Stamp collection was once considered a harmless and educational pastime for small boys. It still is — but with a difference. Grandpa and grandma have joined the small boys, along with shoe clerks, waitresses, truck drivers, college professors , businessmen, presidents and kings. Stamp collecting has today grown into big business.
All the really rare old stamps are already owned by collectors who refuse to part with them. But even if these owners were willing to sell, few people could afford to buy.
A stamp becomes valuable because it is “ rare”. Modern collectors with little money to spend have to create their own “ rarities”. One rarity that stamp collectors look for is an error in the stamp. The error may be so small that it cannot be seen with the naked eye. If it is there, however, it makes the stamp more valuable.
Stamp collectors have another way of making their collections rare or unusual. They bring together as many examples as they they can of a certain kind of stamp. What makes such a collection unusual is the time and the idea that went inot making it. One may collect only stamps of some color. Another may collect only stamps from a certain foreign country, or stamps connected with some person, place or event. Still other collectors are interested in the tiny holes along the edge of a stamp. They may be long or short, round or oval. Some stamps may not have them at all. Another thing that makes a stamp “ rare” is its postmark or its cancellation. Collectors go through a lot of trouble to have letters mailed to them from unusual places.
24.Grandpa and grandma have joined the small boys in collecting stamps because ________.
A.even kings and presidents are also collecting stamps.
B.they want to be with their garandsons

It is calculated that some of the world’s 7,000 languages are in danger of getting extinct. “For example, Ainu, a language in Japan, is now seriously threatened, with only 10 native speakers remaining,“ said lead study author Tatsuya Amano at the University of Cambridge in England.
The scientists found that 25 percent of the world’s languages are threatened(威胁).After identifying where the endangered(濒危的)languages were, they looked for any environmental and social or economic factors those languages might have in common, such as poor areas or rapid population growth. “We find that at the global scale, language speaker declines are strongly linked to economic growth-that is, declines are particularly occurring in economically developed regions,” said Amano.
“One important finding of this new study is that languages in the tropics and Himalayan region are likely to be increasingly threatened in the near future, because these regions still have many local languages with a small number of speakers, and at the same time are experiencing rapid economic growth,” said Amano.
Economic growth may endanger languages for a variety of reasons. For instance, speakers of endangered languages may view another more popular language as offering economic opportunities, and thus abandon their own languages. “There are other important factors that might endanger languages,” said the researchers. For instance, policies regarding how languages are used and taught in schools can be very different among countries and even within each country, and these factors may explain more detailed patterns in language endangerment.
Amano suggested it could be possible to forecast(预见)future threats to the diversity(多样化) of languages. “There exists detailed information on future changes in the environment, economies and climates(气候),”Amano said. “Using such information, together with the findings of this study and further analysis, we would like to understand what will happen to the world’s languages, where it will happen and which languages will be threatened in particular.”
28.What can we know about Ainu?
A.It has changed little over the years.
    B.It threatens Japanese language.
C.It is a local language in Japan.
    D.It is put under protection.
29.What is paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.What should be taught in schools.
    B.What might endanger a language.
    C.How economic growth is achieved.
    D.How a language becomes popular.
30.What does Amano mean in the last paragraph?
A.We must take action to save the environment.
B.More and more languages will get missing.
C.It will be easier to learn language changes.
    D.Factors threatening languages will double.
31.What can be known from the study?
A.Over 7,000 languages have been threatened.
B.Local language must be spoken in every school.
C.It is possible to use only one language worldwide.
D.The number of tropics’ local language speakers may become smaller in the future.

