8.Language points

1. I’m from Beijing.  我来自北京。(我是北京人)

    be from  “来自哪里”、“从哪里来的”或“是哪里人”。

    They are from England. 他们是从英国来的。(他们是英国人)

    如果不强调从哪里来，只是要说明身份，也可以说：

    They’re English. 他们是英国人。

    She is American.她是美国人。

2. I’m from China and I’m Chinese.我来自中国，我是中国人。

来自某个国家时，使用国名。如：China, England等。

如果要强调是某国人时，则要用其形容词形式。如： Chinese, English等。

 be from=come from

eg: Tom is from America.

=Tom comes from America.

汤姆来自美国。

3. Where are you from?

    这是疑问词where引导的特殊疑问句，用来询问“你是哪里人”，常用“I’m from ...”来回答。如：

    —Where are you from?

        你是哪里人？

    —I’m from England.

        我是英国人。

5. I’m twelve years old.  我12岁。

    …years old, 表示“……岁”，有时years old可省略。

Eg：Her dog is three. 她的小狗3岁。

拓展：对该句型提问可用：How old ...?

其答语通常用“主语+ am / is / are+年龄”。

Eg.

— How old are you? — ______________________

  你多大了？         我十三岁。

6. Nice to meet you. 很高兴见到你！

    两位初次见面相识的用语, “见到你很高兴。”见面相识可由自我介绍, 第三者介绍或者询问相识。

    e.g. — Hello! I’m Xiao Ming.

           — Hello! I’m Xiao Wei.

           — Nice to meet you, Xiao Wei.

           — _____________________  

7. What about you? 

    这一句型意为“……怎么样？”，常用于向对方提出建议或请求，或者引出话题。如：

    What about playing ball this afternoon? 今天下午打篮球怎么样?

    What about drinking some tea? 喝茶怎么样?

    I’m from China. What about you? 我是中国人。你呢？

welcome to... 欢迎来到…，这是一句欢迎用语，在英语中使用比较广泛。

如：

陈述句的肯定：

I ’m from Wuhan.

Lingling is thirteen years old.

陈述句的否定：

I’m not from Wuhan.

Lingling isn’t thirteen years old.

在be动词后面直接加not表否定。

一般疑问句：

Are you English?

Yes, I am. /No, I’m not.

特殊疑问句：

---How old are you?

---I’m thirteen years old.

一般疑问句能用Yes/No来回答。

特殊疑问句以疑问词开头，不能用Yes/No来回答。
