This lesson is the first volume of Grade Three and from the Shaanxi’s Tourism Publishing House.
Learning aims
1、 Be able to understand and use the following words: red, orange, yellow , green, blue, purple,white, black, brown .
2、Be able to understand and use the following structure:
-What color is it?
-It is…
3、Identify the differences of Chinese and English and develop the students’ interest in learning English.
Learning points
Key points: Enable students to understand and use the knowledge to express the color of things skillfully.
Difficult points: Be able to pronounce of the following words correctly. green,cyan,purple,brown.
Learning process
Step 1 Warming up
- Sing the song: A Little Hello Song.
- Greeting:
It’s mainly to relax and form a better learning surrounding .
- Review the learnt sentences and lead in the new question: What color is the rainbow?
Step 2 Presentation
- List the topic “What color is it? ”on the blackboard.
Read the word “color” and the sentence.Pay attention to the sound-ling of “is it”.It’s the basic of the abilities of listening and speaking.
- Learn every color of the rainbow with the help of PPT.
1). Compare the pronunciation of egg to read red.
2).Orange and yellow have be learnt ,so we just focus on its usage:The orange(a kind of fruit) is orange(a kind of color).The pear is yellow.
3).The pronunciation of “ee” is the same in the words “green” and “meet”.It can help the students pronounce the word and make them remember the spelling of the words.
4).Blue is different from green.It’s easy for the students to remember.
5).Cyan is between blue and green, but not green or blue. It’s deep blue and light green.
6). Purple is very difficult to read correctly.It will cost much time to speak.
3.Answer the question:What color is the rainbow?
I will attach important to the intonation(rising tone and falling tone) of the words in the sentence.This is meant to cultivate a good habit of speaking.
4.Make a rainbow on the blackboard.
This purpose is to further stimulate the students’ interest in learning and let them enjoy the beauty of the rainbow while have to remember the colors of the rainbow.
5.Learn the other words by the things in the classroom.
What color is the wall? (white)
What color is your hair? (black)
What color is the paper? (brown)
6.Let’s have a rest by watching a piece of funny video.
Step3 Practice
- Work in pairs and then get on the train.
Take out their crayons or other things to work and then present in front.
Eg: --What color is it / your bag / book....?
--It / My bag / book is .....
It’s meant to help the students use the words and structure .Make sure that they can talk about the colors of the things in life skillfully.
- Try to add two colors together and make new colors in different groups.Then share their results with others.
The purpose of this is to help the students recognize the basic colors and make new colors by themselves.
- Find the words from the form and write on the exercise-book.
Finish it in two minutes and let someone write on the blackboard.
This is meant to check and make them remember the spelling of the words.
- Knowledge window.
Wide the students’ knowledge about colors in life and arouse their interest to go on learning English .
Step 4 Conclusion.
- Guide the students to conclude by chanting .
- Give the assignment.
TO sing the colors song .
TO draw a rainbow and paint it colors.
- Good wishes----try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.
