Recently I dined at a “dark restaurant”, where peple eat in cmplete darkness, served by blind staff. I wanted t understand the experience f being blind, and I thught eating wuld be the mst difficult activity.
It was a difficult meal. Because we culdn’t see where anything was, my friend and I kncked ver glasses and drpped fd. My senses f taste and smell became mre sensitive, and I ate much mre slwly, trying t guess what I was eating.
Puring water was very difficult, plus I kept drinking frm my friend’s glass. After failing t pick up any fd with a frk fr five minutes, I decided t use my hands. I reached dwn, expecting rice and vegetables, but instead stuck my hand int a bwl f warm, thick sup.
“It’s best t use a spn fr this curse,” the waiter said int my ear, helpfully but much t late. Even using a spn, mst f the sup ended up n my shirt. I felt embarrassed, even thugh n ne culd see me.
Our waiter advised us t lift the plates and bwls clse t ur faces. Hwever, I still left the restaurant feeling hungry, thugh I was much mre aware f the challenges that blind peple face.

Tday in class, we played a game called “the blind traveller”, in which ne has t walk thrugh barriers with the eyes blind- flded. At first I think it was easy, but when I was blindflded, I felt very helpless. There was darkness arund me. When I tk the first step, I fell ff the barrier.
The mst difficult thing is the fear f darkness. Althugh I remembered the psitin f the barrier, but my first step was wrng. When the fear surrunded me, I heard my classmates call my name and guided me t mve n. I was gradually full f cnfidence.
Suddenly, I felt a helping hand in frnt f me, eventually, I made it. Withut my classmate’s help, I culdn’t finish the game. This made me realize the challenges that the blind peple face. And I decided t help the blind peple whenever they need help.
Tday in class, we played a game called “the blind traveller”, in which ne has t walk thrugh barriers with the eyes blind- flded. It is thrugh this experience that I started t realise hw incnvenient life culd be fr a blind persn.
Nt being able t see where I was ging, I kept ging ff the path, and turning in the wrng directin. What’s mre, withut the ability t accurately lcate the psitin f the barriers, I ften fell ver them, even thugh I was mving at an extremely slw speed.
And a lss f balance increased the difficulty f the shrt jurney. After falling ver mre than ten times, I finally reached my destinatin n hands and knees.
Withut sights I culdn’t even cmplete the shrt jurney f n mre than 15 meters smthly, let alne vercme all the ther varius difficulties. I d realise that life must be much mre challenging fr the blind peple.