Recently, a company called SkyDrive gave a test of its new flying car, the SD-03. The small car flew at an altitude of around 6 feet around up to four minutes. The SD-03 is powered by batteries and has 8 motors, which lift it straight off the ground. Since flying cars don't use runways, they need to be able to take off and land by going straight up or down. Its breakthrough was that a pilot was on board. Tomohiro Fukuzawa, who leads SkyDrive, said, "Of the world's more than 100 flying car projects, only a handful has succeeded with a person on board."
The world's leading companies are investing (投资) heavily to work on more advanced flying cars of their own. That includes airplane makers like Airbus and Boeing, car makers like Toyota, Hyundai, and Porsche, and ride services like Uber. Some governments, including Japan's, are supporting the idea, hoping that in the future, flying cars will be useful for short trips like taxi rides in cities. Flying cars could also save time in emergencies, and help reach some places that can't be reached by road.
However, controlling a flying car is so complex that most people won't be able to do it. Even SkyDrive's test flight was kept stable by an automatic (自动的) computer system, and a backup team stood ready to control the car from the ground. Besides, safety is a major problem. What happens when a motor fails? That's a reason why the SD-03 has eight motors-as backups. All realities have led many companies to take a wait-and-see approach to developing flying cars. But people who believe in flying cars point out that cars and airplanes faced lots of challenges at first, too and that with time, many of the big problems were settled eventually.
Mr. Fukuzawa wants SkyDrive to be able to fly two passengers on trips of up to 3 miles by 2023. By 2050, he hopes people will be able to fly anywhere inside Tokyo in just 10 minutes. ''I think flying cars will become normal in the near future, " he says.
32.What made the SD-03's test flight by SkyDrive special?
A.It was the first manned flying car. B.It landed without using a runway.
C.It flew much longer than expected. D.It was powered by batteries.
33.What are the famous companies like Airbus doing about the flying car?
A.Uniting to design it together. B.Developing it independently.
C.Promoting it all over the world. D.Persuading governments to invest it.
34.Which aspects does Paragraph 3 mainly discuss about developing the flying car?
    A.The designs. B.Future development.
    C.Different comments. D.The challenges.
35.What can we learn according to Mr. Fukuzawa?
A.He doesn't think the flying cars will be promoted.
B.The flying cars will be able to fly two passengers by 2023.
C.He is optimistic about the use of the flying cars in the future.
D.He isn't certain about the future of the flying cars.

    The Smile
I was in grade 7 and was the topper of my class. Friends surrounded me everywhere and I was the star of the school. My parents started creating special spaces at home to display all my medals, certificates and awards. Guests who came home, teachers who met my parents, friends and everyone who met my parents always had these words to say, “You have a very talented child. You are very lucky.” I was filled with happiness and pride when I heard these words and I knew that I had made my parents very happy.
Days rolled by, and I grew stronger and smarter and I was no match for anyone in any field. Things were fine until one day. I came back home with an award I won for standing first in the speech competition at school. Filled with pride, I gave it to my mother and waited for her beautiful smile. She smiled and congratulated me and asked, “Did your friends participate in the race? Did they run the race with you? What were their positions in the race?” I was a little angry. I have won the first place and why would my mother want to know about my friends. In fact, I do not even remember who was second and third or who participated because I was focused to be the first and the other positions were of no significance to me. I managed to tell her that I was very tired and I do not remember everything.
I started noticing a change in my mother, especially her smile. It was not the same lovely smile that I used to see. She started asking about my friends who were average achievers and who I do not even consider my equals now. I do not even know where they sit in my classroom. I was meant to be the first and I did not want to look back to see who was behind. I started ignoring her questions about my friends and I managed to change the topic.

W: Once, there was an old woman who liked to bake cookies. She didn’t have anyone to share them with, so she just gave them away to the children around her neighborhood. This went on for several years, and the cookies became quite famous, especially at Christmas. The parents began to like the cookies, too, and the old woman’s kitchen became very busy, so the children came by to help. Then one Christmas, the old woman became sick. There were no cookies, and there was no money to pay the doctor. The children were very sad. Later, they had a bright idea: they could bake cookies themselves by following the old woman’s recipe. Soon, the children opened a cookie store. They had a very good cookie business right away. They made enough money to pay the doctor. After the old woman got better, she was asked to become the manager of the store, selling special cookies for all the holidays of the year. After the old woman died, the children, grown up, kept the cookie business alive in her name. Maybe life is like a Christmas cookie. The more you share it with your friends, the more you’re likely to enjoy it.

根据第一段中“For example, Ainu, a language in Japan, is now seriously threatened, with only 10 native speakers remaining,“ said lead study author Tatsuya Amano at the University of Cambridge in England.”(该研究的主要作者、英国剑桥大学的天野达也(Tatsuya Amano)说:“例如,日本的 Ainu,现在受到严重威胁,母语使用者仅剩10人。)
根据第四段“Economic growth may endanger languages for a variety of reasons. For instance, speakers of endangered languages may view another more popular language as offering economic opportunities, and thus abandon their own languages. “There are other important factors that might endanger languages,” said the researchers. For instance, policies regarding how languages are used and taught in schools can be very different among countries and even within each country, and these factors may explain more detailed patterns in language endangerment.”(由于种种原因,经济增长可能危及语言。
根据最后一段中““Using such information, together with the findings of this study and further analysis, we would like to understand what will happen to the world’s languages, where it will happen and which languages will be threatened in particular.””(利用这些信息,结合这项研究的发现和进一步的分析,我们想了解世界上的语言会发生什么,会在哪里发生,特别是哪些语言会受到威胁。)
根据文章大意以及第三段““One important finding of this new study is that languages in the tropics and Himalayan region are likely to be increasingly threatened in the near future, because these regions still have many local languages with a small number of speakers, and at the same time are experiencing rapid economic growth,” said Amano.”(Amano也说:“这项新研究的一个重要发现是,热带和喜马拉雅地区的语言在不久的将来可能会受到越来越大的威胁,因为这些地区仍然有许多当地语言,使用人数很少,与此同时,这些地区正在经历快速的经济增长。”)

