One Friday afternoon in my first year of high school, I saw a kid from my class walking home. His name was Kyle. He seemed to be carrying all his books. Then some kids ran at him, 1 all his books out of his arms. His glasses went flying and landed in the grass. My heart 2 to him, so I jogged over and handed him his 3 . He thanked me with a big smile.
Monday morning came and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books 4 . I teased him, “Boy, you are gonna build some real 5 with this pile of books every day!” He just laughed and handed me half the books.
He turned out to be the best student of our class and had to make a 6 on the graduation day. As he stood on stage, he 7 his throat, and began: “Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it 8 those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings…but mostly your friends… I am here to tell you that being a(n) 9 to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story. ”
I just looked at my friend with 10 as he talked about the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself. He had cleaned out his locker 11 his mum wouldn’t have to do it later and carry his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. “ 12 , I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the 13 . ”
I heard the gasp (倒抽气) in the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us about his 14 moment. I saw his mum and dad looking at me with that same grateful smile. Not until then did I realize the 15 of the smile. With one small action you can change a person’s life. God puts us all in each other’s lives to influence one another in some way.

She was interested in the people in her new school. An interesting fact is that her English was “good” 129 to kids in the new school. She meets mentor (辅导老师) that teaches her math so she could get 130 grades. Through this process, she 131 how actually smart she is and the only thing that was stopping her was fear.
To make the story 132 she started to teach math and later she got an offer to work for NASA on real rocket design.
The only thing that stops you is the 133 of unknown. 134 is that hard that you can’t learn or overcome. I 135 you to check her book called Mathaphobia: How You Can Overcome Your Math Fears and Become a Rocket Scientist by Olympia LePoint.

The most important lesson I learned in high school came at graduation several minutes 136 I left school.
I was rather shy back then, content to hang around with my few friends and to concentrate on my 137 . I was doing so well that by the end of the senior year I had perfect 138 and enough credits to go to college.
But my good record soon became a fear to my well-being. The headmaster asked me to give a leave-taking speech at graduation. I looked at him, my heart 139 fast. This was the reward for my hard work?
I was 140 about the decision, though finally agreeing to take up the task. I would 141 the honor with five other students. Still, I was uncertain whether the task was beyond me.
Graduation day soon arrived and, as 142 , I was nervous. I'd been practicing my speech for days, and I had it 143 in my mind clearly. But I had 144 been so frightened in my life. The first half hour of the 145 finally passed, and then my 146 came. My name was announced. I 147 to reach the stage without falling down. But within minutes, I finished my speech, 148 back to my seat.
Now I still have the 149 of that speech. My voice trembled(颤抖)a little, but 150 it was clear and strong. I'm proud of that tape. I achieved 151 I'd never dreamed—I spoke in front of hundreds of people. The successful completion of that speech gave me the 152 to participate in class at college, to give oral reports, and to eventually break free from my 153 .
I never would have chosen to give a speech at graduation. But I'm 154 I did. I know it may well 155 to be one of my shining moments.

Everyone wants a blue ribbon. Blue. First place. The best. However, I was 156 a blue-ribbon person in sports.
