In the summer f 1405, Zheng He, ne f China's greatest explrers, set sail frm Taicang n his first vyage. A fleet f ver 200 ships navigated the blue seas, with almst 28,000 peple n bard, which was a splendid scene. It wuld take 500 years befre a larger fleet sailed the seas. Accrding t sme recrds, the largest ships were ver 140 metres in length, demnstrating the advanced technlgy and special skills used in cnstructing ships.Between 1405 and 1433, n behalf f the Ming Dynasty, Zheng He made a ttal f seven vyages. His ships were laded with china, silk, tea and ther treasures as gifts fr freign rulers, and the fleet paid friendly visits t mre than 30 cuntries and regins. He even sailed as far as the east cast f Africa. As they sailed, the navigatrs tk cmpass readings, kept lgs f their vyages and charted the cast. Later the detailed maps became ZhengHe's Navigatin Map.

As a teenager, he lved sailing, and he shwed great interest in gegraphy, which inspired him t begin his career as a seaman.Clumbus insisted n searching fr a direct sea rute t the East Indies by sailing acrss the Atlantic Ocean. After cntinuus attempts, he received financial supprt frm the King and Queen f Spain. On 3 August 1492, he departed frm Spain with three ships carrying abut 90 crewmen. The jurney was full f challenges: it tk lnger than expected, they faced a shrtage f fd, and ne f the ships was leaking badly, which put everyne n this ship in grave danger.
