When you have a different opinions with your friend, what should you do? One of the ways is to talk with your friend and tell him or her how you’re feeling. It’s always important to share your feelings with your friend.
Sometimes friends do drift apart. As we grow older, our interests change and sometimes this means that a friendship may not be as close as it once was. This also means that you, too, may find a different group of friends to spend time with.
Then what should you do to keep friends? One helpful thing is to be sure you let others know you like them. Smile, talk to them, listen with interest and praise them for the things you like about them. People naturally like to make friends with the people who understand and enjoy them.
It’s also important to remember that you should always be yourself. Sometimes when you focus on “keeping friends”, you might begin to do things or act in some ways that aren’t normally part of your personality. Moreover, if your friend is unfriendly to you, that doesn’t mean you should become hurtful to other people. Students learn their lessons in class. In class teachers teach them. Students sit in the classroom listening to the teacher. This is a way of learning. Is this the only way for students to learn something? Of course not. There is another way to learn. That is students can teach themselves. For example, if you can’t remember something when you are doing your homework, you can look at your book to find the answer. This is a way to teach yourself. And it is not a difficult thing. We can do this at any place and at any time.
How do you teach yourself? The first thing you must do is reading. Read something you are interested in, or you have to read. The second is that you must ask yourself questions. The question is something you don’t understand, or you want to know more about. You can write down these questions. A clever student is usually good at asking questions. The third is to answer the question yourself by thinking hard, by reading the text of other books, and sometimes by asking other people. This is the way of teaching yourself. And you must do this all by yourself. If you keep doing like this for a long time, you are sure to succeed in your study.

There is nothing worse than sitting next to someone and being able to smell their breakfast! In ancient China, people used to chew a special plant to make their breath smell better. Now, we use gum (口香糖) to make sure our breath doesn’t bother other people.
In fact, how your breath smells says a lot about your health. According to BBC News, scientists can now tell whether somebody has certain diseases just from a simple breath test. How does it work? Breath is made up of something known as “metabolites (代谢物)”. Metabolites are a kind of waste that the body makes. Scientists from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology found that metabolites are unique (独特的) to each person’s breath. They are just like people’s fingerprints (指纹). That’s why scientists sometimes call them “breath prints (呼吸指纹)”, the Daily Mail reported.
Compared to other kinds of tests, a breath test is much quicker. It only takes a few minutes. Breath tests are also much easier to do. People don’t need a needle (针) or a container (容器) to hold body fluids(体液). They just need to blow into a special machine. This machine will help to test their breath. It has been useful in finding early signs of diseases, such as stomach cancer.
Scientists are doing further research on breath tests. They think that these tests could be used for athletes to see if they are cheating.
69. What does the underlined word “bother” mean?

But one day, when he was eighty years old, a surprising thing happened. Almost everyone heard the news: “The old man is happy today. He doesn’t complain about anything, and he is friendly to everyone.” A lot of villagers went to visit him and asked him the reasons. “Nothing special.” the old man answered, “For eighty years, I’ve been chasing (追求) happiness, but I got nothing.
