much此处作程度副词，意为“……得多”，用在形容词或副词的比较级前面，相当于a lot。

2.10 minutes by bus乘公共汽车10分钟的路程。

10 minutes by bus意为“乘公共汽车10分钟的路程”，表示距离，而不是一段时间，类似的还有：15 minutes’walk步行15分钟的路程，two hours by train坐火车2个小时的路程。
