If you’re dreaming of visiting one of those picture-perfect European towns filled with old-world attractiveness and scenic beauty, here is a look at the most beautiful small towns in Europe.
Manarola
Manarola, Italy, is filled with rainbow-colored homes along the Mediterranean(地中海) coast. This attractive fishing town is famous for its unbelievable wine, and the paintings. Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, is a fascinating(迷人的) mountain town. Once two separate(分开的) towns, one Roman and the other Teutonic, the 1936 Winter Olympics forced them to become one, though the two sides still have different characters(特点). The town dates back to 15 AD, filled with narrow, cobblestoned streets lined with historic three or four-story buildings painted with religious scenes(宗教场景).
Marsaxlokk
The energetic trading port of Marsaxlokk, Malta, was built in 900 BC. Today, this pictures-like town is the main supplier(供应地) of fish to the island nation that sits in the Mediterranean Sea. It has no modern buildings to ruin its attractiveness. With such quiet surroundings, including the traditional luzzu’s (fishing boats), it’s a particularly charming(迷人的) place to visit.[中^国教育出版&~网#@]

根据Manarola中“You can drive to Manarola, but you’ll have to park just outside the town and then take a shuttle bus or walk in on foot.”
根据“Today, this pictures-like town is the main supplier of fish to the island nation that sits in the Mediterranean Sea. It has no modern buildings to ruin its attractiveness.”
Manarola, Italy, is filled with rainbow-colored homes along the Mediterranean(地中海) coast. This attractive fishing town is famous for its unbelievable wine, and the paintings. This postcard-perfect seaside fishing town has a row of brightly colored buildings along with a rich and colorful history.
B
I work with Volunteers for Wildlife, a rescue(救援) and education organization at Bailey Arboretum in Locust Valley. Trying to help injured, displaced or sick creatures can be heartbreaking; survival(存活) is never certain. However, when it works, it is simply beautiful.
I got a rescue call from a woman in Muttontown. She had found a young owl(猫头鹰) on the ground. When I arrived, I saw a 2to-3weekold owl. It had already been placed in a carrier for safety.
I examined the chick(雏鸟) and it seemed fine. If I could locate(定位) the nest, I might have been able to put it back, but no luck. My next work was to construct(建造) a nest in a tree.[来&源:z^zs%t@e*p.com]
The homeowner was very helpful. A wire basket was found. I put some pine branches(松树枝) into the basket to make this nest safe and comfortable. I placed the chick in the nest, and it quickly calmed down.
Now all that was needed were the parents, but they were nowhere to be found. I gave the homeowner a recording of the hunger screams of owl chicks. These advertise the presence of chicks to adults; they might also encourage our chick to start calling as well. I gave the owner as much information as possible and headed home to see what news the night might bring.
A nervous night to be sure, but sometimes the spirits of nature smile on us all! The homeowner called to say that the parents had responded(回应) to the recordings. I drove over and saw the chick in the nest looking healthy and active. And with it was the greatest sight of all — LUNCH!The parents had done their duty and would probably continue to do so.
4. What is unavoidable(不可避免的) in the author’s rescue work according to Paragraph 1?
A. Failing to save the creature.
B. Getting injured in his work.
C. Feeling uncertain about his future.
D. Creatures forced out of their homes.
5. Why was the author called to Muttontown?
A. To rescue a woman.
B. To take care of a woman.
C. To look at a baby owl.
D. To cure(治愈) a young owl.
6. What made the chick calm down?
A. A new nest.[来源:z#z~step&.c%om*]
B. Some food.
C. A recording.
D. Its parents.
7. How would the author feel about the result of the event?
A. It’s unexpected.[中国^@教*%育出#版网]
B. It’s beautiful.
C. It’s funny.
D. It’s disappointing.
A 5. C 6. A 7. B

Trying to help injured, displaced or sick creatures can be heartbreaking; survival is never certain. 故选A。
I got a rescue call from a woman in Muttontown. She had found a young owl(猫头鹰) on the ground. When I arrived, I saw a 2-to 3-week-old owl可知有人给作者打电话是因为有只小猫头鹰掉在地上了,作者赶过去看看情况。
I placed the chick in the nest, and it quickly calmed down可知在作者把小猫头鹰放在窝里之后,它很快就安静下来,所以是窝让小猫头鹰安静下来的。故选A。
However, when it works, it is simply beautiful.

One Moore Elementary school teacher is showing students the importance of communication through “shout-outs”. Third Grade Moore Elementary Teacher Lindsey Winders said a shout-out is a compliment(称赞) that students can say or write down. “Like, ‘hey I noticed you doing a really great job solving your math problems yesterday. I wanted to make sure you know that I saw you do that,’” Winders said.
Winders said she makes sure she is giving shout-outs to her students every day. “I might write them a sticky note, or write them a quick little note in their planner. I might just say it to them on their way into the classroom or on their way out of the classroom, but most importantly I try to do it every day,” Winders said.
In addition to the compliments, Winders has the students greet(问候) each other every morning during morning meeting. She will have students give examples to the class of how to communicate in different settings(场景). Third grade student Nayelli Moranchel said she had given at least six shout-outs this year. “It makes me happy, because they always write something back,” Moranchel said.
Recently, Winders took it one step further and wrote a personalized note on each of her students’ desk. “In our classroom, sometimes it can be challenging for me to give a compliment or a shout-out to each and every one of them in a way that feels equal(平等的) and valuable at the same time. So I decide that there is no better way than leaving a note on their desk that can stay for as long as they wants it to,” Winders said.
Winders said it is encouraging when she sees her students copy the act, and give each other compliments without her guidance(指导).

Mr. and Mrs. Zhang all work in our school. They live far from the school, and it takes them about a hour and a half to go to work every day. In their spare time, they are interesting in planting vegetables in their garden, that is on the rooftop of their house. They often get up earlier and water the vegetables together. They have also bought for some gardening tools. Beside, they often get some useful informations from the Internet. When summer came, they will invite their students pick the fresh vegetables!
1. all→both
2. a→an
3. interesting→interested
4. that→which
5. earlier→early
6. 去掉for
7. Beside→Besides
8. informations→information [
9. came→comes
10. students后加to
Mr.and Mrs.Zhang 是两个人, 两者都…,要用 both;而all 指三人及以上,因此本句把all→both。
因此 a→an。
因此把that→which。
buy 是及物动词,buy sth. for sb.=buy sb. sth.。
invite sb.to do sth.
The tree, which is four hundred years old, is very famous here.
He is the man, from whom the thief stole some money .
Bamboo is hollow, which makes it light.

2、两人周六上午7:00在火车站见面;

The Palace Museum is where the imperial(帝王的) families used to live and it is now a historical museum with collections of valuable antiques(古董). I have booked tickets for both of us on the Internet. The train leaves at 7:40 a.m this Saturday. So we’d better meet at the train station at 7:00 a.m. It usually takes about half an hour to pick tickets, check in and get on board. Please do remember to take your passport with you. We need it for our tickets and accommodation(住宿).
