Germany is famous for its history and culture, and it also has some of Europe’s most wild and wonderful scenery. Here are four parks worth visiting.
    The Bliesgau Biosphere
This place is home to almost half of all German flower species. The grasslands run for miles, drawing in different butterflies. Thanks to its great climate, this is an area of sustainable development. In fact, this park is an example of farming done right and offers a wealth of agricultural know-how to anyone eager to learn.

    Berchtesgaden nature park
Berchtesgaden is one of Germany’s oldest and most beautiful conservation areas. Paths go in and out of the forest, leading you along the banks of glassy lakes. The more adventurous visitors may choose paragliding (滑翔伞运动). Back on the ground, a network of more than 150 miles of walking paths goes through the forest.
    Southern Black Forest nature park
The highland areas, with views over Switzerland and France, are a good place for food-lovers. Activities in the park range from hiking and fishing to mountain biking, while the slower travelers will enjoy the paths to get away from everyday life.
    Jasmund nature park
It lies on the west coast of the offshore island of Rugen. This protected site is the smallest of Germany’s national park. It is here that painter Caspar David Friedrich found himself inspired to create one of his masterpieces, Chalk Cliffs on Rigen, in 1818. Here long paths can take you all the way to the Rugen coastline, where white-sand beaches and blue waters wait for you.

The pasty (馅饼) has been a recorded part of the British diet since the 13th century, at that time being enjoyed by the rich upper classes. The fillings were different and rich. It wasn’t until the 17th and 18th centuries that the pasty was popular among miners and farm workers in Cornwall as a means for providing themselves with easy and tasty meals while they worked. And so the Cornish pasty was born.
Traditionally, the pasty fillings are beef with potato, onion and swede! As meat was much more expensive in the 17th and 18th centuries, its presence was rare and so pasties traditionally included much more vegetables than today. The presence of carrot in a pasty, although common now, was the mark of a poor pasty at first.
Filling ideas are endless however, and can be as different as your taste will take you. There is much discussion as to whether the ingredients (原料) should be mixed together first or lined up on the pastry in a special order. However, there is agreement that the meat should be cut into pieces, the vegetables sliced and none should be cooked before they are sealed (密封) within the pastry. It is this that makes the Cornish pasty different from other similar foods.
It was such a commonly used method of eating amongst the miners that some mines had tools down the mineshafts (井筒) specifically to cook the pasties. If they were cooked in the mornings, the pastry could keep the fillings warm for 8-10 hours and, when held close to the body, keep the miners warm too. It was also common for the pasties to provide not only a main course lunch, but also a sweet or fruity dessert course. The salty filling would be cooked at one end of the pasty and the sweet course at the other end. Hopefully these ends would be marked on the outside too!
24.What do we know about the pasty in the 13th century?

A.It was enjoyed in Cornwall only.
B.It was popular among miners and farm workers.
C.It had few and simple fillings.
D.It was widely eaten by the rich upper classes.
25.If carrot was in a pasty in the 17th and 18th centuries, the pasty would ______.
A.be more expensive B.be sold out very soon
C.be seen as one of bad quality D.be made without other fillings
26.What is special about the Cornish pasty?
A.Its fillings can’t be very different.
    B.Its ingredients should be mixed.
C.Its ingredients should be put in the correct order.
D.Its fillings shouldn’t be cooked before they are sealed.
27.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A.To show how to make pasties.
B.To introduce the basic information of pasties.
    C.To compare different pasties.
D.To encourage people to taste pasties.

