一、教学目标

1.To understand the story about aliens by looking at the pictures and listening.

2.To practice talking about what the man and the woman have seen.

3.To rewrite the story by working with a group.

1.Review the usage of modal verbs in conversation.

2.Write a short passage from the conversation by using modal verbs and past tense.

五、教学过程

Step 1 Greeting

T: Good afternoon, everyone! Happy to see you again. Today we’re going to learn a new lesson. For it is a listening and speaking class, I think all of you will be interested in it.

Step 2 Learning aims

Show Ss learning aims. Let them read aloud, and then summarize what knowledge we can get after this class.

Step 3 Warming up

1.Watch a video about UFO.

2.Answer some questions after watching.

Questions: 1) What did you see in the video?

2) Who might be in it?

3) Have you ever seen any movies about aliens and UFO? How

do you like them?

Step 4 Look and say

1.Look at the following pictures carefully.

2.Describe each picture using the words in the box.

Step 5 Pre-listening

Guess what happened to the man according to the given pictures.

Step 6 While-listening

1. Listen to the tape for the first time and number the picture from 1 to 3.

2. Listen to it for a second time and complete the sentences.

3.Check the work by asking Ss to use the complete sentences.

Step 7 After-listening

Guess what is the ending of the story by choosing right answers from the given items.

Step 8 Summarize

1.Let the students read the conversation by themselves. While they are reading, try to underline the model verbs included in it.

2. Summarize the usage of modal verbs.
