If yu live in Shanghai, yu might have taken a "lessn" in srting(分类)garbage, as the city intrduced new garbage-srting regulatins(规章)n July 1, 2019.
As China' s first city t carry ut strict regulatins n garbage srting and recycling, Shanghai requires its residents(居民) t srt garbage int fur categries(类别), namely recyclable, harmful, dry and wet waste. If peple fail t srt their garbage prperly, they can be fined up t 200 yuan.
Since the regulatin tk effect, the amunt f ttal daily waste in Shanghai has been reduced by an average f 15, 500 tns, drpping 26 percent frm the end f 2018, while the average daily weight f recyclables hits 4, 500 tns, five times higher than the end f 2018, accrding t the Shanghai Landscaping and City Appearance Administrative Bureau.
The city als rebuilt 21, 000 waste-srting statins and mre than 40, 000 waste bins have been dated(更新). The city's waste cllectin and transprtatin system is cmplete, accrding t the bureau.
"Prper waste srting prtects the envirnment and saves natural resurces, " said Deng Jianping, directr f the bureau. "Led by the central gvernment, Shanghai is making effrts t develp lng-term slutins t garbage management. "
