He just shaves it fr his mvies.” Naturally, the children were dubtful. Until, my mustache became the detail that cnfirmed what the parents had said and cnvinced the kids that I was actually Batman.
That year, I struggled a lt with my identity. But that day, at least, there was n dubt in my mind what I was due t this amazing cincidence. I may nt have been the her that they rdered r even the her they expected. But that day, I was the her that they needed.

Faces are a cmplex and rich surce f scial, emtinal and linguistic signals. Babies and yung children see and hear cmmunicative signals and learn t attach meanings t them thrugh their everyday interactins with their caregivers and scial partners. Take, fr example, a baby in a day care center where nly masked peple can be heard and seen talking. Hwever, t understand what they are saying, that baby must lk at the muth, which is essential fr figuring ut whether a particular persn’s face ges with a particular vice. S, seeing partially visible faces rbs them f sufficient linguistic signals that are essential fr cmmunicatin.
The visible articulatins(发声)that babies nrmally see when thers are talking play a key rle in their acquisitin f cmmunicatin skills. This suggests that masks prbably hinder babies’ acquisitin f speech and language.
Of curse, the news is nt all bad. Babies spend much f their time at hme with their unmasked caregivers. It is nly in day care r when ut and abut with their parents that they dn’t see whle talking faces. Therefre, it may nly be thse situatins that may have lng-term negative cnsequences fr babies.

26. What des authr think f the influence f wearing masks fr babies?
