根据首段最后两句“We have the newest, coolest and fastest supercars, hypercars and EVs hitting our roads. Start your engines!
根据标题Lamborghini (兰博基尼)下面的第三点“The supercapacitor is a unique feature. In the past, electric cars have been criticized because their batteries emit chemicals that cause harm to the environment when they’re disposed of. A supercapacitor stores static electricity plates instead of using metal chemicals. There is no need to charge the Sian’s supercapacitor because using the brakes does that job automatically.
根据倒数第二段末句“He sold the remains of his company to Toyota and used the money to found his Honda Technical Research Institute in October 1946. (1946年10月,他将公司的剩余部分卖给了丰田,并用这笔钱成立了自己的本田技术研究所)”以及末段前两句“Honda is involved in the manufacturing of other products such as aircraft, mountain bikes, lawn equipment and robots. It is also one of the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturers.
    B
For years, David James, who studies insects at Washington State University, had wanted to examine the migration (迁徙)patterns of West Coast monarch butterflies (黑脉金斑蝶). The route the butterflies travel has been hardly known because the populations are too small to follow. For every 200 monarchs tagged (打标签)by a researcher, only one is usually recovered at the end of its trip, James says, and finding even 200 in the wild to tag is unlikely. Knowing the route is vital to conservation efforts, but James had no way to figure it out- until he got a phone call from Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla.
The prison was looking for new activities to improve the mental health of those serving long-term sentences. So James began working with prisoners to raise monarchs through the whole process of their transformation. The adult insects were then tagged and released from the prison. Over five years, nearly 10, 000 monarchs flew from the facility. Elsewhere in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, researchers released another few thousand.
The tags included email addresses, and soon after the first butterflies took off, James started receiving messages from people who had spotted them. The butterflies, the reports confirmed, wintered in coastal California. Twelve of them landed at Lighthouse Field State Beach in Santa Cruz. Several more headed to Bolinas and Morro Bay.
The work helps researchers identify ideal places to plant milkweed and other vegetation that are important to the life cycle of West Coast monarch butterflies. It also brought out the gentler side of some of the prisoners. “They were very worried that they were going to harm the butterflies, ”James says. Watching the monarch change their form also touched the men. “This butterfly changed, ” James recalls prisoners telling him, “and maybe we can too. ”
    4. What was hard for David to do in his study?
    A. Gain financial support. B. Hire qualified workers.
    C. Build a new laboratory. D. Find enough monarchs.
    5. Why are the butterflies tagged before being released?
    A. To guarantee their safety.
    B. To enable them to fly longer distances.
    C. To track their travel routes.
    D. To distinguish them from other species.
    6. What makes the prisoners feel that they can change?
    A. The patience the butterflies showed.
    B. The hardship the butterflies underwent.
    C. The transformation of the butterflies.
    D. The devotion of James to the butterflies.
    7. What is the last paragraph mainly about?
    A. The impact of the research.
    B. The findings of James’ study.
    C. The release of the prisoners.
    D. The life cycle of the butterflies.
D 5. C 6. C 7. A
根据第一段的“The route the butterflies travel has been hardly known because the populations are too small to follow. For every 200 monarchs tagged (打标签)by a researcher, only one is usually recovered at the end of its trip, James says, and finding even 200 in the wild to tag is unlikely.( 蝴蝶的飞行路线几乎不为人知,因为它们的数量太少,无法跟随。
根据倒数第二段“The tags included email addresses, and soon after the first butterflies took off, James started receiving messages from people who had spotted them. The butterflies, the reports confirmed, wintered in coastal California. Twelve of them landed at Lighthouse Field State Beach in Santa Cruz. Several more headed to Bolinas and Morro Bay.