    C
In November, “NFT” was chosen as 2021's “Word of the Year” by Collins Dictionary. NFT is short for Non-Fungible Token. It is a “one-of-a-kind” property in the digital world that can be bought and sold like any other piece of property but has no tangible (可触摸的) form. Now, NFTs are becoming popular in the art world.
Unlike the traditional artworks that are made by hand and have their own special technique, digital arts can be copied and gained for free. But NFTs could provide a digital certificate (证明), showing the ownership of a unique virtual or physical artwork.
“In the digital world, you wouldn't know if something is a copy of something else because the copy is almost perfect. The NFT was the first to prove who owns this property,” said Pindar Wong, chairman of Internet financial infrastructure consultancy VeriFi.
Along with protecting ownership, NFTs allow the owner to get a payment each time his/her work is sold. The artwork itself still belongs to the owner, and the buyers can get limited rights to show the digital artwork. So whenever the NFTs are sold, each transaction (交易) can only be made with the owner.
“NFTs can ensure that owners, including artists or musicians, can have a part of the income from every transaction, which could encourage their creations,” said Sylvia Wang, a consultant at business-to-business platform ArtBiz Asia.
That's why many experts believe that NFTs can greatly change the art industry. According to the latest report, in the first half of 2021, the sales of NFT digital artworks reached $ 2.5 billion, an increase from just $13.7 million for the same period in 2020.
US artist Mike Winkelmann said that with the help of NFT technology, the art field has entered a new time. He created a digital work of art — Everydays: The First 5, 000 Days. In March, it was sold for $ 69 million.
    28.What is NFT?
A.A piece of artwork. B.A kind of property.
C.A useful dictionary. D.A copy of something else.

29.What can we know about digital artworks?
A.They have tangible forms. B.They hardly have any value.
C.They are very easy to copy. D.It's easy to identify their owners.
30.What does Sylvia Wang agree with?
    A.NFTs could largely benefit owners.
B.The creator can't get paid for digital works.
C.NFTs have the chance to replace real artworks.
D.Buyers have no right to use the digital artworks.
31.What could be a suitable title for the text?
A.The Charm of Digital Art B.Hot Words of the Year 2021
C.Digital Art Changing the Art Field D.NFT Creating Value in Digital Art

A team from the University of Tokyo just published a new study that says that writing on paper is actually the best for your mind. “Paper is more advanced and useful compared to electronic records because paper contains more one-of-a-kind information for stronger memory recall,” said Professor Kuniyoshi L. Sakai, a neuroscientist at the University of Tokyo and author in the study.
Most people like smartphones or tablets because they seem to make everyday tasks easier, but after gathering 48 volunteers between the ages of 18 and 29 for the study, the researchers found that those who wrote on paper to finish note-taking tasks completed these 25 percent faster than people who used smartphones or tablets. What is the reason? The team said that using paper gave the volunteers more of a chance to write in their own form, while digital devices are more consistent (始终如一的).
The researchers divided the volunteers, including college students and office staff, into three groups depending on their memory, preferences for using paper or digital tools, sex and age. Then each volunteer read a conversation that highlighted characters explaining their plans, which mentioned what they wanted to do in two months, their 14 different class times, the deadlines for the characters' homework, and any other things. After using their paper or a device to take notes about this conversation, the volunteers were given an hour break and a task to keep them from thinking directly about the study. They were then asked a number of questions like “What are the deadlines for the characters’ homework?”
Those who used paper for notetaking took only 11 minutes to jot down their thoughts during the study, while people who used tablets took 14 minutes; smartphone users spent the most time on the task, taking 16 minutes to write down their thoughts. As for the accuracy of the answers, those writing on paper seemed to stand out. This suggested that writing on paper benefited their memory.
32.Why did the volunteers writing on paper finish note-taking tasks faster?
    A.Their tasks were less difficult.
B.They took notes without any stops.
    C.Their writing styles were consistent.
D.They could write in their unique ways.
33.What were the volunteers required to do in the study?
    A.Make up some conversations.
    B.Raise questions for each other.
    C.Take notes about a conversation.
    D.Discuss notes with group members.
34.Why were the volunteers asked to answer questions after a break?
A.To test their memory. B.To ensure the accuracy.
C.To keep them energetic. D.To remove their thoughts.
35.What does the underlined phrase “jot down” in the last paragraph probably mean?
    A.Leave out. B.Write down. C.Break down. D.Concentrate on.

