Step Ⅰ Warming-up
1. Free talk
(1) Ss talk about the questions.
Do you go on a trip during the summer holidays? Where do you go?
(2) Ss share some interesting experiences during their summer holidays.
2. Brainstorming—Wonders of the world
设计意图:首先通过自由讨论引导学生谈论自己的暑期旅游,再通过头脑风暴引出世界七大奇迹,吸引学生,也引入本课有关世界奇观的话题。
Step Ⅱ Pre-listening
Activity 1
1. T shows some pictures about the wonders of the world and asks Ss to guess the names of these wonders.
2. T shows the background knowledge of the wonders.
设计意图:通过图文展示,帮助学生了解有关巨人之路、维多利亚瀑布、三峡大坝和兵马俑这些著名景观的相关知识。
Activity 2
1. T shows these words (ancient, man-made, modern, natural, wonder) and lets Ss match these words with their Chinese meanings and then try their best to remember these words as many as they can.
2. T plays the recording and asks Ss to listen and answer the questions.
3. T checks the answers in the whole class.
设计意图:通过简单的听力活动,巩固所学词汇,熟悉相关话题, 为单元主体活动做铺垫。

Activity 3
1. Ss listen and answer the question and then check the answer.
How many wonders of the world are mentioned in the conversation?

2. Ss listen again and check the true sentences. Then Ss work in pairs and check the answers.
设计意图:让学生带着问题听,提高学生听的效率。通过听力练习题目的设置,让学生获取对话主要内容和一些细节信息,锻炼学生快速获取信息的能力。
Step IV Post-listening
Activity 4
Ss read the conversation and answer the questions. Then T check the answers.
Role-play the conversation
设计意图:通过回答问题帮助学生加深对对话的理解,再通过角色扮演,让学生复述对话,巩固对对话的理解的同时,为完成下面活动5做准备。

T shows the everyday English and asks the Ss to translate them.

T asks Ss to complete the passage with the correct form of the words in the box and then check the answers.

1. T explains the pronunciation skills: The Pause.
2. Ss listen and mark the pauses of the sentences.
3. Ss listen again and check the answers.
Activity 7
1. T shows pictures about the wonders of the world and gives a general introduction of them.
2. T asks Ss to work in groups and make a discussion.
T: You have got some general knowledge of those wonders and now choose one of the wonders that you would like to visit and present your reasons to your group members.
3. T chooses several Ss to present their ideas in class.