根据最后一段的“It also brought out the gentler side of some of the prisoners. ‘They were very worried that they were going to harm the butterflies,’James says. Watching the monarch change their form also touched the men.‘This butterfly changed,’James recalls prisoners telling him, ‘and maybe we can too.’(它也带来了一些囚犯的温和的一面。
根据最后一段的“The work helps researchers identify ideal places to plant milkweed and other vegetation that are important to the life cycle of West Coast monarch butterflies. It also brought out the gentler side of some of the prisoners.( 这项工作帮助研究人员确定理想了的种植马利筋和其他植被的地方,这些植被对西海岸黑脉金斑蝶蝶的生命周期很重要。 故选A。
    C
On the day he almost died, Kimbal Musk had food on the brain. The Internet startup talent and restaurateur had just arrived in Jackson Hole from a conference where chef Jamie Oliver had spoken about the benefits of healthy eating. This made Musk think a lot—how he might make a difference to the food industry—but beyond expanding his farm-to-table movement along with his restaurant, Musk hadn’t yet broken the code. Then he went sailing down a snowy slope (坡) and fell over, breaking his neck.
Musk eventually made a full recovery, but it involved spending two months on his back, which gave him plenty of time to come up with a plan. Since then, he has launched an initiative to put “learning gardens” in public schools across America; attracted Generation Z to the farming profession by changing shipping containers into high-tech, data-driven, year-round farms; and this year, is kicking off a new campaign to create one million at-home gardens.
Aimed at reaching low-income families, the Million Gardens Movement was inspired by the pandemic, as both a desire to feel more connected to nature and food insecurity have been at the forefront of so many people’s lives. “We were getting a lot of inquiries about gardening from people that had never gardened before,” says Musk. “People were looking to garden for a bunch of reasons: to save money on groceries, to improve the nutritional quality of their diets, or just to cure the boredom that came with the lockdown.”
The program offers free garden kits that can be grown indoors or outdoors, and will be distributed through schools that Musk’s non-profit, Big Green, has already partnered with. It also offers free courses on how to get the garden growing and fresh seeds and materials for the changing growing seasons. “It’s not difficult. Anyone can do this, no matter where you come from, no matter where you live. We are all able to grow something,” says Musk.
    8. What inspired Musk to make a difference to food industry?
    A. The pandemic. B. A skiing accident.
    C. Jamie Oliver’s speech. D. The farm-to-table movement.
    9. What is a cause of people beginning gardening according to Musk?
    A. To get access to healthy food.
    B. To make their house beautiful.
    C. To make money by selling garden produce.
    D. To build up their strength during the pandemic.
    10. What does the Million Gardens Movement focus on?
    A. Encouraging people to preserve nature.
B Providing free food for low-income families.
