表示“在几世纪”时,用“in+the+序数词+century”或”in + the +数字+s/’s
在17世纪 in the 1600’s/1600s
2. Each line has a set number of words.
a set number of 意为“一定数量的”,后跟可数名词的复数形式,作主语时,谓语动词用单数形式。
a huge/large/great number of 均意为“大量的”,其后跟可数名词的复数形式, 作主语时,谓语动词用复数形式。

3.Let’s look at another two poems as examples.
another two poems意为“另外两首诗”,与two more poems同义。
another+数词+名词=数词+more+名词,表示“再几个....”

4. In a word, state the topic of your poem.
state: v.陈述,说明。State your name and address.
拓展:statement n. The government makes a statement.政府发表声明。
5. Express a thought or a feeling about your topic in four words.
express的名词形式是expression,意为“表达,表示”,可以作不可数名词,也可以作可数名词。
eg:many expressions of welcome很多表示欢迎的话
常用短语: express oneself 表达自己的思想; express sth. to sb. 向某人表达某物
1)我不知道我是否把自己的意思讲清楚了。

三、知识点拨:
1.a kind/sort/type of,this kind/sort/type of+可数名词单数/不可数名词,动词用单数形式。
在these kinds of,many/several kinds of 之后的名词, 既可以是单数名词或不可数名词,也可以是复数名词,动词都用复数形式。
2.a number of 意为“许多”。
a set number of 意为“一定数量的”,后跟可数名词的复数形式。
a huge/large/great number of 均意为“大量的”,其后跟可数名词的复数形式。作主语时,谓语动词用复数形式。
A large number of farmers move to the city.大量的农民移居到城市。
3.another two poems意为“另外两首诗”,与two more poems同义。
another+数词+名词=数词+more+名词,表示“再几个……”
4.own意为“自己的,属于自己的”,用在形容词性物主代词后面加强语气。常用结构为“one’s own+名词”,意为“某人自己的……”。
5.state为动词,意为“陈述,说明”。常指书面或演讲中的正式表达,其名词形式为statement,意为“陈述”。
6.express在本句中为及物动词,意为“表达”,后面可直接跟宾语。常用于express sth.to sb.结构,意为“向某人表达某事”,express oneself意为“表达某人自己的思想”。
【拓展】 express的名词形式为expression。
