Habit is something we do almost unconsciously （无意识地）. An example of this would be having breakfast or saying "please" and "thank you". Good habits can be part of our daily life. But if we don't have those habits, how can we form them? According to a study published by the European Journal of Social Psychology（心理学）, it takes about 66 days to form a new habit. Depending only on willpower may not be the answer.

Questioning why you want something could be the first key. Do you want to lose weight because you want to be healthier or look prettier? Keeping the goal in your mind may help you stick to a habit.

Try not to be influenced by your mood-a bad mood may mean you don't want to do anything.

Then, you should also avoid trying to change too much at once---remember that taking steps slowly matters. Giving up all your favorite foods, keeping exercising, and stopping drinking at the same time will probably result in failure. But don't worry about failing--- just start again!

Finally, don't do things outside your comfort zone （舒适区）. If you hate carrots, don't try hard to add them to your diet just to be healthier. Eat something you like! It might not be quick, but if you follow these tips, you may be able to change something for the better or kick a bad habit.

Each year, two million tourists visit the beautiful islands off the Australian coast. However, most visitors just visit for a day. The tourism officials wanted more people to stay longer so they decided to hire a person to live on the islands and write about the area. They posted the job on their website and waited for replies.

Several months later, the tourism officials in Queensland received 35, 000 applications from people all over the world. They chose 15 top applicants （申请者）and invited them to Australia. The interview was unusual: four days of swimming, diving, and writing blogs about the experience. In the end, they chose the best applicant: Ben Southall.

This was the beginning of Southall’s amazing experiences. From his first day at work to his last, he explored the islands. He swam in the clear, blue water and dived among the coral reefs （珊瑚礁）. He visited local hotels, and he ate at all the best restaurants, “Every day was a different experience: staying in five - star resorts （度假村）, diving, water - skiing and then writing about it. ” Meanwhile, people all over the world were reading his blogs.

It wasn’t all fun, however. Australia is home to many poisonous animals such as snakes and fish. For most of the time, Southall managed to avoid all of them. However, in the last week, his luck came to an end. A poisonous jellyfish stung him. Luckily, he got well, and was able to finish his work.