    C. Promoting “learning gardens” across schools.
    D. Educating new gardeners to grow their own food.
    11. Which of the following best describes Musk?
    A. Charity-minded. B. Stubborn. C. Easy-going. D. Scholarly.
C 9. A 10. D 11. A
根据文章第一段“The Internet startup talent and restaurateur had just arrived in Jackson Hole from a conference where chef Jamie Oliver had spoken about the benefits of healthy eating. This made Musk think a lot—how he might make a difference to the food industry(这位互联网创业天才和餐馆老板刚刚参加完Jackson Hole的一个会议抵达Jackson Hole,会上主厨Jamie Oliver谈到了健康饮食的好处。
根据文章第三段“People were looking to garden for a bunch of reasons: to save money on groceries, to improve the nutritional quality of their diets, or just to cure the boredom that came with the lockdown.(“人们之所以注意种植花园,原因有很多: 为了在杂货上省钱,为了改善饮食的营养质量,或者仅仅是为了消除封锁带来的无聊感。”)” A“To get access to healthy food(为了获得健康的食物)符合题意;其余三个选项文章并未提及;故选A项。
根据文章第三段“Aimed at reaching low-income families, the Million Gardens Movement was inspired by the pandemic, as both a desire to feel more connected to nature and food insecurity have been at the forefront of so many people’s lives.(旨在惠及低收入家庭的百万花园运动受到流行病的启发,因为渴望与自然建立更多联系的愿望和粮食的不安全一直处于许多人生活的最前沿。)”可知渴望与自然的联系和粮食安全问题是人们咨询百万花园运动的主要原因;根据文章最后一段“It also offers free courses on how to get the garden growing and fresh seeds and materials for the changing growing seasons. “It’s not difficult. Anyone can do this, no matter where you come from, no matter where you live. We are all able to grow something,” says Musk.(它还提供免费课程,介绍如何让花园生长以及在不断变化的生长季节提供新鲜种子和材料。
由文章第三段“Aimed at reaching low-income families(旨在惠及低收入家庭)”可知Musk创立百万花园运动主要针对低收入家庭;由文章最后一段“The program offers free garden kits that can be grown indoors or outdoors(该计划提供可以在室内或室外种植的免费花园套件)”可知他免费给人们提供种植套件;“It also offers free courses(它还提供免费课程)”可知Musk的计划还给人提供免费课程;综上所述,可推知Musk是富有慈善意识的;故选A项。
    D
Traditionally, profiting from forests often meant capitalizing on timber (木材)-choosing commercial timber. Yet increasingly, there is an understanding that it’s of greater significance to keep trees standing than cut them down for financial profit. Money is not everything. We have to recognize real and lasting value is from natural resources. But money is a fact of life.
Good news is that we can expect entire natural woodland is left undamaged and still provides a revenue (收益) stream. Leaving woodland complete does not necessarily mean that we do not touch it at all. Conservation work may involve building back biodiversity or the removal of foreign plant species.
A healthy woodland system can provide a range of yields (产物). Besides eatable yields-top fruit, berries, and food crops, it produces substances for chemical use. The non-timber forest products provided by natural ecosystems will vary significantly depending on where they are. But there’re almost always ways to explore to acquire revenue.
A project in the U. K. shows woodland is also a draw for visitors. It engages a community who creates a sustainable area of woodland. The sale of handmade wooden items and non-timber forest products is involved. But the community largely obtains revenue by opening up parts of the natural woodland to the public with an adventure playground and outdoor recreational activities on the site. It also offers courses on nest building, special wildlife events and more. The project is thought to have great uniqueness. In terms of revenue, it centers round the existing natural land; the yields woodland can provide become side products.
Recreational activities, tours, and classes are just the commencement. A rich and biodiverse woodland can be an ecosystem that draws in people looking for a beautiful place to stay. Woodland has great value in ecological and social terms. And when you nurse it, it could also add to the income from your land.
    12. What do people increasingly think about forest conservation?
    A. It is difficult to carry out.
    B. It means making full use of timber.
    C. It outweighs financial development.
    D. It should centre on building back biodiversity.
    13. Why is the project considered unique?
    A. It makes woodland itself the main product.
    B. It focuses on protecting natural land.
    C. It aims to promote ecotourism.
    D. It provides educational experiences.
    14. What does the underlined word “commencement” mean in the last paragraph?
    A. Intention.
    B. Wish.
    C. Exception.
    D. Beginning.
    15. Which is a suitable title for the text?
    A. Woodland Brings Profit While Staying Complete
    B. A Project Creates Sustainable Woodland
    C. Forest Conservation Has Been a Top Priority
    D. Non-timber Products Help Gain More Revenue
C 13. A 14. D 15. A
根据第一段第二句“Yet increasingly, there is an understanding that it’s of greater significance to keep trees standing than cut them down for financial profit.
根据第四段最后两句“The project is thought to have great uniqueness. In terms of revenue, it centers round the existing natural land; the yields woodland can provide become side products. 故选A项。
根据最后一段第二句“A rich and biodiverse woodland can be an ecosystem that draws in people looking for a beautiful place to stay.
