    Step 1.Lead in

    Leading in 【情景1

    Warm up.Pair work:Teacher shows pictures of Chinese dishes, especially Beijing Duck and Lanzhou noodles.Ask them to work in pairs.Ask questions like this:

    S1:Did you eat Beijing Duck?

    S2:Yes.

    S1:When did you eat it?

    S2:When I went on a trip to Beijing last year.

    S1:Was it delicious?

    S2:Yes.It’s very delicious.I want to eat it again.

    S1:Oh,I hear it’s delicious.I hope to eat it one day.

    After a few minutes, ask some pairs to act their dialogues out in front of the class.

    Leading in 【情景2

    Work in groups.Ask the students to talk about how to cook.They can talk about the following questions:

    (1)What do you often eat for breakfast/lunch/supper?

    (2)What is healthy food?

    (3)How often do you eat fruit and vegetables?

    (4)Can you cook?

    After a few minutes, ask the students to give a report in front of the class.

    Group 1:I often have milk, bread and eggs for breakfast.My home is near my school, so I have lunch at home.I have noodles or dumplings for lunch.Sometimes I have rice and vegetables for lunch.After lunch, I often eat some fruit, such as apples, pears and bananas.I often have dinner with my parents at home.We have porridge, bread and vegetables for dinner.After dinner, I have some fruit.I think my food is safe and healthy.What do you think of it? By the way, I can’t cook any dishes.I will learn to cook this summer holiday.

    Step 2.Presentation

    1.Show the students pictures or objects and learn the new words and expressions in this part:online, especially, treasure, end, product, worth, taste, true, once, go online, get back, tellabout, a lot of, Beijing Duck.

    T:Do you like going online in your free time?

    S:Sure.

    T:Now read after me “online”.

    S:Online.

    T:I like fruit, especially apples.What about you?

    S3:I like bananas.

    T:Now read after me “especially”.

    S:Especially.

    2.Ask the students to work in pairs.Try to make a conversation with the new words and phrases.

    T:Do you know how to eat Beijing Duck?

    S4:No,I don’t know.What about you?

    S5:I go online and learn to cook it.

    S4:Does it take a lot of time?

    S5:Of course.But the end product is worth it.

    S4:Would you like to taste it?

    S5:Of course.

    S4:OK.Come to my home tonight.

    Step 3.Practice

    1.Retell the story.Ask the students to retell the text.Ask a few students to try in class.

    2.Work in pairs.Create a new dialogue about the food in the world.Ask a few pairs to act them out in front of the class.

    S6:Do you like Chinese food or Western food?

    S7:I like Chinese food.

    S6:What do you like to eat?

    S7:I like to eat noodles, dumplings and rice.What about you?

    S6:Sometimes I eat Western food.

    S7:What Western food do you like?

    S6:I like hamburgers, sandwiches and hot dogs.

    3.Group work:Ask the students to say his/her favourite dishes.And introduce how to make them.

    After the students practice a few minutes, ask some groups to make a report in front of the class.They can show the pictures of the dishes at the same time.

    Group 1:My favourite food is noodles.I can’t make noodles by myself.I often buy some noodles in the supermarket.First I put some water in the pot.Then I put the vegetables and noodles.I put some salt in it.Then I put the noodles in a bowl.Now I can eat the noodles.

    Step 4.Complete Let’s Do It!

    We have finished Exercise 1 in listening part and Exercise 3 in Let’s Do It.Ask the students to finish Exercise 2 and Exercise 4 by themselves.Check the answers in class.

    Step 5.Task

    Pair work:Let’s Do It! Exercise 5.

    Work in pairs.Talk about different dishes you know.What’s your favourite dish? What’s in it? Is it easy to make?

    Example:

    Poutine is a Canadian dish.

    Poutine is made with French fries, cheese and gravy.

    It’s easy to make and it’s delicious!

    Ask the students to discuss in pairs.Create more dialogues.After a few minutes, ask some pairs to act their dialogues out in front of the class.

    1.大多数人喜欢在空闲时间上网。

    Most people like         in their free time. 

    2.你能告诉我一些关于英国的情况吗?

    Can you     me something     England? 

    3.做这道菜花费很多时间。

            much time to make the dish. 

    4.这个电影值得看。

    1.Remember the words and phrases in this lesson.

    2.Write a few sentences about“ My Favourite Dish”, and draw a picture of it or bring a photo of the dish.