根据文章第一段“Its breakthrough was that a pilot was on board.( 它的突破在于机上有一名飞行员。)” 故选A。
根据文章第二段“The world's leading companies are investing (投资) heavily to work on more advanced flying cars of their own.( 世界领先的公司正在大举投资研发更先进的飞行汽车。)”
根据文章第三段“However, controlling a flying car is so complex that most people won't be able to do it.(然而,控制一辆会飞的汽车是如此复杂,以至于大多数人都无法做到。)”和“Besides, safety is a major problem.(此外,安全是一个主要的问题。)”

36.本空后的“It is an art because if you practice it enough times you will master it. It is a science in that there are rules that must be followed for communication to occur.”
37.根据上文中的“However, many of us have difficulty communicating with each other effectively.”
38.根据主题句Important contexts及本空后的“The receiver can better understand the message behind the message, the subtext of the message and so on with the help of the context.”
40.根据本空后的“When you are not listening, the communication is not getting through.”

A. disorder混乱;B. suffering痛苦;C. disposal处置;D. surgery外科手术。根据“and heartbreak in the New Year bush fires.”
A. recalled回忆;B. imagined想象;C. sustained维持;D. criticized批评。 故选A。
A. escaping逃走;B. crowding拥挤;C. flying飞翔;D. running奔跑。
故选A。
A. comfort安慰;B. peace和平;C. treat享受;D. safety安全。根据上文“Jess, along with her family, spent two terrifying days on the local boat”推知,杰西和家人在船上度过两天是为了安全。故选D。
A. rules规则;B. spirits精神;C. habits习惯;D. promises承诺。
A. reserve保留;B. release释放;C. restore重建;D. restrict限制。根据上文“The sky was turned to blood red, and the embers (灰烬) were 3 all around us.”
A. rescued拯救;B. lost失去;C. guaranteed保证;D. claimed认领。
A. knocked敲击;B. blown吹;C. exploded爆炸;D. burnt燃烧。
A. positive积极的;B. harmonious和谐的;C. dynamic动态的;D. sensitive敏感的。根据后文“at least now she would not have to clean her bedroom anymore”可知,杰西在努力安慰自己“至少不用打扫卧室了”,也就是说,她在努力找出灾难带来的积极一面。故选A。
A. precisely精确地;B. luckily幸运地;C. actively积极地;D. anxiously焦虑地。
A. awaited等待;B. welcomed欢迎;C. enhanced增强,提高;D. contributed贡献。根据“ to the new “home””可知,此处是指欢迎小鸡来到它们的新家。welcome…to…
故选A。
A. dominate占主导地位;B. expand扩大;C. struggle奋斗;D. shine闪耀。

I can bring knowledge and可知,此处应填名词和knowledge并列,作动词bring的宾语,happy的名词形式为happiness,不可数。故填happiness。
故填who/that。
故填to face。
故填to。
both…and…“两个都;既…… 故填and。
根据前文“I will learn harder”的句意可知,此处应用形容词much的比较级,修饰名词knowledge。故填more。
66.Good morning! My name is Li Hua. Today, I’d like to talk about the power of music.
Music is playing an important part in our life. Most of us are fond of music and listen to music regularly.
In my opinion, music is very important. To start with, when I feel sad, music can comfort me then I can feel more confident about life and my problems. Also, when I have too much pressure with my schoolwork, music can make me feel relaxed. In addition, when I have some difficulty with sleep, some soft music can help me fall asleep easily. Finally, when I am in a state of worry, music can calm me down.
All in all, music is so important that life is a journey through a desert if there is no music in our life.

    67.Paragraph 1:
One day, it was too much to handle when I was getting ready for the sports competition when she asked why I was not practicing with my loser friends. I told my mother that I was meant to be the first and I had no business to be with friends who are not ambitious. My mother patiently listened to me and told me that in the name of success I have become like a horse with blinds that makes its vision focus only on what is in front and not bother about what is around. I have forgotten to enjoy the simple little things in life, spending time and helping my friends in their difficulty, being their support, learning together. I realized my mistake and decided to change.
    Paragraph 2:
I was on the track field the next day at school ready to run the 200m running race. The race began and in no time, I was in lead. Suddenly, I heard my friend fall to the ground. With no second thoughts I ran to him, lifted him and helped him finish the race. I helped my friend to sit down and relax and while doing so in the corner of my eye, I knew there was someone who was looking at me. It was my mother. Her eyes were filled with tears and there I saw what I have not seen for years.