根据第二段第一句“Good news is that we can expect entire natural woodland is left undamaged and still provides a revenue (收益) stream. 故选A项。
This year, everything is getting more expensive. This is called inflation. The word inflation comes from inflate, which means “to grow big”. For instance, we inflate balloons. ___16___ When everyone suddenly wants the same thing, it becomes scarce and the price goes up because people will pay more to get it. In fact, inflation has been described as “too much money chasing too few goods”.
___17___ During that time, people all over the world spent little money, because they were forced to stay home. Fuel prices dropped because people weren’t really going anywhere. But now that everything is getting back to normal in many countries, people want to go out and meet friends, get their hair properly cut and generally spend money again. So the demand for goods and services is rising rapidly.
In fact, the world has been hit by a number of drastic problems all coming together, ranging from the pandemic to war to climate change. Oil and gas prices dropped during the pandemic, but now have shot up again. ___18___ Extreme weather events all over the world have made things much worse. For example, droughts in China and California threatened hydropower, while heavy rainfall and flooding in South and Southeast Asia disrupted coal mining in countries like India and China. The cost of coffee increased when Brazil—the world’s largest producer—had a poor harvest after severe drought. ___19___
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned that 2023 could be the “darkest hour” for the global economy: “The three largest economies — the United States, China and the Euro area—will continue to stall. The worst is yet to come.” But, to end on a hopeful note, experts say that manufacturing and tourism are gradually rebounding in Malaysia, Thailand and the Pacific island countries. ___20___
    A. The Covid-19 pandemic is the main cause.
    B. Therefore, we should prepare for “the worst”.
    C. So we can hope ”the worst" can be prevented.
    D. In the case of money, inflation means the price of things is rising.
    E. There is also a shortage of materials like plastic, concrete and steel.
    F. All of this hits the poor the hardest, and leads to fewer goods being bought.
    G. The war in Ukraine has affected the supply of gas to Europe, as this mostly comes from Russia.
D 17. A 18. G 19. F 20. C
根据上文“This year, everything is getting more expensive. This is called inflation. The word inflation comes from inflate, which means “to grow big”. For instance, we inflate balloons.(今年,所有东西都越来越贵了。
根据后文“During that time, people all over the world spent little money, because they were forced to stay home. Fuel prices dropped because people weren’t really going anywhere. But now that everything is getting back to normal in many countries, people want to go out and meet friends, get their hair properly cut and generally spend money again. So the demand for goods and services is rising rapidly.(在那段时间里,世界各地的人们几乎不花钱,因为他们被迫呆在家里。
根据上文“In fact, the world has been hit by a number of drastic problems all coming together, ranging from the pandemic to war to climate change. Oil and gas prices dropped during the pandemic, but now have shot up again.(事实上,从大流行到战争再到气候变化,世界受到了一系列严重问题的冲击。
根据上文“For example, droughts in China and California threatened hydropower, while heavy rainfall and flooding in South and Southeast Asia disrupted coal mining in countries like India and China. The cost of coffee increased when Brazil—the world’s largest producer—had a poor harvest after severe drought.(例如,中国和加州的干旱威胁到了水力发电,而南亚和东南亚的强降雨和洪水则扰乱了印度和中国等国的煤矿开采。
根据上文“The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned that 2023 could be the “darkest hour” for the global economy: “The three largest economies — the United States, China and the Euro area—will continue to stall. The worst is yet to come.” But, to end on a hopeful note, experts say that manufacturing and tourism are gradually rebounding in Malaysia, Thailand and the Pacific island countries.(国际货币基金组织(IMF)警告称,2023年可能是全球经济“最黑暗的时刻”:“三大经济体——美国、中国和欧元区——将继续停滞不前。

be eager to do sth.“急切想做某事”。
故将many改为much。
the fun of...“…… 故将to改为of。
故在care前加who/that,或者将care改为caring。
根据前文“I want to go to college because I know that my parents and other people care for me will be happily with that.” 故将you 改为them。
