will be China’s fifth Antarctic research statin, fllwing the Great Wall set up in 1985, Zhngshan in 1989, Kunlun in 2009 and Taishan in 2014.
