We usually think that plants are quiet in the natural world. Grass doesn't cry when you cut it; flowers don't scream when they' re picked. But our human view of the world misses quite a lot. Plants talk to each other all the time. Their language is chemical. Over the years, scientists have reported that different types of plants, from trees to tomatoes, release compounds (复合物) into the air to help neighboring plants. How plants receive and act on many of these signals (信号) is still mysterious.
Recently, a team led by Junji Takabayashi of Japan's Kyoto University has offered some explanations, reported Time magazine. The scientists looked at tomato plants bitten by insects. First, they grew plants in two plastic houses connected by a tube (管子). One plant was bitten by insects. The other was not.
They found that when insects bite leaves, a plant doesn't sit quietly. It releases a chemical called HexVic into the air. These chemicals carry an odor that neighboring plants can sense. People don't notice it, though. This way, the neighboring plants understand the danger. They begin to make more Hex Vic to protect themselves.
Later, scientists put insects on the other plants. The plants were able to kill nearly 50 percent of invaders (入侵者), much more than their sick neighbors.
It was surprising that plants don't release a chemical until they get a warning message from their infested neighbors, scientists said. These findings may help farmers with pest control.
25. In Paragraph 1, the author leads in the topic by ________.
A. comparing things B. listing numbers C. giving examples
26. What is the correct order of the experiment process?
a. About fifty percent of insects are dead.

27. What is the correct structure of the passage? (P1= Paragraph 1)

Zhang also met many other mountain climbers from all over the world. They all encouraged him even though they spoke different languages. Zhang could feel their warmth through hugs or pats on his shoulder. Zhang said the climbing of Qomolangma taught him many things, including how to trust people.
