状语是修饰动词、形容词、副词等的句子成分。说明时间、地点、原因、目的、结果、条件等。可做状语的有：名词、副词、介词短语、不定式短语和从句等。例如：I get up at six. 我六点起床。I get up at schl. 我在学校起床。I brrwed a bk quickly at this bkstre yesterday.
必须符合从句的三个必须：必须是句子 / 必须有连接词 / 必须陈述句当一个从句充当状语成分，那个句子就是状语从句。I get up at six. I get up when it is dark. I get up at schl.I get up where I study.

用表示时间的连词连接一个句子作时间状语，这样的主从复合句就是时间状语从句。常由when, as, while, after, befre, until, as sn as 等从属连词引导。I was watching TV at ten 'clck yesterday.I was watching TV when my mther gt hme.
when/while/as的用法 - when
(1)When “当…的时候” + 延续性动词/短暂性动词I was reading bks when he came in.（过去式）当我正在看书的时候，他进来了Smene kncked at the dr when I was sleeping.（进行时） 当我正在睡觉时，有人敲门。(延续性动词)
（2）While “当……时”“在……期间”+ 延续性动词 while+进行时Father was cleaning the car while I was playing cmputer games.当我正在玩电脑游戏时，爸爸正在清洗汽车。（表对比）He came in while I was reading bks. 当我正在看书的时候，他进来了
when/while/as的用法-while
注意：while 也可以作并列连词，表转折对比关系，相当于but，译为“然而” 例如：I like listening t music, while my brther likes ding sprts.我喜欢听音乐，而我的兄弟爱好运动。

when/while/as的用法 - as
　　如果从句动作和主句动作同时发生，并且从句动作为延续性动词时，when，while，as 可以互换使用。例如：1. When /While /As we were dancing, a by came in. （dance 为延续性动词）2. When /While /As she was making a phne call, I was writing a letter. (make为延续)