    第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
    阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Many of us might not give a second thought to dropping a small piece of litter. After all, if it is so small, it cannot possibly be that harmful, can it? 36 With the growing use of plastic bags and the rising number of smokers, there is more litter being produced than ever before.
Although cigarette ends are small, they are bad for the environment. Worldwide, about 4.3 trillion cigarette ends are littered every year. As well as ruining the beauty of the environment, they contain poisonous chemicals. 37 In this way, they affect water quality and endanger plants and animals in the water. Cigarette ends can take up to 25 years to break down, and the poisonous chemicals add up to a large amount with so many littered. So, if people want to smoke, they should clear up the ends properly in a rubbish can.
38 They are easily blown by wind and float in water, so they can travel long distances. They find their way to rivers, parks, beaches, and oceans, killing many birds, mammals, fish, and sea animals each year worldwide. They can last for hundreds of years in the environment. We should not let plastic bags become litter. We should use fewer plastic bags, and reuse and recycle what we have already used. One way to reduce the use of plastic bags is to charge for them. Shops used to give plastic bags for free. 39 Some shops also have a “bag-for-life” plan. They sell stronger bags that can be reused, and they replace them for free if the bags ever break.
Waste is a big problem for the environment, so we need to do something. Not littering at all or cleaning up “small waste” saves money spent on clearing off litter properly. 40
A.They are harmful to our health.
B.These find their way into the water supply.
C.In today’s world, the answer is certainly “Yes, it can!”
D.Proper measures should be taken to deal with the pollution issues.
E.However, it would be better not to smoke or use plastic bags at all.
F.Plastic bags are another common form of litter dangerous to the environment.
G.But in some countries, including China, customers are now charged for each bag.

Soon he was surrounded with people who were attracted by the words on the paper. It said, “Last night, a gentleman named George Sang put an important thing into my hat by mistake. Please come to claim it soon.”
After about half an hour, a middle- aged man rushed through the crowd to the violinist and said, “Yes, it’s you. I knew that you were an honest man and would certainly come here.” The young violinist asked calmly, “Are you Mr. George Sang?” The man nodded. W: Good morning. How can I help you?
M: I’m thinking of buying a flat, and I’d like to know what you have for sale.
W: What size of flat are you looking for?
M: Well,I’d like three bedrooms. That’s for sure. It would be nice to have two living rooms, but I don’t think I could afford it.
W: So what sort of price do you want to pay?
M: Certainly not more than £170,000. Obviously we don’t expect a garden for that price, but if possible we’d really like a flat with a large balcony, which would be big enough to sit outside in sunny weather, and have meals perhaps. And my son could do some exercises there in the morning.
W: OK. I’ll try. What about the position?
M: Well, that’s rather important. You see, I’ve just started a new job and I have a long train journey to work every day. So I really want to be as near the station as possible.
W: Mmm. It might be difficult to get a three-bedroom flat anywhere near the station for less than £200,000.

M: Good, can you tell me what I’m doing next Monday?
W: Yeah. At 9:00 in the morning you are supposed to sign a document with Aston Company. Then at 2:30 in the afternoon you’ve got a customer coming from Portsmouth.
M: OK.What about Tuesday? Is there free time on Tuesday?
W: Not really. You’re tied up all day with the training course. And of course you’re in Canada from Thursday afternoon through to the weekend.
M: That leaves Wednesday and Thursday morning. Am I free at all?
W: Not on Thursday morning. You’ve got the department meeting right up until you leave for the airport.
    M: What about Wednesday?
W: Well, you’re at a product show from 10:00 in the morning, which will last for two hours, and then after a meal you’ve got free time between 1:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon.
    M: OK, thanks, Martha.

W: Good morning and welcome to this morning’s lecture on transport. My focus will be on different countries’ transportation today. The first country I’d like to talk about is Colombia, which is in South America. This is a country where geography plays an important role.Due to the huge amount of mountains and forests in this country, traveling by air is necessary. Today, there are more than 400 airports in Colombia. Colombia also has a road network of about 48,000 km. Transport by road is important for commercial development as well as trade and tourism. Apart from this, there is also a railway system, but it is in need of modernization. Turning now to Europe. Belgium is a country that has the most complex railway systems worldwide. Inland waterways are also an important means of transport. Belgium also has the third largest seaport in the world. Air travel is also important, although this is not linked to its geography. Next, I’d like to look at the United Kingdom. Like Belgium, the UK has inland waterways, around 4,000 km, yet only about 17% of these are used for commercial transport. The main inland port is Manchester and the chief seaport is London with Southampton taking second place.Air travel is expensive in this country and there are around 150 airports, the most famous being Heathrow. However, about 90% of the passengers in the UK travel by road.
