There was once a famous doctor in a university hospital in Japan who was known for being very strict with his students. When this doctor scolded his students for “slow movement of hands” or “weak concentration," the students easily felt down. But one student was different. All the time, this student only repeated “yes,” and seemed not to care about what was being said. Instead, the student concentrated on strengthening his talent. Later, this student became the only one to inherit the know-how of surgery from the doctor. Watanabe Junishi, a Japanese doctor and writer, praised such “wise dullness” in his new book, The Power of Insensitivity.
The message of this book is that while being sensitive is preferred in general, in everyday life being insensitive is more useful. I argues that insensitivity, or the dullness of emotions or senses, is not a shortcoming but a talent. Those who do not find any inconvenience in a strange place to sleep, those who immediately forget anything bad that has happened, and those who are not affected when scolded or criticized by others are the types of people with the talent to be insensitive.
This is not the same as being lazy. The author advises readers to concentrate their abilities inward and to maximize them rather than using up abilities outward on other people or surroundings.
insulting words have expanded blood vessels(血管)and thus better circulation. People with insensitivity become less sick after eating bad food. There are also theories that argue that those with sensitive sight or hearing age earlier than others. Cancer is more likely to be cured when the patient takes things easy.
In human relationships, such as marriage or companionship, seeking perfection only increases pressure and tends to break down relationships easily. The author's advice to avoid responding to each and every piece of criticism and to stay firm at one's own center has already provided me with strength.
24.What is the purpose of the first paragraph?
A.To show the teacher-student relationship in Japan.
B.To tell a story of a medical student.
C.To introduce the topic to be discussed.
D.To highlight the importance of concentration.
25 Which of the following people shows “wise dullness”?
A.A foreigner who finds it hard to adapt himself to a new environment.
B.An employee who often ignores criticism and is unwilling to work.
C.A traveler who is particular about everything about other countries.
D.A student who seldom considers small conflicts as a big deal.
26. Why did Watanabe Junishi write the book The Power of Insensitivity?
A.To make a fortune and earn a reputation.
B.To show focusing on the inner world can be beneficial.
C.To suggest the book as the best treatment for cancer.
D.To demonstrate the power of insensibility to maintain relationships.
27.What's the attitude of the writer of the text toward the power of insensitivity?
A.objective

Screenshots of conversations with OpenAI’s latest bot(网上机器人),ChatGPT,has gone viral on social media recently.
ChatGPT is an AI chatbot system released in November to show off and test what a very large, powerful AI system can accomplish. The tool lets you type questions using natural language that the chatbot answers in conversational,if somewhat stilted(生硬的)language. The bot will remember the thread of your dialogue, using previous questions and answers to inform its next responses, which are derived from huge amount of information on the Internet.
ChatGPT's expertise is broad, and you can ask it countless questions, like explaining physics, asking for birthday party ideas and getting programming help, and often will get an answer that's useful. When I asked it for words that rhymed with “purple,” it offered a few suggestions. When I followed up “How about with pink?”, it didn't miss a beat. It's a big deal. The tool seems pretty knowledgeable: it can be creative, and its answers can sound authoritative. A few days after its launch, more than a million people are trying out ChatGPT.
But its creator warns that ChatGPT “may occasionally generate incorrect or misleading information," so be careful. I once asked it to write a poem, and it did, though I don't think any literature experts would be impressed. I then asked it to make it more exciting, and ChatGPT pumped it up with words like battlefield(战场),adrenaline(肾上腺素),thunder and adventure.
Here's the catch: ChatGPT doesn't exactly know anything. It's an AI that's trained to recognize patterns in vast text harvested from the Internet, and then further trained with human assistance to deliver more useful, better dialogue. Chatbots have been of interest for years to companies looking for ways to help customers get what they need and to AI researchers trying to tackle the Turing Test. Perhaps AI will play an integral role in solving today's labor issues, and what was once a future vision is more present than ever before. Perhaps ChatGPT really is capable of disrupting the world's largest search engine. But until it can drill down(钻研)the human aspects of how we communicate and interact, and we better understand the risks and dangerous implications that a perfect computer can present, my attitude towards it remains
28.What is NOT true about ChatGPT?
A.People have shown great interest in trying the bot out.
B. It can understand questions raised in natural human language.
C.It will upgrade and replace the search engine we're using.
D. It's an advanced tech product released by OpenAl.
29.What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 4 tell us about ChatGPT?
A.It can derive answer from vast information on the Internet.
B.It can respond quick to the question raised in dialogue.
C.It may not be reliable when it comes to computer programming.
D. It may fail you if you expect it to be a creative writer.
30.What might be the missing word in the last sentence?
A.favourable
B.intolerant
C.indifferent
D.doubtful
31.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.ChatGPT:How to Use this Viral OpenAI Chatbot
B.ChatGPT:A Cool and Alarming Tech now Trending
C.ChatGPT: Finally, an AI Chatbot Worth Talking to
D.ChatGPT: Test the Future of Conversation Now

