As is knwn, China is the dumpling capital f the wrld. Jiazi is a Chinese dumpling.It typically cnsists f a grund meat and vegetable filling wrapped int a thinly rlled piece f dugh. It may be divided int varius types depending n hw they are cked..
Miyazawa, a Japanese ck, says,“Japanese dumplings came frm China at the beginning, but Chinese dumplings are mstly biled. Hwever, gyza, a pan-fried meat dumpling, is mre cmmn in Japan. It is in a half-mn shape. Its bttm is crispy while the tp is sfter, thanks t hw it is steamed after being pan-fried.”
In my hmetwn, lcal peple tend t call ravili the Italian dumpling n accunt f its similar shape. Hwever, they are actually a kind f pasta. Althugh they are fd in the frm f "dumplings", there are big differences in their fillings, cking methds and sauces that will g with them. Fr instance, ravili are in square shape and the fillings can be cheese besides meat and vegetables.
