Hwever, ne f her Clumbia law prfessrs advcated n her behalf and helped t cnvince Judge Edmund Palmieri f the U.S. District Curt fr the Suthern District f New Yrk t ffer Ginsburg a clerkship.
In the 1970s, Ginsburg was a leading figure in gender-discriminatin litigatin(诉讼). In 1980 Demcratic
U.S. Pres. Jimmy Carter appinted Ginsburg t the U.S. Curt f Appeals fr the District f Clumbia Circuit in Washingtn, D.C. While serving as a judge n the D.C. Circuit, Ginsburg develped a reputatin as a practical liberal with a keen attentin t detail.

The mre educatin yu have, the mre likely yu are t have a jb. This relatinship hlds true acrss the
U.S. labr market, with ne prminent exceptin. In February, 74.6% f men 25 and lder with nly a bachelr's degree were emplyed, accrding t the Bureau f Labr Statistics, while just 72.7% f men with advanced degrees were.
This seeming inversin(倒置) has been present fr all but five mnths ver the past five years, which is hw far back the data are available. It's been driven entirely by labr frce participatin. That is, men with advanced degrees have a lwer unemplyment rate than thse with bachelr's degrees, but they're less likely t be in the labr frce (either wrking fr pay r actively lking fr a jb). In February 77.9% f men wh hld nly bachelr's degrees were in the labr frce, vs. 75% f men with advanced degrees.
The phenmenn has yet t receive any attentin frm researchers, as far as I've been able t discver. Men with graduate and prfessinal degrees make up nly 6% f the cuntry's 25-and-lder ppulatin, and thse wh d have jbs are the highest-paid peple in the labr frce. This is nt a disadvantaged grup in need f attentin. Sme highly credentialed(有文凭的) male labr frce drputs may have just gtten rich and retired early.
On the ther hand, wmen did pass men in under-graduate cllege enrllment in 1978 and in graduate schl enrllment in 1988. By the fall f 2018 they made up 56% f U.S. undergraduates and 60% f graduate students. Men still tend t dminate the highest-prestige( 声 望 高 的 ) graduate prgrams, but verall the relatinship between men and advanced educatin seems t be fraying(磨损).
What is the meaning f the underlined wrd in the first paragraph ?
ridiculusB. mderateC. criticalD. striking
What statement is true accrding t the passage ?
In February, mre men were emplyed than wmen.
This inversin has been fr 55 mnths ver the past five years.
In February, mre men with advanced degrees were in the labr frce.
Men with advanced degrees have a higher unemplyment rate than thse with bachelr's degrees.
Frm the last paragraph, which f the statements will the writer apprve f ?
There were mre wmen in under-graduate schl enrllment in 1988.
There were less men in graduate schl enrllment in 1988.
Men tend t dminate the highest-prestige bachelr prgrams.
The relatinship between men and advanced educatin is better and better.
What’s the main idea f the passage ?
Mre educatin desn't mean mre jbs.
The mre educatin yu have, the mre likely yu are t have a jb.
Men still tend t dminate the highest-prestige graduate prgrams.
Men with advanced degrees are mre likely t get a better jb.

The ddly flat surface f Arrkth, an bject n the edge f the slar system, may be the result f material biled away by the sun. This bdy, mre than 6 billin kilmetres frm the sun in the Kuiper belt beynd Neptune, was visited by NASA’s New Hrizns spacecraft in 2019. The prbe(探测器) tk images that revealed Arrkth as a strange wrld with tw flattened parts jined by a neck.
Nw Yuhui Zha frm the Chinese Academy f Sciences and her clleagues think they knw hw this strange shape came t be: the sun turned ices n Arrkth’s surface knwn as super-vlatiles(超级挥发物) frm slid t gas—a prcess knwn as sublimatin(升华)—when it first frmed 4 billin years ag.
Super-vlatiles are ices that have a particularly lw sublimatin pint. Carbn mnxide, fr example, sublimates at abut -240°C. While it is unclear which ices wuld have been present, Arrkth’s distance frm the sun and resulting lw temperature means that nly super-vlatiles wuld prbably sublimate.
It is likely that this prcess resulted in a flattened appearance because f the way Arrkth spins. It rtates arund the path f its rbit arund the sun in a way that means tw sides –what are nw the “frnt” and “back” – are expsed t the sun mre than its ther sides, resulting in prlnged heating n them that prduced its flattened peanut shell shape.
Whether Arrkth’s shape is unique in the Kuiper belt depends n hw rare super-vlatiles and its unusual rtatin are. “It shuld nt be unique,” says Ladislav Rezac at the Max Planck Institute in Germany, a c-authr n the paper. “But that depends n these tw prbabilities, which we d nt knw.”
What des the underlined wrd refer t in Para. 2?
Gas n Arrkth.B. Ices n Arrkth’s surface.C. The sun.D. Slid n Arrkth.
What d we knw frm the passage?
The ices n Arrkth were nt super-vlatiles.
The ices n Arrkth turned t gas at very lw temperatures.
All sides f Arrkth receive equal heat frm the sun.
It's knwn what the ices n Arrkth were.
What des Ladislav Rezac mean?
Arrkth’s shape is unique in Kuiper belt.
Arrkth’s shape is nt unique in Kuiper belt.
It’s clear hw rare super-vlatiles are in Kuiper belt.
Other bjects f the same shape as Arrkth might exist in Kuiper belt.
What’s the best title f the passage?
Ice and the sun t shape a flat wrldB. Arrkth, an bject n the edge f the slar system
C. Arrkth, a strange flat wrldD. Arrkth visited by NASA's New Hrizns spacecraft

There is n denying that glbalizatin has been a trend fr many years. As a widely used internatinal language, the psitin f English can never be replaced, fr which the educatin f English is still f great imprtance. Meanwhile, the idea is nt in line with the cuntry's pursuit f further penness. Furthermre, as fr us students, we can braden ur hrizns and imprve ur cultural awareness and critical thinking ability thrugh learning the English language.
I think it is prbably the mde f English teaching that shuld be changed, nt the status f English teaching.