We are in the middle of another technology revolution. The digital economy will contribute 48% of GDP in China in 2035, up from 23% in 2020.
With the implementation(实施)of 5G and consumer AI, smart cities are no longer just a concept. Indeed, in a surprising silver lining to the Covid-19 pandemic, smart city apps have shown they can help China contain the spread of the virus, helping to recover the economy. Other successful examples include applications for better traffic management, flood control and crime reduction.
The number of smart street lights required in China is estimated at 13million assuming a 30% penetration rate(安装率)of all street lights in 2025. When the network of smart street lights increases further, it will also likely expand to cover more functions. In addition to basic lighting, it could include monitoring cameras, auto-police calling when the data shows abnormalities, weather information collection, WI-Fi hotspots converting telecommunication signals, e-vehicle chargers, and so on.
In order to deal with the difficulty of parking, Shenzhen has combined 5G and AI to enhance the efficiency of car park usage. For example, drivers can seamlessly book a parking space at a hospital at the same time as scheduling a doctor's appointment. Drivers also know whether all of the parking spaces are occupied at the time of the doctor's appointment and can choose other transportation. Besides, Robots and sensors installed in the auto-valet parking lots work together to find a space and park the car for drivers, which provide much convenience for drivers.
With more technology applications, there is bound to be disruption(扰乱)to existing activities and the labour they require. If smart cities help driverless cars to take off, the thousands of drivers of taxis or delivery drivers that find low skilled employment in China's cities could be displaced and struggle to find alternative employment. New jobs will certainly arise from the implementation of smart city technology, but will likely require different skills and knowledge to those being displaced. The government will need to assist those whose employment is disrupted to find alternatives.
32.The underlined expression “a surprising silver lining" in paragraph 2 most probably means
A.an unexpected disaster that may damage smart cities.
B.a good thing that happened in the gloomy pandemic.
C.a string of silver objects related to the disease.
D.apps offering us surprising chances to improve ourselves.
33.Smart street lights may have functions EXCEPT that
A.they will provide power for e-vehicle cars.
B.they will offer video record if accidents happen.
C.they show us the weather forecast on the screens of pillar.
D.they can give emergency calls when they sense potential danger.
34.What can be implied according to paragraph 4?
A.The cars can be parked by themselves without any help.
B.The use of 5G and AI helps drivers choose a better way of transportation.
C.Drivers can change a booked parking space when they reach the destination.
D.Shenzhen has enough parking spaces with the development of smart city.
35.If the writer continues this passage, what might be informed in the next paragraph?
A.Examples of advanced technology contributing to development of smart cities.
B.Assistance from government to promote application of new technology.
C.Measures taken to provide alternatives of employment.
D.Factors limiting the further development of smart cities.

A few years ago, a child was lost in the woods. He was out with his brothers and sisters gathering berries, and was accidentally separated from them, and lost. The children, after looking in vain for some time in search of the little wanderer, returned, just in the dusk of the evening, to inform their parents that their brother was lost and could not be found.
The woods, at that time, were full of bears. The darkness of a cloudy night was rapidly coming on and the alarmed father, gathering a few of his neighbors, hurried to search for the lost child. The mother remained at home almost distracted with suspense(心神不宁).
As the clouds gathered, and the darkness increased, the father and neighbors, with highly excited fears went across the woods in all directions and raised loud shouts to attract the attention of the child.
But their search was in vain. They could find no trace of the wanderer and as they stood under the branches of the tall trees and listened, they wished they might hear his weak voice. However, no sound was brought to their ears but the strong wind as it swept through the thick branches of the forest.
The gathering clouds threatened an approaching storm, and the deep darkness of the night had already enveloped them. It was difficult to imagine what were the feelings of that father. And who could imagine how deep the worry which filled the heart of that mother, as she heard the wind and looked at the darkness in which her child was wandering!
The search was continued in vain till nine o'clock in the evening. Then, one of the parties was sent back to the village, to collect the villagers for a more extensive search. Every heart sympathized in the sorrows of the anxious parents. Soon groups of the people were seen climbing the hill. Before long, the rain began to fall, but no news came back to the village of the lost child. Hardly an eye was that night closed in sleep, and there was not a mother who did not feel for the parents.

续写
The night passed away, and the morning dawned, and yet no news came. Mom kept pacing up and down in the room, looking out of the window anxiously and nervously. At the thought of his little boy who might be threatened by wild bears, she felt a lump in her throat. Outside of the window, a howling storm was sweeping crazily, with the loud shouts from all parties echoing in every corner of the village. Their coats and helmets were all wet through with rains and sweats. Exhausted as they were, none of them ever paused for a rest. (86)
About seven in the morning, villagers made arrangements for a final search. This time, they found themselves walking on a foreign path. All at once, a man shouted with wild excitement as he found berries on the ground. Following the berries, they soon found the little wanderer in the dark comer of a dark cave, shivering and weeping in fear. “There! There!" the father sprang to his feet and dashed towards the boy, holding him into his arms tightly. At the sight of his father and all the familiar villagers, the boy eventually beamed a relieved and tired smile, with tears blurring his vision. (92)

M:Well, every house has solar panels(太阳能电池板)on the roof, which helps people save money on their electricity bills. And the biggest change is that there is a wind farm about 5 km outside of the town.
W:It sounds like the town has gone green. How did these changes happen?(16)
M:Chris said that the town set up a suggestion box, and all the children in the school would come up with ideas to make the town greener.(16)
W:Wow.That is such a meaningful way to make the town a better place!

If you are just tuning in, I'm Bob Burgess and this is Bob's Classic Rock Show, on Toronto FM from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every weekday night. (17) It's another snowy Thursday evening here in Canada, and today's show is about a band that got together in 1962, two years before I was born. (18) This band has been popular since my birth. Have you got it? It's the Rolling Stones! I'm a big fan of the band's rock music, (19)and I was lucky enough to see them live in London in 1982 when I was a young student. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Have you ever seen a live Rolling Stones concert? Call me up and tell me what you think about the band. But before that, let us hear one of their famous songs, “Paint it Black". After that, I'll slow it down a bit with Counting Crows' first song, “Mr.Jones".(20) Now, here is Sir Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones.
