It was nt just that it was the end f a wnderful hliday; it was nt just that he invariably suffered badly frm jet lag(时差); it was that Mnday mrning always began with a team meeting and , ver the mnths, he had grwn t hate them.
Martin was aware that clleagues apprached these meetings with hidden agenda (会议议程); they indulged in (沉溺于) game playing ; and he knew that peple were nt being hnest and pen. The meetings themselves were bad enugh---there was all the maning afterwards at the meeting like “I culd have imprved n that idea, but I wasn’t ging t say.”

What surprised him, even mre than the acquisitin f this strange pwer, was that he discvered that what peple were saying was nt really what they were thinking. They were nt making clear their reservatins. They were nt supprting views which they thught might be ppular. They were nt cntributing their new insights. They were nt vlunteering their new ideas.
Martin fund it impssible nt t respnd t his new knwledge. S he started t make gentle interventins (干涉), based mre n what he culd hear his clleagues thinking than n what he culd hear them saying. “S, Jhn, are yu really ” “Susan, d yu really think that?” “Tm, have yu gt an idea n hw we culd take this frward?” They lked at him, puzzled. In truth, he felt rather prud f his newly acquired talent.
As the meeting prgressed, it was clear t him that each member f the meeting was learning hw t hear the thughts f the thers. The game playing started t fall away; peple started t speak mre directly; views became better understd; the atmsphere became mre pen and trusting.

Yu have prbably read abut rbts replacing human labr as a new era f autmatin takes rt in ne industry after anther. But a reprt suggests humans are nt the nly nes wh might lse their jbs.
In New Zealand, farmers are using drnes (无人机) t herd and mnitr livestck, taking up a psitin that highly intelligent dgs have held fr mre than a century. The rbts have nt replaced the dgs entirely, Radi New Zealand reprts, but they have apprpriated (盗用) ne f the animal's mst ptent tls : barking.
The DJ-Innvatins (DJI) Mavic Enterprise, a $3,500 drne favred by farmers, has a feature that lets the machine recrd sunds and play them ver a ludspeaker, giving the machine the ability t act as the dgs. Crey Lambeth, a shepherd at a farm with sheep and cws, tld RNZ the machines are surprisingly effective. “That’s the ne thing I’ve nticed when yu’re mving cws and calves—that the ld cws stand up t the dgs, but with the drnes, they’ve never dne that,” he said, nting that it means the drnes mve livestck faster, with less stress, than the dgs d.
Farmers tld RNZ the drnes cme in handy fr mre than just herding cws and sheep. The rbts allw farmers t mnitr their land frm afar(在远方), tracking water and feed levels and checking n livestck health withut disturbing the animals.
Jasn Rentul tld RNZ last spring that a tw-hur herding jb that used t require tw peple and tw teams f dgs culd be accmplished in 45 minutes using a single drne. “Being a hilly farm where a lt f stuff is dne n ft, the drnes really saved a lt f man-hurs,” he said. “The drne des the higher bits that yu can’t see frm the grund, and yu wuld have t walk half an hur t g and have a lk and then g, ‘Oh, there was n sheep there.’”
Farmers arund the wrld are using drnes. In Suth Africa, they mnitr crp health frm abve, which bsts harvests, accrding t CN. In Califrnia, winemakers use drnes equipped with sensrs t grw healthier grapes, accrding t MIT Technlgy Review. Because drnes fly clser t the grund, they are able t prvide high-reslutin images that are less expensive than hiring smene t fly an aircraft ver a field, the publicatin reprted.
In New Zealand, farmers say sme dgs are learning t wrk alngside drnes, identifying the machines as mre c-wrker than fe(敌人). “A gd herding dg, he's already figured ut if the drnes are wrking n that side. I’ll g ver here (t the ther side) and wrk ver here,”Rentul said. “Fr nw,” farmers say, “there is still a need fr herding dgs, primarily because they have a lnger life span than drnes, can wrk in bad weather and d nt require an electrical scket every few hurs t recharge”.
“There’s definitely ging t be places fr dgs always n farm,” Lambeth said. “The ne dwn side f the Mavic drnes r anything electrnic is that yu still need t bring them in and charge them.”
61. Accrding t the passage, the drnes can’ t replace the dgs entirely because ________.
A. the drnes can’t bark as ludly as the dgs d.
B. the drnes’ pwer and wrking cnditins are limited.

D. The cst f using drnes t mnitr grapes is half the cst f hiring smene.

There's a lt being said ut there abut the state f wmen in this cuntry. The gender gap still exists when it cmes t salary, cnfidence, happiness, and the number f wmen in the C-suite(企业高管) and science. Wmen aren't as happy as they were in the 1970s, and their happiness relative t that f men has taken a nsedive(暴跌).
But it's nt all dm and glm(无望). A recent study shws there's ne career path in which wmen's happiness is greater than men's: entrepreneurship. One ut f every 10 wmen in the U.S. tday is starting r running her wn business. Mre than a third f thse wmen want t expand their business beynd five emplyees. Wmen with established businesses ranked their happiness nearly three times as high as wmen wh are nt entrepreneurs.
Wmen are mst likely t run r start a business between the ages f 35 and 44 — a perid in which mms are mre likely t be taking care f yung kids at hme. The flexibility f entrepreneurship may very well attract such wmen during this busy time in their lives. “Our researchfund that the benefits f entrepreneurship are beynd ecnmic and scial value,”prfessr Dnna Kelley and the lead authrf the reprt said. “Clearly, entrepreneurship prvides wmen with a mst satisfying career chice.”
The happiness desn't translate fr wmen just getting started with their business, wh reprt lwer levels f happiness than wmen wrking fr an emplyer, thugh still slightly higher levels than men in the same psitin as them. The reasn fr this may very well be the gender cnfidence gap. As wmen's businesses mature and becme mre successful, their levels f happiness surge. “Cnfidence is a belief in ne's ability t succeed, a belief that stimulates actin. In turn, taking actin imprves ne's belief in ne's ability t succeed.”they write.
And the links between cnfidence and happiness are plentiful. The happiness-success link exists nt nly because success makes peple happy, but als because psitive emtin creates success. Fr wmen, entrepreneurial success may be the key t a happy career. And as mre wmen start and run their wn businesses, the wrld may just be a happier place.
66. It can be knwn that wmen's happiness levels________.
A. are the same as thse f five decades ag.
B. are much lwer than thse f five decades ag.
C. are much higher than thse f five years ag.
D. are a little lwer than thse f five years ag.
67. Wh are much happier accrding t the text?
A. Male bsses. B. Jbless females. C. Female bsses. D. Male emplyees.
68. What is Dnna Kelley's attitude t wman entrepreneurship?
A. Optimistic. B. Dubtful. C. Objective. D. Negative.
69.What des the underlined wrd “surge” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A. Increase. B. Disappear. C. Decrease. D. Remain.
70. What des the last paragraph mainly tell us?
A. There are secrets t female entrepreneurial success.

C. Mre wmen will start t run their wn business in the future.
